Hard truth about Overshown

He's also not that good.

You could almost tolerate Sean Lee's injuries because he was a HoF level talent. Overshown has a handful of highlight plays and not much else.
Overshown is not built for a 3-4 defense. He is no equipped to take on offensive guards. He will be constantly on roller skates. Barham on the other hand will happily neutralize an offensive lineman at the point of attack.

I'm gonna do it i'm gonna be same old blue Here comes the big letters with fancy font and color

he is not injury prone, having a guy roll up on the back of his leg last year whatever it was in a big pile is football that's accidental bad luck, and now all of a sudden we're exaggerating about a hamstring tweak?!!!!!

in game one with the first full contact game of the year, there are a lot of guys with tweaks this week,

Look around the NFL There are a lot of players that have gotten worse than just a hammy..
His injury history will tell you otherwise.

You can call injury prone, accident prone or bad luck prone. The result is the same.

I hear you but when do we stop calling it bad luck?
'cause it's sports how can you avoid a big pile where you're trying to make a tackle And I believe his own player ran up the back of his leg while his leg was stuck on the ground and couldn't move because another 300 pounder was in front of him that is just bad luck it's playing in one of the roughest sports on the planet..

A hamstring is not an injury it's a tweak it's a soft tissue thing that all people in sports whether you're a runner or whether you play football especially in game one of the year you're going to see a lot of soft tissue injuries go look around the NFL at least it was a broken bone or a concussion or another ACL it was two different legs One was non contacted one was unavoidable and now a little hamstring injury and now this is you not keeping your eyes and your head together and realize a lot of players have tweaked something this past week..

Hooker has a broken arm OK does that make him injury prone 'cause he got his arm caught in a tackle between someone's helmet and someone else thigh or however it happened that maybe you didn't play that you don't understand it it is bad luck sometimes it's circumstantial it's like getting in a car accident Sometimes you're in the wrong place at the wrong time..

There is no defense in which a MLB isn't going to have to take on OL. There is no LB worth paying who can't ever defeat a block.

If LB can't defeat an OL, ever, what is the difference between a LB and a DB? Why even have them on the roster.

Yes he can You guys call it major reprone 'cause he had one injury that was non contact you do realize in sport like football when you're in a pile and your leg is locked on the ground and some big 300 pound guy rolls into the back of your leg you're probably going to get injured I would like you to do it would you like to come to my house in the backyard and let's film it and you just stand there and let me go full speed and dive into the back of your legs sideways with your leg being stepped on in the front so it can't move I can promise you you're probably blowing your ACL out too..

Gotta hear me are we exaggerating that now a tweet hamstring is injury prone in the NFL in game one first full 60 minute game with full contact high humidity and he tweets his hamstring and now he's injury prone I'd say he's got a lot of bad luck but again move him outside but with a soft tissue issue that is not being injury prone that is sports Some of y'all probably did that getting out of bed today..lol
No, I'm being objective. I always ask questions and don't roll with status quo. I ask why. Objectively, I like your idea on him playing on the outside. Let him use his quicks. But that doesn't mean to say he can stay available. In Texas he was hurt too. I just can't see him lasting in the league the way he's trending. Maybe a lifer at special teams.

Coogs, apparently Stephen Jones puts less emphasis on player “availability” and more emphasis on how cheap he can keep them.
He sets a value in his own unqualified head and when things exceed that, it’s a no go. They’d rather leave the hole.

One recent example….how Dean, Walker and Lloyd went down this last offseason. ‘Oh, well we we thinking it was less for those guys…etc’

How do not have an exact feel for the market as an NFL GM?

Love your passion for the team and player but it's hard to imagine the player flipping the switch. I guess he's here to stay another year. He will have every chance.

Week 1 Performance Breakdown
  • Barham
    • PFF Grade: 75.9 overall defensive grade (ranking him among the notable rookie defensive performers for Week 1).
    • Snaps & Role: Stepped into an every-down linebacker role and took over defensive play-calling duties (wearing the "green dot") after DeMarvion Overshown exited due to a second-half injury.
    • Stats: Recorded 6 total tackles (3 solo, 3 assisted) and 1 tackle for loss (TFL) during the 28-20 loss to the Giants. [1, 2, 3]
Sometimes coaches are forced to play the better player, even when the can't recognize it.

Players constantly get hurt prescott is not injury prone it's football Lots of quarterbacks are hurt that doesn't make him injury prone that makes him part of the NFL most of the players are going to have major injuries it is what it is but this is just a hamstring tweak and you're going overboard with it the whole hard truth nonsense yes I agree he needs to be put in a less physical area of the field where he could be utilized properly just like they did with Parsons parsons would have never made it off the ball linebacker and now we're running a proper defense that you can put him outside it wasn't like we saw a bunch of great passwords in game one we could use Overshown as an OLB I'm betting he could be pretty good at it.

The meaning you'll never get hurt again it's the NFL... Look around the NFL I even remember Patrick Mahomes he's had bad ankle and foot injuries toe injuries now an ACL injury is he injury prone or does he play in the friggin NFL jesus people you don't even understand what you're watching this is not flag football and even then you can tweak your hamstring.

Come out I gotta go to work I'll argue with you ladies later..

I think they need to let Barham play, make his rookie mistakes and grow as the season progresses. We need to know if he is the stud everyone talked about in training camp and preseason or is he is just another flash in the pan. He seems to have better instincts than some of the other trash LBs we've seen in recent years.

Remember too, we just want the defense to be top 15. One step at a time. Dominance is not going to come all at once. Barham has to be better than Kenneth Murray so there is on improvement.

To be honest, all the LBs looked lost Sunday night. Those plays outside where no one was anywhere near the play were troublesome but I think more the result of confusion than lack of ability.

One concern I have is the Cowboys inability to cover TEs all night. That needs to get fixed or every team is going to go 9-11 on 3rd downs.

Stephen doesn’t respect the market. He establishes what he wants to pay whether it’s market value or not.

What kills us with that thinking is you are constantly missing on FA talent. Obviously you can’t get them all but he doesn’t even seem to care as much about winning games as winning negotiations.

you trust him to be the guy already
Don't know if it's a question of fully trusting him, but at this point what else do we have? We didn't address LB sufficiently and if we think he's a talent, might as well get him dirty and get him in games so he can grow into it. Every player can't be perfectly prepped for their opportunity. You have to roll the dice that some will be able to hit the ground running.

This is not Sam Williams we're talking about this is not Randy Gregory this is a guy who both in college and the pros has shown you that when utilized properly he can make plays lots of big plays This is not one you give up on and call injury prone no you don't have to pay him big I understand that he he's gonna have to prove he can stay healthier longer and find a position that he can excel in before you give him big money but that doesn't mean you get rid of him then he goes to another team and becomes a superstar that is what happens sometimes..

Injuries like you said are part of this gig. But we need him available several games in a row, not hit and miss.

It was clear even without pff that Barham was a rare bright spot on defense. Start him and don't look back. And if schotty benches him when overshown gets back he'll lose the locker room

4-3 defense frees up a LB significantly more to run around and make plays.
