He was up around 290 at his pro-day. He’s probably playing around there if not a smidge heavier.

Overton was always going to be a very good run stopping DL. Prolly the surest thing in our draft after Downs. High floor, low ceiling type. Good player, quite useful to the D. The type Jerry has avoided drafting for decades.

I cannot be happier than I am about what the Cowboys have done at the DT position. Overton has looked promising for sure. We have to see development year over year. If we get that from him, he could be better than Odighizuwa. But don't knock Ogbonnia. He has been good too but he is a different style of player. He clogs the middle and will make the tackle from tackle to tackle. You won't see him get pressure on the QB, but in the run defense he is definitely an upgrade over the DTs the Cowboys have had in the past.

I started following him this past spring pre-draft and he is one of my usual #1 go-to listens while out working on the tick ranch here. You'll get a like from me for picking up on that ... I need to be a bit more subtle.

Maybe that'll change but why not, a quicker more twitchy guy as a role player inside at 3/5 Tech, I forget the other stuff you can do with a lot of these guys in a 34 but in certain situations he could be the outside linebacker he played that as well but sure we got big dudes but sometimes you need some little dudes find a Cowboys version of NASCAR package Well I have to say NASCAR late because we don't have those dudes but yeah I'm sure they'll find a role for him.

Overton started taking snaps from Otito Ogbonnia against the Texans. It will be worth watching if that continues. As with most day 3 picks, they need time or get stronger to adjust to the NFL. The coaching staff must feel he can play at Ogbonnia's level or getting close now and that is a good thing. What I'm really looking for is his play next summer. It wouldn't surprise me if he becomes a starter next year. Maybe later this year!

Ogbonnia has been fantastic this year.

He spent some time in the blue tent Sunday.

Both he and Ogbonnia are beginning to make me wonder about trading Clark. I like KC a lot, but the production hasn’t been there this year yet. Is that about scheme? Maybe, but only to a certain extent.

If we could get a 2027 4th for him next offseason (or maybe even a 3rd before the deadline this year), I’d be happy with that.

Only if Clark's money is reallocated well. Otherwise, I'd really like to keep some DL depth.

I get that but if 6 or 7 players are playing at a high level they should be better than they are. Last year the defense was just as bad but with far worse players.

Brother there's no need to start off like that. There's about 20 here that I totally respect because you all are fair minded fans, with no agenda other than you all want to win.

Ranching, after the loss to the Ravens spoke his mind. One said something like "Find another team" "Hater" like they say Rockport always does to fans who complain all the time. It's stupid that they can't see the difference in the criticism from you and Ranching, and from others here who NEVER have a good thing to say about our team, even after a win.

I wish you, Ranching and those other fair-minded fans would speak up because it's more believable, imo. We (fair-minded fans) know the difference between your criticism and the criticism from those lunatics who hang out under the bridge here who stay quiet after a win but come out in full force when we lose.

Now to your thoughts here. I think we're showing some improvement. Parker is new to this; he's working with new players, and several are rookies too, and some of those players never played in the type of scheme Parker is running. I'm only a coach coach/GM, but I think D is starting to show signs of life. I think you said in another thread that we only need to be around 20th in league. I agree and that's very reasonable to think we can get to that. Long as our offense keeps us in games until the defense gets to that ranking, we have a shot.
