CBS Sports and Tony Romo have mutually agreed to part ways

It's a close one between having to listen to JJ Watt commentate or booking a one way flight to Switzerland...

Romo made a bad mistake and he has paid the price for it. Hopefully over time he will get a gig somewhere else. I enjoy listening to his insight.
Watt is extremely monotone and robotic.

Only time I knew he was a real human last week was the couple of times he was like, "BARHAM!!!"

Give him a year, maybe two. He will be back. If not a 2nd or 3rd team announcer. Maybe start out in a studio being a talking head for a year or two.

Maybe he can replace worn out Terry Bradshaw.
wouldn't that be great; replace a squealer with a cowboy

From articles over the years, CBS had talks with Romo with his on-air antics i.e. weird comments, noises, getting overly excited and just strange behavior. This sounds like the excuse to move on from him.

I always thought Romo was a terrible announcer. The immediate shtick of him predicting plays before they happened, quickly got toned down and then done away with by CBS.
yawn
most of your claims were debunked but for Romo haters no surprise

Rivers played last year.
I know but talking about remembering a while back going into a playoff game, a team had to go get a qb off the street to play in a playoff game.

i thought it was the eagles, but can't remember.

found it, crazy right!!

In August 2019, the Philadelphia Eagles lured the 40-year-old journeyman quarterback out of retirement (where he had already accepted a media job with ESPN) to serve as a veteran backup.

During the NFC Wild Card playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks in January 2020, starter Carson Wentz suffered a concussion early in the first quarter. McCown was thrust into action to make his first career postseason appearance in his 18-year NFL career. To make the performance even more legendary, McCown tore his hamstring completely off the bone during the second quarter but braved through the pain to play the entire second half because the Eagles had no other active quarterbacks. Though the Eagles ultimately lost 17-9, his gritty performance earned immense respect across the league.

Would you like to revisit any other details or stats from that specific Eagles playoff run, or look into where Josh McCown's coaching career has taken him since?

I'm anxious to hear what it is. If it is a huge number, he might decide to be a dad and coach his kids pee wee teams. He doesn't need the money.
He made a huge bundle from playing and already got most of what was in the contract anyway. So he certainly does not need the money

Romo had four years and roughly $72 million remaining on his 10-year, $180 million deal.

Just to throw a number out there....$25M settlement.

He was never returning his role as lead analyst, but I thought it would be a demotion vs firing.

There will be opportunities for him if he wants to continue.

The old guard is getting long in the tooth, and TV rights have been expanded.
If Ray Lewis can do it...Tony can too.
