Dak is a greater QB than Aikman?

Some of the Speakeasy crew said Dak was better than Aikman and Romo. Romo can be contested but to say Dak is better than a HOF, and one of the most accurate playoff QB in NFL history, is absurd.

Aikman was a far better college QB and pro QB than Dak. No disrespect to Dak, but "I know Troy and you sir (Dak) are no Troy Aikman.
Of course he's not That's like asking does Prescott and Romo have anywhere close to the Super teams and the Super coaching Staffs that Troy and Roger had We'll never be able to end this debate because you think the rings make him better no they were on super teams There is no doubt your next threat should be did Prescott or Romer have anywhere close to the same super teams and the rosters and the coaching Staffs that Troy and Roger were gifted?

Apparently we forgot about the offensive lines the doomsday defenses the Tony Dorsets and the Emmett Smiths and all the great players that not only played great in the regular season that showed up in the postseason and elevated their games to where the quarterback never became necessary to carry the team unlike the last 20 years oh wait your narratives the last 30 years so let's just say the last 30 years the Cowboys have had nowhere close to the same teams coaching or rosters that Troy and Roger played for and that's the only debate that needs to be discussed...

Dak has a better career completion percentage than both Marino and Elway, while Aikman beats both of them, but “loses” to Dak. I guess he’s better than them as well.
All three were 1st round QBs, two were 1st overall. I'd draft them over Dak.

Or Doug Williams
Brad Johnson Jim Mcmahon I mean can we just keep adding to the hypocrisy and the big difference between,

Having super teams where you have a quarterback that just needs to not screw it up If you don't think Troy or Roger had super teams you weren't watching they had some of the best coaching Staffs ever assembled some of the best running backs ever to play the game some of the best offensive defensive lines I mean the trenches were crazy good..

Are you seriously comparing Troy’s all time great teams to anything the cowboys have had the last 30 years? Troy is better for sure but your argument is completely insane. You don’t have to spew complete BS to
I'm comparing two quarterbacks who had playoff teams to work with in different eras against different competition one ran the gauntlet and was successful the other didn't.

That's it there's no argument it's fact one quarterback won Super bowls and is in the Hall of Fame.

The other has collected some nice stats.

Unless Dak suddenly wins some titles this argument is pointless. Of course Aikman is better.

Now, if Dak played in the 1990s, would he have three rings? Probably. This is not taking anything away from Aikman but the Cowboys won pretty consistently when Troy was out of the lineup. They won games with Steve Beuerlein, Bernie Kosar, Rodney Peete, and Jason Garrett at the helm.

It’s a fact the QBs didn’t do it on their own. And you want to compare a playoff team to an all time great team. Hilarious.

Nobody's saying that they do it all on their own.

But to downplay there effect on the game is ridiculous they touch the ball on every offensive play.

Quarterbacks are the most coveted position in the NFL why do you think they get paid so much because they have a tremendous influence on the outcome of the game.

The difference between winning one playoff game or being one and done and running the whole gauntlet of the playoffs and winning the Super bowl is absolutely huge.

A quarterback with tremendous talent and leadership skills can be a big part of the difference between being one and done and winning a championship.

And you keep saying Troy aikman had an all-time great team well he was also a big integral part of that great team and part of what made it such a great team .

Did you actually watch his games? I expect that you didn’t or aren’t old enough.
I think this is a common phenomenon.

As in "Romo CHOKED on that one play to win the game".

Like you didnt't see how he HEROICALLY kept the Cowboys in it ALL GAME LONG? But that ONE time it didn;t work is all his fault!

People never actually watched it, conveniently forgot, or intentionally lie about what actually happened.

Most definitely agree with your last paragraph. I’m not going to downgrade his efforts because he had a great team around him, and it shouldn’t be used to prop him up either. He was just great, end of story. And that does not in any way make him better than Dan Marino. When you don’t have very good teams, and you’re playing better talent in the playoffs, no QB can elevate them to a win. Sure if it’s close they can but Dan never had enough.

It’s pointless to try and compare generations. Troy played a completely different game than Dak.

Dak is playing against better athletes, Troy probably played in a tougher era overall for the qb position though.
They may be better athletes, but you can't tell because most of them do not have the drive to be a champion. They only have drive for highest paid now.

As far as tougher era... There is no probably. QBs got smashed then.

Well it is difficult for the QB to touch the ball when the defense can't get off the field.

We don’t usually agree but when we do, we do! Lol

1989 season was enough to end most QBs of today lol.

Let me paraphrase you, for the sake of sanity of the rest of the board: A list of excuses.
