You do not realize you first stated your observation of what George Pickens did after the snap, which is not what the thread is about. Then you followed with what you believe is what Schottenheimer said. That relates to the thread topic.

Is it safe saying you believe what was immediately seen, moments after the snap, was how you would coach your quarterback? That is what this thread is about. What you, the coach, would instruct your quarterback. Give me a few essays. I will not tell you to stop.
Actually it is because you say throw it away immediately he did not throw it away immediately george Pickens was not open then he threw it away then George got open at the same time but probably would have got a flag so you think you covered it but you didn't because he did not throw it away automatically he chose not to hold onto the ball any longer to risk a sack to risk a tipped ball to risk an interception and most likely it's going to be a flag anyway so another moot point that you all are trying to create a narrative where you're putting a square peg in a round hole philosophy in hindsight doesn't work with me. in hindsight doesn't work with me

OK i'm done posting in here so you're OK I meant this particular thread I said what I need to say you all can carry on even if you want to make it ridiculous because there's nothing to really talk about it was not open immediately therefore he threw it away that's different than throwing it away without looking he looked george was covered George got uncovered too late by pushing off..

wait a minute I wasn't done but now I am. Wait a minute I wasn't done but now I am lol.. :lmao: :oldcouple:

Schotty covering for Dak? For what? Dak is a grown *** man who is a veteran professional quarterback. If Dak was a rookie, I can see Schotty covering for him, but Dak is a seasoned veteran.

Schotty made the call and it was obvious after Dak threw the ball away. On the video, you can tell Dak was mad about the call and even had more to say when he went over to the bench.
You're right if that was Aaron Rodgers he would have screamed and yelled at his coach and been a bad player trying to embarrass his coach vice versa that's how it works you don't want your coach doing the same I still don't think it was a bad call and I got to get out of here because it's frustrating me that you all didn't understand the rest of the dynamics of what could have happened...

Yeah but people keep forgetting though he was not open on the first read and if he held onto the ball too long it could have got tipped he could have got sacked the ball could have got picked up but most importantly George got open because he pushed off ball was already gone technically when he was open and most likely a flag would have been thrown it was absolutely the best in my opinion option They talked about it before the play if it's not there early throw it away..

They were not playing for the tie because they were playing to win the game but they knew they needed more time than 7 seconds And we're gonna give George a chance to get open early and he didn't george had to push off like usual he doesn't get open that often unless he's physical.

That's the truth people really looked at the video many times broke it down and it looked like the posturing of the referee was ready to throw the flag but didn't because the ball got thrown away therefore so many scenarios could go in this you have to trust that if Prescott would have done that and they would have lost the game anyway you all would have been still complaining about not having the opportunity to go in overtime and win the game you act like somehow this is college or something and you don't wanna overwork your players in overtime no that's not it I don't understand any of this it's so ridiculous shot numbers not going anywhere this year he's gonna be here till the end of the year so who cares they lost the game it happens too bad so sad..
So...you can actually see in the vid that the ref had his hand on the flag ready to throw it? Damn, you must have eagles eyes.

Im gonna say OPI is OPI. If he was gonna call it he should've. Not to say it wouldn't have played out that way.

Either way forget that play. Im going on 4th as well. We didn't have the horses for OT.

I think I’ve got it covered. If you don’t factor in that George Pickens pushed off and wasn’t open on the first read, then you miss why the ball was thrown away, according to Schottenheimer.

I believe it was the right call because if they had tried to throw to Pickens, there’s a good chance a flag would’ve been thrown, that’s just the Cowboys’ luck.

People have reviewed that video repeatedly and noticed the referee looked ready to throw the flag if the pass had gone to Pickens, so in the end, it’s all moot.

MOOT!
bzzz. wrong. On the replay, if you pay attention, Dak threw the ball away before he had a chance to see any of that you claim. He telegraphed his throwaway. Also, do refs only throw flags if the offense completes an successful play, or would they have thrown a flag even if Dak threw it away? There was no flag, so no penalty was going to be called.

Never heard the term when you're watching a game in here and say wow that was a late flag right because sometimes they decide not to bother throwing it since it wouldn't have affected the play but if Prescott would have completed that pass for a touchdown it was likely that pass was gonna be called an OPI the likely that it's there the option was there and most people seen the posturing look like he was reaching back for a flag and they said oh never mind don't need it.

A little shocked to some of y'all like you've never watched a game and heard that term when they're calling the game wow that flag was late You know because the flag might have been thrown and then the defender would have been really animated if that ball is completed and it's a touchdown and been calling for it and all of a sudden the flag comes out you've never seen that before because apparently you knew to football because I've been watching sports a long time and there's been some late whistles and some late flags and some crazy things gone down when you think that maybe it couldn't..

So we're comparing two different situations as far as the videos? In one video, Burrows threw the touchdown, but its 2 minutes in the first quarter and if he got sacked, the game isn't over....

Opposed to Dak's situations, where he had a few seconds and no time outs. What was the purpose of putting two different scenario videos side by side when the situations were totally different? That doesn't make any sense.
The post, which includes the side-by-side videos, fully discloses the difference in the two situations. A better side-by-side video example would have been the exact same set of circumstances--involving the same down-and-distance, where the ball was placed at the time of the snap, the intended receiver running a quick out pattern, etc.--but I did not locate an equivalent example during my search.

I propose this. If you can locate a video mirroring the exact set of events seen in last Sunday's game, please tell me where the video is located. I will voluntarily create another side-by-side video and post it in this thread.

Well, here’s the problem, if you don’t go for the win, you’ve already lost , you hit the receiver, touchdown
You throw an interception game over
It’s game over if you don’t do anything
Might as well try,
I call the play and I shut my mouth,
I deal with it in the locker room after
Tying the game, going into overtime
The team is drained, injuries on both sides of the ball

This is your best chance call the play,
And let it go where it goes

Now that you don't understand this the scenarios are completely different that was earlier in a game this was the last play of a game you would you would hope that you either win it on a touchdown or you tie on a field goal the scenarios and decision making are completely different in those parts of the games..

It's OK that you're really trying to make this work and those are two completely different scenarios and if you didn't notice how far back that DB flew and not notice that George Pickens pushed off that's another difference But you can keep arguing this all you want i'm saying those two videos are not the same One is in the middle of a game and one is at the very last 10 seconds of a game there are big differences in decision making.

The fact is you're really trying to make this as if Brian made a really big mistake or Prescott wasn't man enough to counterman his commands and both are not true..

Forget what you're trying to do and I think we're already here on Saturday Less than 24 hours until the next game and you're still harping on this one thing in hindsight and using the wrong videos to support your narrative..

But given the fact that I already said I wasn't gonna post anymore indeed I don't know I'm gonna turn off my computer and run away from this right now and see you at the Texans game in which Schottenheimer will not be fired and should not be fired by the results of this game just in case I need to cover it on the other thread or the other 16 ridiculous threads that were still talking about the last game when we were about to play the Texans in less than 24 hours...

ughhh

Is that leadership on Dak's part? A leader needs to trust his own judgement and act accordingly. A Quarterback is the leader of the team.

All quarterbacks aren't leaders of the team just because they play quarterback.

Who do you believe was the team leader of the mid 80s Chicago Bears, the quarterback Jim McMahon or LB Mike Singletary?

Who do you think the team leader of the 2000s Ravens was, the quarterback Joe Flacco or Ray Lewis? I could go on and on, but playing quarterback doesn't make automatically make you the team leader.

This isn't The Longest Yard.

Nice! At least go down fighting is all , instead of the clustermess we all saw.

NOPE GP pushed of want open early, and likely would have flag if he caught it.. facts, just stop already..

the plan is open early throw it if not throw it away, that was the right call..
Aren't you allowed to hand fight within 5 yards? In other words, I don't think the Offensive PI is automatic here.

And?
Regardless of whether he pushed off or not Dak should have thrown that ball to him.
If they throw a flag then they throw a flag and we kick the FG.
Just throwing it away there was a wasted play. You play to win, not tie.

That’s what I saw, if you slow it down, he was covered, by the time the ball was in the air. Pickens broke free.
Was Dack throwing it away anyways, that’s what I don’t know
And if it helps earlier in the game, the same situation , Pickens was covered like a blanket

Okay. Okay. Dak is not the leader of this team. Geez. you got me to admit it... So Schotty is the leader of the team, or who?

So do you think that Dak was told to never audible out of a play?

I feel you guys are focusing too much on the the play and on Pickens and Dak. This thread is about Schotty. Schotty said in his presser that he told Dak to throw it away. Everything else is speculation. Would it have been a flag in GP? Who knows, that’s speculation. Could Dak have made the throw, speculation.

It is concrete black and white that Schotty said he coached Dak to throw the ball away. So the poll of this thread is if you’re the coach what do you tell Dak?

My main issue with this whole situation is if it’s true that Schotty told Dak to throw it away then why? If Milton was playing then it’s maybe acceptable to coach the QB to throw it away. But when the greatest QB in Dallas Cowboys history (according to some) is told to throw the ball away what does that say about Schotty’s coaching? His relationship and trust with Dak? And/or his competency to manage a game and understand the ebbs and flows of a game?

I said this after the game and 6 days later I’m still stuck on it. If Schotty told Dak to throw it away we are in far more trouble as a team than if Dak missed the throw or missed the read.
