That is what I don't get! If the Coach said throw it to the moon, then why didn't Dak tell that in the huddle that that is what is going to happen. Why run a freaking reciever route if that was the case?
You run the play, call a different play, call time out, or take the delay of game penalty. Receivers should never be instructed to take a play off.

You do not realize you first stated your observation of what George Pickens did after the snap, which is not what the thread is about. Then you followed with what you believe is what Schottenheimer said. That relates to the thread topic.

Is it safe saying you believe what was immediately seen, moments after the snap, was how you would coach your quarterback? That is what this thread is about. What you, the coach, would instruct your quarterback. Give me a few essays. I will not tell you to stop.
Wasn't much of a push and was also within 5 yards.

I think it was cowardly coaching. Based on coverage I think they expected the safety to cut underneath. He clearly wasnt going to make it on time. However, when you see the way they're lined up I can see the expectation your first (and only) read is covered.

Either way, we never should've played for OT with our secondary in shambles.

Are you of the belief that the Coach said to just moon it, without any other options?

The entire staff made several coaching miscues during the game. To me, it is extra troubling for Schottenheimer not being aggressive on third down. He has an opportunity to tie the game on fourth down with a field goal attempt despite the risk of an interception IF his choice is overcoaching his quarterback (his words).

He is not only sabotaging his quarterback's decision-making opportunity. He is not giving his team every opportunity to put enough points on the scoreboard.

I think the coach told him if its not there airmail it. Dak based whether it was there on the pre snap read. Thats the kind of weak trash that happens when you play ultra conservatively.

Did Schotty tell him that? I just can't imagine any starting quarterback in the NFL, not being able to change the call. I think it is just Schotty covering for Dak, the comments he made.
Well, if the Coach did tell Dak to just throw it away, you can't just blame Dak for that. That is on the Coach, period, if that were the case. IMO

Yes it was a comedy of errors to close out the game. We did everything we could to keep Baltimore in it.

So we're comparing two different situations as far as the videos? In one video, Burrows threw the touchdown, but its 2 minutes in the first quarter and if he got sacked, the game isn't over....

Opposed to Dak's situations, where he had a few seconds and no time outs. What was the purpose of putting two different scenario videos side by side when the situations were totally different? That doesn't make any sense.

Maybe there was some equipment malfunction. Schotty said, "I want you to dart one in," but dak heard, "I want you to dak one in." :(

That is a fair question for me to answer, but I choose to give Schottenheimer the benefit of the doubt based on his public statements. My focus is on the head coach trying to overcome the already known deficit of his team, his defense, by not optimizing his scoring opportunities with his team's strength, which is his offense.

Dak isnt afraid to put the ball in a tight window. He was trying to be a team player. Yeah he should've disregarded Schottenheimer, but he trusted coach was making the right call in the moment.

I think I’ve got it covered. If you don’t factor in that George Pickens pushed off and wasn’t open on the first read, then you miss why the ball was thrown away, according to Schottenheimer.

I believe it was the right call because if they had tried to throw to Pickens, there’s a good chance a flag would’ve been thrown, that’s just the Cowboys’ luck.

People have reviewed that video repeatedly and noticed the referee looked ready to throw the flag if the pass had gone to Pickens, so in the end, it’s all moot.

MOOT!

I would bet that Dak made that throw tons of time in practice and in games, I have even seen it! But, why not this time I will never know. smh

Is that leadership on Dak's part? A leader needs to trust his own judgement and act accordingly. A Quarterback is the leader of the team.

Yeah but people keep forgetting though he was not open on the first read and if he held onto the ball too long it could have got tipped he could have got sacked the ball could have got picked up but most importantly George got open because he pushed off ball was already gone technically when he was open and most likely a flag would have been thrown it was absolutely the best in my opinion option They talked about it before the play if it's not there early throw it away..

They were not playing for the tie because they were playing to win the game but they knew they needed more time than 7 seconds And we're gonna give George a chance to get open early and he didn't george had to push off like usual he doesn't get open that often unless he's physical.

That's the truth people really looked at the video many times broke it down and it looked like the posturing of the referee was ready to throw the flag but didn't because the ball got thrown away therefore so many scenarios could go in this you have to trust that if Prescott would have done that and they would have lost the game anyway you all would have been still complaining about not having the opportunity to go in overtime and win the game you act like somehow this is college or something and you don't wanna overwork your players in overtime no that's not it I don't understand any of this it's so ridiculous shot numbers not going anywhere this year he's gonna be here till the end of the year so who cares they lost the game it happens too bad so sad..

Schotty covering for Dak? For what? Dak is a grown *** man who is a veteran professional quarterback. If Dak was a rookie, I can see Schotty covering for him, but Dak is a seasoned veteran.

Schotty made the call and it was obvious after Dak threw the ball away. On the video, you can tell Dak was mad about the call and even had more to say when he went over to the bench.
