Two tipped passes. Int. Ever happen?

This thread will get the flak it both deserves and not deserve, but it is a topic I have spoken on for much of my adult life. There should be an official NFL statistic that tracks tipped interceptions.

I put 100% blame on a quarterback who cannot place the ball within a receiver's catch radius, and the defender can haul it in. Quarterbacks are responsible for those mistakes.

The same goes for passes that a receiver can only get their fingertips on and the ball slips through. The palms of your hands practically dictate stopping and grasping a thrown football. Even one-handed catches involve the receiver cupping their fingers to funnel the ball into their palm.

Balls ricocheting off hands? 100% on the receiver. Balls getting into the body and bouncing off chest, helmet, thighs, etc.? Ditto. That's completely the receiver not doing their job. Heck. It is the receiver's job to not allow a defender to pin one of their arms in order to catch a pass.

Just my take. I think it is fair criticizing a quarterback for interceptions. Criticizing the quarterback after he has done his job getting the ball to his receiver and not the defense? No. That is neither fair nor logical. May as well ask the quarterback to run where his receiver is and hand it to him on a silver platter. That's ridiculous. It's football. Make receivers do what they are paid to do and not give them excuses.

We had two tipped passes. Both were intercepted. Has this ever happened before? They were high but both should have been caught.
2 tipped passes last week were caught by CeeDee and Luepke. On this day, the ball didn't bounce our way.

To be honest, Dak leads the league in tight window aka ill-advised throws if you're careless. Touch AND accuracy matters in the moments.

The one to Fergi hit him in his helmet. It was in his eye level. He just didnt extend for it like a good reciever should.

In the Texans game a pass went right through the defenders hand. All QB’s get lucky and unlucky both ways. Sometimes it just about minimizing risk, putting touch on passes and putting the ball the best spot for a pass catcher. Dak has always been below average at that, which is why he requires amazing talent around him to not look terrible

Oh, it's happened maybe 500 times.
Come on, tipped pass ints happen all the time.

the 2nd one should've been caught, though it was made much more difficult because it was thrown at max speed on a short route.

Its from his link. It was more on topic than your schtick.
The link is schtick......Tipped passes become what they become......no harm, or possible & probable interceptions in traffic. Sometimes they happen. And a Dak or other QB may or may not get grace from them. As for tipped pass memory..............Noah "I been here too long" Brown, all but wiggled like a fish out of water to cause an OT win for Jax a few years ago. Remember?......it happens. We assess Dak for tossing high last night and we assess balls hitting WR in the hands. Fergie was very uncertain with pass catching last night. It doesn't always bring favorable results.

Well why didn;t you say that to HIM then?

Yep...we alreadyhave a consensus on Ferg...that's no revelation.

Yes...interceptions and tippsed passes are not always on the QB. But somtimes they are. Assessing Dak's play has zero bearing on anyone else...inlcuding Schott, Jerry, a game from 16 years ago...etc.

Dak surely had some throwing jitters last night. Cannot be denied.

Well...I guess it COULD be...but it's a lie.

It doesn;'t mean everything was all Dak's fault. It means we're just talking about Dak.

Dink has never been a ball placement QB. The videos are out there. Y’all all have seen them. I’ve pounded this board about his lack of accuracy for years. The stat stains defend him because they are clueless.

Fair enough SteveTheCowboy....I'll flag myself like refs do to Revels and Bland

I'm going to start calling Steele the culprit .......every game, going forward.....never a game where he dominates at a point or two.. Dak name comes up more than an Andy Griffith rerun.......gonna get a lot of Steele and some more Fergie in on the Fall Guy action.

From 16 years ago? REALLY?

yeah...nobody sings Dak's praises...ever.

The OP asked if it had happened "ever"... yes, it had.

Right. Because talking about Dak means everyone else is totally blameless. Obviously.

Start your Ferg thread and Steele thread. We've already seen tons of comments about them..but stop complaining like somone yelled at you "embarassing!"... and start the threads.

So the ball to fergi was eye level, ended up hitting his helmet i this k and bounced

He should have extended his arm and catch the ball. He didn't

This is not defense of Dak as he had a bad game for sure. But you picked on wrong throws to drive your agenda. There were so many other options.

Your t are on this was wrong.

Don't forget, Fergi dropped another easy pass that would have put us in 2nd and 2 inside redzone.
