I’m calling a quick slant to Pickens. Telling Dak fire that ball right into his belly.
On one hand he is supposedly a top 6 to 10 quarterback they say, on the other hand he should follow what the play caller calls, and not change the play, as if he was not a top 10 quarterback. The arguments people are giving, all the double talk, sure doesn't paint a consistent picture.

But I'm with you, even if he is not a top 10 quarterback, he should decide. But on one hand people were saying Dak was being micromanage, but on the other hand why would a top 10 quarterback let himself get micro managed. People are changing their positions, from post to post; what's going on here? Are they arguing in good faith, the same people that accuse others of agendas?

I know you probably disagree, but Dak doesn't have the reputation of being a Big Game or Playoff quarterback because he is not good under pressure. It is your opinion it was humidity; it is my opinion that the pressure was up, because it was a 9/11 game in new york, and he wasn't ready for the big game atmosphere he got. I didn't mention humidity, because my quick search didn't show it and I thought Feels like is good enough since humidity tends to increase feels like, but since the feels like was lower than the actual temperature, I guess the humidity help cool down the the players? To me its yet another excuse, but you are free to your own opinion. My opinion is he cracked under pressure; your's is it was hot and humid and yet he didn't switch to a helmet without a shield to help himself.

How am I giving an excuse for a player sweating after working out and playing in warm weather? Thats a fact that ALL mammals sweat when exertion happens especially in warm weather.... then for the simple fact that you said maybe humidity helps cool the players down? Are you serious?

I made a case that its stupid to point out an athlete sweating, when all athletes sweat. Thats just crazy.

No where did I say Dak was elite in big games or elite in the playoffs. Thats a level he definitely has to push himself to.

To conclude, Dak was sweating in the Commanders game. So what was he pressured about then while the Cowboys were in the lead? If he's so pressured during games, why does he have some of the best production league wide when pressured by blitzes? That doesn't make sense.

I'll leave you with this. It doesn't take elite quarterbacks to help teams win playoff games. It takes elite play from teams to win playoff games. There are elite quarterbacks who've never been to or won a Superbowl.... and every quarterback who was part of a team winning a Superbowl weren't always elite.

Yes it would be great if Dak reaches that elite status in the playoffs. That would definitely increase our chances to win it all, but it definitely doesn't guarantee a playoff victory.

So this is a weird question.

What does trust means in this context? Trusting judgment? Trust his mechanics? Trust his leadership? Trust his o-line management skills? Trust his instincts?

Dak lacks some off them, so the coach should complement his lack of skills with guidance.

He is a 11 year old veteran, pro browler and mvp candidate, he should have level of trust, but the coach is there for a reason.

You may say “I trust your judgment”, but lets try this, what you think?

Is a teams sport…

You give Pickens a chance. You can trust him to battle for the ball and not allow an interception. That's Pickens' greatest strength.

Dak knows this. It's on him. Shotty is just covering.
Dak lost his mind twice on that series:

1st down audibles out of the run.. throws a stupid *** fade.

And then the 3rd down debacle.

It’s all so tiresome

Don’t forget him scrambling on 2nd down for two yards forcing them to use the last timeout.

I just see this whole thing of well he was just following the coaches call as a bit lame. I can see it, in that Dak never looked elsewhere, but that to me isn't good quarterback play either to get a good view of the field and telegraph where you going to throw it to. But I'm just thinking who is the playcaller. I mean when he got hired, I was exactly what makes him someone special you want to hire? The reason I bring that up, is when I see that play it makes me think of the good old days of when John Madden was the color commentator. And with that much time on the clock he would always say that the QB has another shot at the endzone to take. So Madden Philosophy of having another shot at the endzone versus a no name unproven coach that hasn't done anything here.... I'm going with one more shot at the endzone, over being overly conservative, which helped to the events to lost us the game.

Then we are getting fed double narratives at the same time by the same people I think. On one hand Dak was mad at the coach and yelling at the sidlines, which I didn't get from watching the highlights. On the other hand it supposedly was the right play and Dak was a good boy and followed the play because it was situational football. Which is in? Why two Narratives. Suspicious.
Well I don't even know if I really believe shawty that deck was supposed to throw it away. I think shawty is lying trying to fall on the sword for deck but I don't know. I'm not in the meeting room so maybe cuz why call passing play? If we're just supposed to throw it away, why wouldn't you run the ball? So many questions but and again if if Doug just didn't see him, I'm okay. I get it if it was just bang bang and he thought he saw somebody over there or whatever I can accept that I can't accept. I just threw it away because that's what I was told to do that that doesn't work for me. That's not what I want. My $60 million quarterback doing out there just being a complete robot yeah and that's why I like Romo better. Yes, Romo had his issues but at least he put the game in his hands and he was either going to win or lose by what he saw in the field and what he could do and I can respect that. Cannot respect somebody who just throws the ball away without giving his team a chance to win

No way in hell he told him to throw it away no matter what. 0% chance.

Apparently he did tell him to throw it away because you can tell by Daks reaction after that play. Dak looked piss and had a mouthful to say walking to the sidelines and walking to the bench.

Then Schotty apologized for how he called the last series. It doesn't take a rocket science to see his body language afterwards and Schottys apology.

I know some of yall don't want to believe that was Schotty's call because it would take away the normal finger pointing to the same player after every Cowboys loss, but yall can't lean on that narrative this time.

Maybe after another loss, but we didn't lose this game because of Dak this time and it angers some of you.

No way in hell. Why even call a play there instead of taking a knee if you plan to kick the fg anyway? Still could get sacked. Again, big difference between throw it away no matter if everyone is open or throw it away if its not there. And theres no way he told him the former.

You just made my point my friend. Yes, why would he handle that last series the way he did? We can both agree there. That's why Schotty apologized for the way he called that last series and the way he handled the management of it. He specifically said what he believed he did wrong.

The same things you pointed out, were the same things he apologized for. Im glad you finally get it. Coaches are hired and responsible for what they tell the team to do, coaches are responsible for clock management, etc.

Circumstances change in the red zone in a microsecond your quarterback needs to be able to anticipate and read what is happening.

That ball should have been on its way should have been pure muscle memory.

I don't care what that idiot Brian schottenheimer told him to do.

Things change in the heat of the moment and you have to be able to adapt and overcome that's what we pay him $60 million to be able to do.

When the field gets small and things go into warp speed his processing and decision making is just way too slow.

Good quarterbacks coaches and receivers are on the same page especially at an NFL level and make plays like that routinely.

Our third world coaching combined with our athletically talented short bus riding players can't react fast enough for these type of challenges.

That's why they're ceiling will always be just making the playoffs.

Sorry, we don't agree. I think this was a lot of BS falling on the sword for the team. I'm not a fan of his, but no coach just tells the qb to throw it away no matyer what. Look at Pickens and how hard he ran that route. You really think he's going hard if he knows that ball is going into the stands?

See there you going playing that double game again. That it was the right call, and that Dak did the right thing because it is situational football, and furthermore it was another play that lost the game. Or it was the wrong call, Dak knew it and was so pissed that that he had an angry look on his face and gave shotty a mouthful while walking to the sidelines? Those are two different narratives, and you been playing both when it is convenient. What is the agenda for playing two inconsistent narratives like that? BTW, that thing about the look is opinion and not fact, and to me it looked more like Dak realized that Pickens was open after he telegraphed his throwaway.

I don't know about a walk to the sidelines or not since the footage I was looking at didn't have dak looking towards the sidelines and walking back, so I don't know if it exists or not. BTW, when the last time you thought we lost a game because of DAK? I've been consistent that the Team lost this game, but we didn't win this game because of that play, which is the one most people remember. It is the play where people at a sports bar all notice at once, and were vocal about. It is the play that Shoddy had to rush out to the media to try to quell the heat on the quarterback and say it was his call. It is the play people remember for a reason, because it would've won us the game, if either the Headcoach or the quarterback weren't too conservative there. It is also a play that could've helped us reach overtime, if the time management there was better (and yes I know about the bad time management elsewhere in the game)

That there is it in a nutshell. We have people doing arguments that contradict each other because they are trying to have it both ways, so they are being inconsistent. Either Dak did no wrong and followed Shoddy's call, which was the right call because it is situational football. Or Shoddy isn't exactly known to be one of the best play callers out there, like Garrett, and it is partly Dak's fault for not having the leadership instincts to go against schotty's bad calls. It's logic 101, and some people need to have it both ways just leave gaps in logic and show that it is an agenda driven attempt. Its about as feeble as the whole excuse that Dak wasn't panicking against the Giants, that look was because he was hot, but well I guess the Giants can take the heat better than someone who plays in Texas and it didn't bother them. Or the Eagles had some picklejuice and gave it to the Giants, or something.

I don't know if it's already been mentioned in this thread but I would like to respond to the argument some have suggested that if Dak had thrown it to Pickens for a TD then the ref would have thrown the flag for OPI. My response to that is so what?

Had that been the case, then the Ravens surely wouldn't have declined the penalty. They would have accepted the penalty, thereby giving us another shot on 3rd down for our 60 million QB to air mail another pass into the stands... with replay showing both Ferguson and CeeDee open in the end zone.

Im just going to put it in a nutshell. We loss a game we probably should have won if everyone did their jobs properly. The head coach is responsible for having his team ready to complete at a high level all across the team.

That didn't happen, we loss the game for whatever reasons people believe. Statistics show when NFL teams score 31 points, the team wins 80% of the time. The statistics also show that when a team gives up 34 points, they only have a 15% chance of winning.

At the end of the day, ive watched former coaches and former players dissect this game and for some reasons the majority of these experienced people saw what I saw.

This is a new week and its on to the Houston Texans. Hopefully the people who really made the mistakes that costed us the game, learned from their mistakes and make the right calls/make the right plays on all 3 units.

Again, from the reaction of Dak heading to the sidelines frustrated after that play and watching him shouting out what he shouting out to Schotty publicly apologizing for the way he say that he personally handled that last series and then Schotty also saying that he hopes Dak continues to trust him in those situations.....

Its obvious he told Dak to throw the ball away if the first read wasn't open, and when Dak threw it away as his right tackle was being pushed into his face, nobody was open.

Its pretty obvious to me, but hey... it is what it is. Its on to the Texans now. That game is in the past.

When is the last time a head coach, here in Dallas, has done his job to get his team ready to compete at a high level? Hence me dismissing them on this board as puppet coaches, because the culture here is broken. If since Parcels, we haven't had any coach get the team ready to compete at a high level, isn't it futile to have an expectation that they will? It's been my position now for several years, that leadership will have to come from the players, somehow, rather than the coaching staff, because that is what Jerry has built here.

Did I have much faith in Shoddy doing his job? Did you? That is why my position is that if Dak is an on the field leader, he has to take on some of the responsibility from the coach. Heck, Aikman talks about having to do when switzer was here. I know it is hard for a quarterback to do, but it is what it is, what Jerry has built here. We had a video here about that play where in the discussion a former player under Romo said that Romo was in a similar situation where Garrett gave him the bad call, and Romo realized it, and took on leadership and changed the call. Eitherway, logic dictates either Shoddy made the right call and Dak followed it, or Shoddy did the wrong call, dak was mad about it as you say, but he followed it anyway. I mean you can't blame shoddy, say it was a bad call, and then say that was good leadership on Dak's part, while saying that Dak was livid about it and yelling at the sidelines about the call. It just isn't logical.

NOPE GP pushed of want open early, and likely would have flag if he caught it.. facts, just stop already..

the plan is open early throw it if not throw it away, that was the right call..
"FACTS"?

You saying "likely would have been a flag"...is most certainly the OPPOSITE of 'facts".

Stop lecturing other people about "facts".
