The Big Christian Parker is over his head and needs fired thread *merged*

I've seen enough. There is nothing to this guy and his defense. I honestly don't think he has a clue what he's doing.

And that's an indictment of Shotty, who was enamored with CP because of his interview.

Does Jerry have the balls to cut bait this fast? No.

Quinnen has played in and been successful in the 3-4 before (he said in training camp that this is what they ran at Bama). Also, the 3-4/4-3 of today is NOT what it used to be. Dallas is in the nickel way more than anything else. And, even when Salah was his coach in NY, they 4-3 they used was very similar to Pete Carroll’s in Seattle where they ran a 4-3 with what many saw as 3-4 personnel (the LDE was around 290 and RDE was basically an OLB - Quinnen played basically the 3T/4T/5T).
Bruce Irvin. I remember him.

He’s young, he’s hip, and he’s chock full of buzzwords. It’s easy to see the appeal.

He probably spouted a bunch of things he learned from Vic Fangio during the interview. We all know Jerry said he likes to copy what’s working.

The whole board here besides myself practically lapped up all the Dallas’ media camp coverage of him.

i havent read this entire thread yet. this may have been discussed.

have we heard from this guy? does he take questions?

Yeah, the post about failed 2nd round picks from a couple weeks ago was covering like 20, 25 or 30 years worth of 2nd round draft busts.

The scouts, McClay, the coaches, Jerry and anybody else involved in Jerry's Cowboy think tank of acquiring players have all failed miserably in evaluating defensive players.

There's no denying it.
So it doesn't matter what coach or scheme these failures are led by.
That chosen DC ain't gonna be able to make chicken salad outta chicken ****.
And here we are.
AGAIN.
Yup. This is the end result of all Jerry-built teams.

And me!!!

Shoulda hired Brian Flores.

Btw, as we saw with Bowles, that AA gap defense works.

Too bad. Big Mike hated it and wouldn’t let Zim use it.

Tampa has a top 10 defense.

Christian “Kid Wonder” Parker has a lot to learn about the NFL.

No place for a rookie DC.

I’ll finish your absolutely correct statement by adding the obvious - because the same mostly low football IQ players will still be on the field. Am I the only 1 seeing the same 3 defenders- Quinnen, Barham, and Downs as the only consistent defenders around the action while everyone else looks like they’re stuck in quicksand?
No you aren't. Because while I've been preaching that each one of those guys represents a core piece at all 3 levels of the defense they don't have anyone else.
NO edges whatsoever on the roster.
Like you said Barham as the only linebacker and Downs in the secondary.
Linebacker room is almost as bad as the Edge room.
Did I mention corners?
You got Porter and that's it.
And he was sick.
I think he could be a good player BUT he needs a contract.
Go figure.

So to answer your question, you are not the only person who sees the defensive roster as extremely talent challenged.
Regardless of scheme or coach, they suck. And will continue to do so.

Bland wasn't terrible until Eberturd got here and play the bend but don't break zone. Same crap CP is doing. Bland is not a zone CB. put him in the slot and play man. CP hasn't shown any ability to adjust his defense and best use personnel

It was the exact same stupidity that let Baltimore complete that pass to get into game winning FG range. Cannot fix stupid.
my guess is CP doesn't know defense and schemes as much as he should. he probably bs'd his way through the interview and used some fancy words to convince Jerry and Schotty.

This is a talking point that doesn't mean what you think it does. The NCAA and NFL are different. We are not paying a guy rushing money to be a 3-4 anchor DE.

He isn't getting fired. Not after 5 games.

Find something else to complain about. There is plenty to choose from.
So just wait till they are 2-14 to fire him?
why wait ?
I would get rex ryan and try him for a year or 2 ,he said he could fix it and he knows defense.
I think he wanted more $ than the tightwad jones were willing to pay.
But he is available now right now if jerry wants to make a move and spend some money.
This whole giving people years to get better is a joke.

If you have a tire with a slow leak, some wait till it goes flat to change it, I prefer changing it before it goes flat.

also they dont have to fire CP just make him a asst coach with his DC pay.

I was impressed with what I "thought" were his impressive communication skills but still hesitant with what he was working with.

He may not be the communicator I originally thought now.

Didnt expect a big turnaround year one because its a building season for the defense but hasn't looked very good at all for the most part so far.
