Dak is a greater QB than Aikman?

Tony was a gunslinger. How would that work out for the Cowboys against those great 49er teams in 92/93? It wouldn't. I'm more confident Dak would win with them than Romo.

Aikman had a loaded team. Correct. But it was in an era where defenses could obliterate the QB without consequences. He still had to actually make great throws.
I don’t know. Romo’s best season was when he had Demarco. Romo with Emmitt could do alright. Not saying Dak couldn’t

Maybe, maybe not. Troy brought more than just arm talent to the team, his work ethic and the way he was a field general even in practice. He demanded perfection and discipline. I don’t see those championship genes in either Romo or Dak. Maybe they are more athletic than Troy but that’s where it ends
I think Jimmy also demanded that same perfection and discipline. As did guys like Emmitt and Irvin. Championship pedigree all over the roster.

Some of the Speakeasy crew said Dak was better than Aikman and Romo. Romo can be contested but to say Dak is better than a HOF, and one of the most accurate playoff QB in NFL history, is absurd.

Aikman was a far better college QB and pro QB than Dak. No disrespect to Dak, but "I know Troy and you sir (Dak) are no Troy Aikman.
I'm a Dak fan but Aikman was better. Aikman thinks Dak is a good franchise QB.

It’s a silly fantasy argument because the entire thing is based on incomparable eras, but I can say that I have no doubt that if Aikman played in either of the Romo or Prescott eras, the Cowboys get at least one SB per era. Despite the coaching and Jerry. He would have needed to get that 2007 one done though for the Romo era because he could not dodge rushers like Romo. 2016 and 2022 Aikman gets it done.

He was the number one overall pick for a reason-he had elite makeup and passing ability. They almost ruined his career by making him a tackling dummy his first few years (and later after Jimmy left and inebriated hick was in charge and trading for Joey Galloway for two first round picks-good gawd). After finally getting a decent oline, the offense took off with Irvin and Smith. The X factor in the entire thing is how do you respond when playing a true monster, like SF in 1992 on the road in terrible weather conditions. Dak would tuck tail and run like he has proven when he meets a monster or just an opponent that can really punch back in the playoffs. For me, Dak’s very best gut check game in his career was the Wild Card Seattle game in Arlington. Legion of Boom was no longer a thing, but still several huge impact plays that game to get the win. I have no idea about Romo-it depends which Romo showed up. The Romo that matured to hold the ball and not throw into terrible coverage situations (the guy in 2014), MIGHT have a chance to win in 1992.

Another issue is how defenses could play the pass in Troy’s era. One reason why the team benefited so much from Michael was that he was extremely tough and took vicious punishment to make plays-all while fighting CBs and safeties that could basically rape the receiver while running the route.

It happens every day. Have you been hiding on an island in the middle of the Pacific?

Golf clap - Dak has Aikman beat in a few stats. It's unfortunate that some put more stock into Dak's stats than anything else, but that's all they have to prop him up.

I'll take 3 super bowl championships over anything Mr. 2-5 has accomplished or will ever manage to accomplish.
LOL, knew one Horsemen would be here.

I have faith that Dak would find a way. He has so far.
Maybe watch the playoff games instead of spewing hate in the game threads and you’ll get a different picture.

This is at the heart of most of these comparisons

If Troy Aikman was drafted by the 1989 Seahawks, his career would have been completely unremarkable. If Dak Prescott was a Cardinal, he wouldn’t have made it to his third contract. And if Tony Romo was a Dolphin he never gets his big break and likely is a career backup

Can Dak hand the ball off to Emmitt 30 times and throw a few 50/50 balls to Irvin while beating the bills by 40? Probably
Obviously, the situation players are drafted into matters, but how can you reference Aikman who was drafted into the worst team in the league? I'm trying to rank this response in terms of how gross:

1. An Eagles fan with 14K posts on this board for me is definitely #1
2. Trying to disparage our HOF QB as a guy who just handed off to Emmitt and threw 50/50 balls. Get the F. out of here.
3. TheMarathonContinues liking this comment. Come on man.I know you're a younger fan but are you serious?

Why do we have to devalue Troy to prop up Dak? Shouldn’t Dak’s accomplishments stand on their own? Why isn’t anyone saying Lamb is better than Michael Irvin or Javonte is better than Emmitt. Or why didn’t anyone devalue Staubach to prop us Aikman?

In the 2 games the team has won he had 5 TD's and 1 INT while scoring an average of 27.5 points (Good, Dak played well vs a 10-6 team and an 8-9 team.)

In the 5 games the team has lost he had 9 TD's and 6 INT's while scoring an average of 22.8 points (Poor, with most of those points coming in the 3rd - 4th)

In example of the 3rd and 4th scoring

2017 vs Packers 18 out of 31 points scored in the 4th Quarter after being down by 3 scores

2022 vs 49'rs 10 out of 17 points scored in the 4th Quarter after being down by 3 scores

2023 vs 49'rs 6 out of 12 points coming in last play of third and 4th Quarter after being down by 2 scores

2024 vs Packers 25 points out of 32 points coming in the 3rd and 4th Quarters after being down by by 41 points
