Not really. Weakside player yea but it doesn't solve that modern run games have more blockers than defenders at the POA.

I mean, were Cowboys LBs constantly running free under Quinn? No.

Playing less than 50% of the time for any reason is problematic and should be an automatic none extension decision.

Right, then combine that with competing with GMs that have to win or be gone.

No such problem here. Maybe they aren’t against signing free agents, they just want to pay what Stephen determines they are worth.

That may sound cold hearted but if we are committed to turning this thing around, you have to make hard decisions like this. Overshown is in a contract year. If I were the Cowboys FO, this would be his last year here.

Remember the quote..."stop drafting one legged, broke neck Linebackers." see Bruce Carter, Jaylon Smith, Sean Lee, Overshawn, and Vander Esch.

Plus if Overshawn could play he is a OLB, not a MLB, and it takes 2 years to fully recover from knee injury. See Michael Irvin 1990 versus 1991 and he was a workout and rehab warrior.

Jerry Dumbo GM Jones has done it again drafted and depended on one legged, broke neck Linebackers.
 
The hard truth is the man is trash. He has always been trash. Wasted draft pick. Just another day at the office for the jones boys and bust mcclay
 
Holding a roster spot for someone like Sean Lee makes more sense than holding one for Overshown. When Lee was on the field, he was a field general and a tackling machine. Overshown is talented but he's no Sean Lee.
 
Love Overshown. Absolutely love him if used properly. My issue with Agent O at MIKE. Too small and too undisciplined. He runs to the ball and freelances too much. This was fine in different defenses and positions when he was allowed to chase the ball more but he can't do that now because the entire defense falls apart if he does. He has to know his job every single play, do his job every single play, be able to take on blocks and still make the tackle in his gap(s) and also be aware of and read his keys and react when appropriate to the play. He isn't great at any of these things I listed.

I've said it all last year and all offseason and I'll say it again. We need a true MIKE. None of our guys other than Barham are built for it and we don't know if he can do it or not yet. It's not plug and play.
 
Overshown is not even in the same league with Rolando 'Purple' McClain and LVE 1st season All-Pro, the former ghost of Gryffindor.

Let alone Sean See. The only comparison with Lee is unavailability.

He's more closer to Jaylon Smith to me. Prototype, project, injury prone, fast, tall and skinny LB. He doesn't look and doesn't play like a MLB.

I feel bad for him, but the Cowboys need to move on. He just can't stay healthy. He's practically a Bigfoot that fans think they catch a glimpse of once in a while.

Speaking of Lee, perhaps he should be coaching instead of podcasting?

All depends on his priorities, where his heart is and desires. Really liked him as as player.
