This was first season in 3 years I felt hope starting to come back

LMAO... take that kid's costume off and get some fresh air. sheesh..Hope and Dallas in the same sentence. roflmao.

Firstly, I'm not wearing my fursuit right now. Secondly, I enjoy wearing it when the time is right to wear it (like Halloween and furry conventions), thirdly, it's a lot more expensive than a "costume" lol

And why is all of that the case?

You can’t throw lobster, rack of lamb, caviar and foie gras into a pot and think it’s all going to taste good. Then if it doesn’t, think about getting a filet mignon to add.

It’s just not how things work. You need stock and seasonings, herbs etc…the right mix, and more importantly someone who knows what to do and not do.

Chef Jerry collects players and coaches and thinks he is the master architect of it all because he once worked a burger grill for a summer in the early 60s.

But it’s his restaurant and he and his kids are having fun. We have no real choice but to eat there.

No argument here. I just think it's telling that the players had a look like they couldn't care less.

Honestly, this was the first season in 3 years where I felt actual hope starting to come back. And that's been bashed into the ground. I hated the feeling of not looking forward to a season. I hated the feeling that we had no shot. And this offseason actually gave me hope. We actually seemed to be doing things a better way. But no. Nothing changes. Just spirals down the toilet.

I genuinely don't know what to do. I'm a diehard fan. I genuinely love the Cowboys. But, at the same time, it's hard knowing that this team just doesn't have what it takes.
I hope you learned your lesson

I hope all fans learned their lesson and just quit this team completely

im dressing as stephen for Halloween and i will be walking around with an ax and a block of wood
Put a 5-gallon bucket on your head and draw some eyes and stupid glasses, and nobody will ever know you're not him.

Ehh..the time to rebuild everything from scratch was after the GB playoff debacle ..now we just hover around mid ..think anywhere from 7-10 to 10-7

Take it from a fan of 51 years:
Know that until Jerry moves on things are not going to change despite the superficial changes made every off season.
Just watch out of curiosity and enjoy the entertainment.
Don’t get too invested in the team knowing they aren’t going anywhere of significance.

Well, it seems that 31 fanbases are allowed to be hopeful. But if a Cowboys fan ever feels anything resembling hope, it's "There's that delusional Cowboys fan". It's like, I'm sorry, but this is my favourite team. I'm allowed to cheer on and be a fan of this team as much as anyone else has a right to be a fan of the other 31 teams. It's crazy how we Cowboys fans are targeted more than other fanbases. Last night wouldn't be so bad if most of the country wasn't enjoying our misery
Grow up. You got fooled again despite all the evidence you've seen. I've warned you that you were only deluding yourself so I know you are mad at me for that based upon the use of that phrasing, but too damn bad. You have to face reality and smarten up. None of those other 31 fan bases have Jerry Jones as their tyrant owner and GM so that comparison is stupid and doesn't apply to the Cowboys. Just face facts and stop eating the cheese every year. Your anger is misplaced because people don't like admitting they've been fooled yet again.

And that's the thing, my bar could not have been much lower considering how the division was shaping up. And honestly, the defence wasn't even the problem today. They only gave up 7 in the first half, and it should have been 0 if Bland wasn't idiotic. I expect more than 7 from our $100+ mil offense.
This is the most pragmatic thing you said.
You had hope….funny.

That’s what he needs, tough love.
Thanks, daddy.

Sure, but with the way the division was shaping up, it looked like it would be reasonable to expect the team to at least make it to the playoffs. This division should be winnable. The Eagles suck. The Commanders suck. I was a little worried about the Giants, but if the Cowboys played to potential, there is no reason we shouldn't be winning this division. Unfortunately, the team doesn't want it enough
What IS their potential?
Seriously. In the last 20 something years I’ve never felt that this team had much of potential, except that one year with Romo. But that was short lived.

As in, if the offense was as dynamic as it was last year and if the D could just be average, the Cowboys should more than easily win the division. Part of my frustration with the Bucs game is that the D conceded 7 points in the first half, and it should have been 0 if not for Bland holding unnecessarily. There is NO excuse for our offense to only get 7 points in one half at home. Especially when all they really have to do (if they aren't going to score a TD on a drive) is get the ball to the opposing 45 yardline. If they'd do that, the drive is at least ending with 3 points with Aubrey's leg. With how many stops the D gave us in the first half against the Bucs, we should at least have had 13-16 points at halftime. Even with Bland's hold, the approach would be very different, I'd imagine, in the second half of we're up 13-7.

I'm not mad at you. I'm frustrated because i really didn't enjoy the feeling of not looking forward to the 2024 and 2025 seasons because I was A. Livid with Jerry after how the game against the Packers went and B. The constant gaslighting from Jerry. So, I was entering those seasons knowing we were screwed, which made things less fun for me. This was the first season since maybe 2023 where I felt we should be winning the division. And it wasn't strictly on our talent alone so much as that the rest of our division looked weak enough to where that should be a reasonable bar. What I didn't account for was the team not wanting it badly enough. I knew the D would be a work in progress, but they actually did okay in the first half. Not good, but acceptable given they only conceded 7 that half. If our D is only conceding 7 in one half, our offense should be not only winning that game from that point on, but they should be running the other team out of the building with all the cap investment on that side of the ball.

Adopt a new team.

I have teams I pull for when they're not playing Dallas. But I have no intentions of ditching the Cowboys as my team. The other teams being the Broncos, Bears, and Browns (I live in Cleveland).

Same, I let myself get sucked in a little. Never happening again. I should know better.

Yup, I bought in for the first time in 3 years, and it's the offense that's let me down more than the defence imo.

I hope you learned your lesson

I hope all fans learned their lesson and just quit this team completely

I'm not planning on stopping being a Cowboys fan, but I do have other teams I pull for when they don't play Dallas.

So, if few things went right for the cowboys they win the game.
I don't think that's real "potential". I think that's more like hope, luck, and happenstance.
They can't win consistently with hope and luck.
I agree having things fall your way, or being "lucky", is part of any game.
.
Jimmy Johnson talked about being so well prepared and focus to:
Creating your own "luck"
Beating your man 1 on 1
Smashing a big gorilla with a 2x4.

Cowboys haven't done much of these last 30 years.

Honestly, this was the first season in 3 years where I felt actual hope starting to come back. And that's been bashed into the ground. I hated the feeling of not looking forward to a season. I genuinely don't know what to do. I'm a diehard fan. I genuinely love the Cowboys. But, at the same time, it's hard knowing that this team just doesn't have what it takes.
Planning, Culture, and Accountability make champions. We cannot have these ingredients with the Jones boys.

That’s interesting and hope springs eternal but once we traded Micah i figured we we’re screwed, unless ppl really bought into Jerry’s sales pitch.

Making overshown the Mike tanked my hopes on Parker.

Switching to a 3-4 defensive back led scheme when we a already had zero reliable linebackers left me scratching my head.

Plus you know with the structure of the team, as parcells said once he was gone it was going back to the circus (paraphrasing)

Hopefully I’m wrong, but our defense is actually worse than last year…Wild

I will probably take heat for saying this but I still think the Cowboys' issue is not personnel. There's enough pieces on defense for it to be a functional unit.

The issue is coaching.
