Wow -- it is sort of like you don't realize that these mobile QBs are really hard to sack -- that is sort of the whole deal with them.
Don't list teams with sacks without listing who they played. We've had some of the most elusive QBs in the first three game.
Pay attention. This board is for knowledgeable fans. You might need to go down a level to the minor league boards before working your way back up
Alright, Mr. Knowledgeable,
Let’s actually look at the numbers.
Jaxson Dart: roughly carries a very good 15% pressure-to-sack rate. Better than average (18.7%) at avoiding sacks, and Dallas still got him twice.
Jayden Daniels: one of the most athletic quarterbacks in football, yet he entered the NFL with a 24.5% career pressure-to-sack rate in college. He was at 20.2% his final year at LSU and 19.7% as an NFL rookie — above league average. In other words, being mobile certainly hasn’t historically made Daniels difficult to sack. In fact, taking too many sacks under pressure was specifically identified as one of his weaknesses coming out of college.
Then there’s Lamar Jackson, who actually IS exceptionally difficult to contain and historically one of the best quarterbacks in football at escaping pressure.
Except Lamar had already been sacked FIVE TIMES in the two games immediately before Dallas played him. Indianapolis got him twice, New Orleans got him three times, Dallas got him zero.
So no, “we played mobile quarterbacks” is not an intelligent explanation for Dallas having two sacks through three games and zero sacks in consecutive games.
Mobility and sack avoidance are not the same thing. Some mobile quarterbacks escape pressure extremely well. Others extend plays, hold the football and actually take sacks at a HIGHER rate. Likewise, some immobile pocket quarterbacks are extremely difficult to sack because they process quickly and get the ball out.
Pressure-to-sack rate measures the thing you're trying to argue about considerably better than simply looking at whether a quarterback can run.
