Not really. As a unit, they still are a bottom feeder defense. Parker's scheme is likely the issues.
But do you think QW, KC, Downs, Barham, etc can play their position and keep Ready Steward and Bland from giving up huge plays in the secondary at the same time? It just doesn't work like that. There guys are making plays in spite of all of the issues.
Sometimes good players play on bad defenses. Sometimes bad players are weak links on good defenses.
I'd look at who's constantly getting toasted out there (Bland, Steward, Carson, Bell). These guys are JAGs in this scheme.
We need 11 good defenders on defense, not 6-7 all-stars.
It’s not entirely his scheme or playcalling. Having five injured players, many of them key starters or heavy contributors, is a big factor.
They’re not all back yet, and now they’ve JUST added JPJ.
Most of us already figured it might take until midseason to get things where he wants them, and with the injuries plus a new player in the mix, he’s working to get it on track.
I’m looking at Game 10 to really see where they are. I want to see this team fully healthy, especially in the areas hit hardest, mainly safeties, corners, and a linebacker. Sure, other teams deal with injuries too, but it slows down the progress of flipping a roster and implementing a new scheme.
That was always going to be a huge undertaking, no matter who’s on defense. And here’s proof: the Houston Texans, a playoff-caliber defense with one of the best units in the league last year, same scheme, same players, and a defensive head coach, still had trouble stopping our offense when we lit them up in the second half, and they were pretty healthy.
So before blaming Christian Parker after just four games and a slew of injuries, maybe take a little splash of cold water we call reality.
And then lastly not an excuse they have yet to have any of their pass rushers become impactful at all they're hardly noticed on the field he does not have a top 15 pass rusher in this league let alone top 10 or top 5 Yay spent $200 million over there with the Texans just on the defensive line over the offseason they paid them they made sure they stayed they add some more..
Again, it might take a second offseason to really see this take off but for sure stop judging it after four games yes it has a lot of work that needs to be done but I'm not giving up on the fact that he can become a very good coordinator when we get enough pieces here for the 34 again have it healthy.
