Donovan Ezeiruaku has been disappointing

He simply cannot finish. He also lacks bend, but that’s not the main issue, really. He’s getting to the QB and completely making the wrong decision within touching distance.

I agree with the comment above that I now have more hope for Lawrence, and that’s sad, because I loved the Eze pick and thought he did well enough last year. We just aren’t seeing improvement yet.

He did have that surgery in the OS, but I doubt that’s still impacting him.
why’s it sad to have higher hopes for a first round pick?

I have a feeling Eze will start getting sacks between this year and this time next year. He’s not quite there but he has shown enough flashes that tells me he will hit his stride. Probably given too big of a role too soon. He’s the guy that you develop for two or three years behind someone like Lawrence/Parsons and then he starts to take over.

On the flip side if his sack numbers aren’t at 5+ next season then I’d say it’s time to move on

They clearly don't understand techniques and how to finish. It's weird
We heard no end of praise for Marcus Dixon and BT Jordan in the offseason/preseason, but if they can’t teach their DL and edges to finish, they clearly aren’t all their made out to be.

I think he still has the potential to figure it out as a pass rusher, but he is a mega-liability as a run defender.

They wrongly evaluated another defensive linemen to add to all the previous misses.

Stand by for Lawrence to be more of the same.

Dont understand the hate this guy is getting. Hes been by far the best de this year imo
are you watching the games? EZ is terrible. no pass rushing moves except run up field or run straight into the tackle. he is too weak to collapse the pocket and not quick enough to get around the tackles. basically, QB and RBs have to run into him for him to make a play. he runs around with no purpose. he gets in the way of his teammates often

I mentioned last night, but I know it's early, but he's been pretty disappointing so far. Not like he doesn't have a chance to standout as most of our DL/LB are mostly jags.

Side note, but has any team had worse luck with 2nd round picks than Dallas? Going back to 2010 these were our picks

2010 Sean Lee
2011 Bruce Carter
2012 No pick
2013 Gavin Escobar
2014 DeMarcus Lawrence
2015 Randy Gregory
2016 Jaylon Smith
2017 Chidobe Awuzie
2018 Connor Williams
2019 Trysten Hill
2020 Trevon Diggs
2021 Kelvin Joseph
2022 Sam Williams
2023 Luke Schoonmaker
2024 Marshawn Kneeland
2025 Donovan Ezeiruaku

Lawrence is the only decent one
Was definitely hoping for more. BUT this is part of the problem with this front office IMO. It relies on improvement instead of planning for if it doesn't happen. I believe that unproven players should have to show they deserve playing time. I believe they should have to knock better players off the roster. But we don't get better players in free agency for them to knock off. I know you can't replace everyone, but you also can't just expect draft picks to come through for you. There are a whole lot more misses than hits.

Honestly, that's why I'd have no problem with us continuing to trade picks for proven players.
