News: Lane Johnson is retiring

Evidently his parents haven’t been doing well for a while.
aww man. I was gonna make a joke that he saw that 93 yard performance from Hurts and called it quits, but If this is his reasoning then i respect him putting family first and hope his parents make full recovery from whatever is ailing them.

It doesn't look good for the Eagles. They have a long list of injuries. A good chance that they lose again this week.

His FIL is pretty sick and during training camp he announced this was his last year. Between his history with mental health issues and the family stuff I think he recognized his heart wasn’t in it. Football is not a sport to be half in / half out or you end up getting hurt.

Glad he was able to prioritize his mental health and family.

He was an Eagle but you have to respect the incredible career. Likely the best RT of his generation.

Also, he very well might have been preparing in the off-season with steroids (lots of players do) -- he might have popped positive for the third time. If that is the case, good for the league to allow him to retire rather than take his third (year long) suspension.

First ballot HoF, right there.

He may not have wanted to go to London this week and just decided it was time to retire rather than be that far away from family.
But, you may be right.
I won't miss him either way. He was awesome at RT.

Get off that -- East Coast to London is not much more time than trips to CA. This isn't normals having to clear security and get to the airport 2 hours early to be cramped in economy.

They are flying on a charter -- likely with seats that let them lie down and sleep.

Flying to London is not a big deal.

You should travel more
