In the US MetLife Stadium Giants / Jets was said to be the worst surface in the NFL . And that’s a major city 2 teams biggest market and they play on garbage you can imagine the situation is less than optimal outside a US venue. The players Union I guess doesn’t exist except to collect dues .

Why would it be less than optimal outside of the U.S.?

We aren't the only country with major sports teams who play on grass.

Yes, that field sucks. But one reason it sucks is b/c it's the only field in the NFL where two teams play their home games. Grass just isn't considered feasible.

Now that’s a great point . But The Chargers Rams share SOFI Stadium i wonder if they took that into account for playing surface .

Why Woody Johnson of Johnson & Johnson couldn’t put together a financial package say in the NYC limits to get the Jets a stadium is ludicrous.

I think Brazil is going to lag behind the US specifications for maintaining an NFL caliber playing surface . And if reports coming out of Brazil are correct that seems to be the case . Unfortunately Dallas has to try and win a game .

Years ago I think his name was George Toma and he worked for the Chiefs . The NFL sent him to overseas games ahead of time to assist the home country in preparing the surface .

Now here's the caveat, they kick a ball around. Football is different, in such you carry the ball on the field.

So your not on constant run, like soccer. my 2 cents ..

Do Americans find it a little strange calling the game that EVERY player on the team uses their foot to kick a ball - soccer however, then call a game that nobody with the exception of 2 ST players use their foot to kick the ball - football.

I clearly love both games and have done for years but scratch my head at this every time.

I was going to mention that. A horrible field could be the great equalizer. It reminds me of that Steelers Dolphins game in London one year. I think it ended 3-0.

Or that annoying Thanksgiving game back in 1993. Marino wasn't even playing. No snow, we win that game by 30 points.

Once you realize Goodell only cares about leaving a legacy of having expended the NFL to the rest of the world you will understand that player safety, quality of the games, even US viewership do not matter. IMO, Goodell is ruining the sport in his quest for a legacy.

Of course they crack down on players making unsafe plays, like horse-collar tackles, or blindside blocks, while the NFL puts players on poor surfaces to risk season ending injuries. There is no penalty or suspension for that.
