Overton being overlooked?

[817Gill]

At 275 lbs, I would imagine he's a situational player in this scheme, but CP may see him differently.

He was up around 290 at his pro-day. He’s probably playing around there if not a smidge heavier.

Overton was always going to be a very good run stopping DL. Prolly the surest thing in our draft after Downs. High floor, low ceiling type. Good player, quite useful to the D. The type Jerry has avoided drafting for decades.

We hit on all our picks or most of them and this defense does have a chance to be dominant in the next 2-3 years

Perfectly worded.

"Has a chance"

"2-3 years"

I wish more fans used this kind of critical thinking rather than absolutisms and final analysis based on very little evidence.

Man I hate to be that guy but there’s about 5 or 6 guys who people keep saying are playing good football on this defense…just for us to be one of the worst in the league. How can everyone be playing this good and we still suck?

hopefully growing pains and bad breaks. i’ve seen flashes all over despite knowing the overall results. optimistic

This YouTube guy has me thinking he’ll be pretty good

He's playing the run like a veteran already.

He will probably be about 290 this time next year

He was 289 at his pro day.

And I get that but they are giving up pretty much 30 everrytime they play. I just don't get it.

The bottom line is they don't really suck.

I cannot be happier than I am about what the Cowboys have done at the DT position. Overton has looked promising for sure. We have to see development year over year. If we get that from him, he could be better than Odighizuwa. But don't knock Ogbonnia. He has been good too but he is a different style of player. He clogs the middle and will make the tackle from tackle to tackle. You won't see him get pressure on the QB, but in the run defense he is definitely an upgrade over the DTs the Cowboys have had in the past.
