Going for 2 costs us Guyton

Dak just drove us down to win it last week. He drove us 99 yards for a td before the messed up 2pt, he drove us down to the goal line against the Ravens only for Schotty to tell him to throw it out of bounds. He’s capable of doing it. The fact is we needed two TD for sure anyway, to win you have to go for 2 on one of them…,there’s no reason to go for 2 on the first TD when u can be safer and kick to make it a 7 point game and still go for 2 on the next TD….vs doing what they did and being desperate to only tie with a two point conversion with the second TD. Zero reason to go for two on the first TD when they had to score again anyway and could have gone for two on the next one for the win. Unnecessary risk and it bit them.
laughing. He's just dak good, but not good enough to win anything. i hope that loser Niki puts out some shirts that say that. Just do it, like dak and choke......

I believe in momentum in sports and creating stress for your opponent. Don't take unnecessary risks. The Cowboys were rolling, they had all the momentum, the crowd was into it, and Tampa was shook. By taking the risk to go for 2 and not converting, it swung some of the momentum back to Tampa's side. You could even sense it in the crowd because they were confused and it was like a buzzkill.

Then that allowed Tampa to have a little more confidence on their final drive to seal the game. Less pressure and stress when you know your opponent has to get a stop, get the ball back, score a TD, AND convert a 2-point conversion just to tie

Why in the world did they go for 2 there? Especially at home. These idiots always have to try to be smarter.

He’s consistently near the top of the league in passing when healthy. Not everyone can have a mahomes or burrow or josh Allen….and they have crappy games too. Dak isn’t the real problem. Dak was blah in the first half yes, but those two picks were drops, and the d and coaching was garbage….like fire CP and Schotty bad. But…..we are talking about the two point try and WHEN to do it…..u don’t do it on the first td, u do it on the second td after making the game within 7 vs failing the first time and screwing yourself for the second td. U can still go for 2 to win, but do it after the second TD.

In hindsight it makes more sense than it seemed to at the time. Getting the ball back and scoring a touchdown would have won it in regulation instead of trusting this defense to hold up for a ten minute overtime session.

NO. Going for 2 is what the metrics say is the right thing to do.

If we had got the two point conversion, then scored again we kick the extra point to win. YOu can't set yourself up for winning if you kick the extra point on the first TD.
Of course you set yourself up to win the game if you kick the PAT on the first TD. You can go for 2 on the second TD.

Analytics does not take into account every variable. Most important variable: Tampa Bay had Shottenheiner and Dak confused throughout the game.

Who do you trust more Boyles to dial up a smart defensive concept or Shottenheiner to dial up a smart offensive concept?
After watching Dak and Shottenheiner throughout the game, I think Boyles has the better chance of coming up with a smart defensive play, by far!!!

Analytics does not take into account how a specific game is playing out!!!!

Yeah, and those 2 super bowls he won should make everyone appreciate him......who could we have found to do that?

my bad that was 2 playoff wins.

By that same logic we need to stop punting at all and go for 2 every time. That's where the philosophy of these analytics naturally leads.

It's just a fad, and in a few years when the nerds run the analytics on the analytics they'll find that success went down instead of up.

I get why they do it. I’m not a fan but they are playing the numbers. I can’t complain about them being aggressive. Because I hate the timid conservative but overall jt goes to show you what we are working with as coach.

One game they play conservative and play for the field goal. The next they go for 2 point conversions to win. A intern as head coach. Intern at DC…intern at special teams. Pure stupidity.

Blaming injury on it though is silly. Injury was probably always happening.

I thought this was about going for two after the first TD? Ur tuning this into “I hate Dak” thing for some reason. The D is worse than last year, historically bad, coaching sucks, running game sucks….but all u want to do is blame everything on Dak…when we were talking about when to go for two, which is a COACHING issue?

I agree. Analytics lump all the games together and come up with a number telling teams when to do this and when to do that. Seems like it's the coaching equivalent of a high school kid trying to get AI to write an essay for him.

Going for 2 is an absolute no-brainer in that instance.

Forget the models, you need to limit the number of times the opponent gets the ball. If you have a chance to win the game by getting only one stop, you take it.
Naturally then we need to go for 2 every single time, and also stop punting punting on 4th down. That's where your "no brainer" logic leads us to.

how many more years does jerry need to try to find 52 guys to carry dak. I can wait another 10 or 20 years. He might get lucky. go dak.......dak choke attack on three..............*three*

They miss and it's 24-22. They had to get one of 2 conversions to tie the game. Just crazy.

The result of a game played 10 years ago by completely different players, coaches, rules conditions and circumstances at different points of a game has zero influence on the present. Analytics are informational, but situational nuance is coaching.
Actually. It is totally relevant because it tells you, historically, what the better call is. What more often leads to a win.

So situational coaching would lead you to a different decision?

Nice hindsight. Go take a few statistics courses and maybe you will better understand.

I guess i'm with the consensus here. You don't go for two just yet Just kick the dammm point and think about it later if you wanna go for the win. As for Guyton i guess he could get hurt on any down. So i don't blame this. But again, just kick the XP ....don't have to go for the two just to tie next time.
