Something nobody is talking about. do we win with Joey Porter

The losses are solely because of the defense and coaches.
Posted this earlier but going to put it here as well for the people who don't want to blame the offense...

We are 3rd in the NFL in offensive spending. We are 28th in defensive spending. We spend 70.8% more of our cap on offense than defense. $164.4 million vs. $96.2 million

The cap hit for Dak, Perkins, and Lamb combined this year is $91 million. That is $5 million less than we are spending on all 26 defensive players. Let that sink in. Our top 5 cap hits are all on offense. We spend more on them than the entire defense.

This team is built heavily on offense. Heavily. Quite simply, this offense can't go 3/4 of a game, heck, even half a game, producing nothing. We haven't been built for that in years.

Right now, the third-highest-paid offense in the league is right where it should be in scoring, 3rd and 8th in yards (not counting the Bucs game since other teams haven't played 5 yet).

The 28th highest-paid defense is 27th in points allowed and 28th in yards allowed.

The Cowboys have been, for years, spending a lion's share of space on the offense, pretty much ignoring talent on defense. This is the result. The team is getting exactly what is paying for. A defense with little talent, little spent to retain talent, and little spent to bring in talent. Does the defense suck? Heck yes. But they suck commensurate with the amount of resources we put into it.

We changed that a bit this offseason, but it's not just like a light switch. This needs to be a continued focus.

Hopefully we can get the run game going. We are going to need it because we spent 70% more of our resources on it. The team literally depends on it, and the offense can't seem to get it right. Dak, Perkins, and Lamb should be performing better too, considering we value them as much as we seem to value our entire defense this season (from a cap perspective).

Balls gonna get tipped in the air with Mayfield throwing too, so nice theory but again totally incorrect. Not that you're usually correct or I'd pay more attention to you, but I usually just glance past your name.
.......Oops, didn't mean to hit a nerve with my post said in humor.

Ive been told that things such as anger management courses and staying off social media can really help with issues like this.

Thoughts and prayers, sweetheart

Anger management? Far from it. Nor did you hit a nerve.

You're just wrong. Mayfield wasn't gonna change anything. He cannot survive a bad organization, and no way he's surviving another one like the Cowboys. He failed with the Browns and he's going backwards with the Bucs. Save that one year, hes the 17-20th ranked QB.

When Porter is on the field, blame still will be too. You pay him wayyyy too much to be CB4
Well, he’s being paid as CB3, so as long as he does that I guess he’s earning it.

Bland and Durant are both making more than him.

What about the offense that could only muster 16 points against an 0-4 defense?

I really wish people would stop putting the losses solely on the back of the defense. It wasn't the defense that had a 1st and goal from the 1 and failed to get the ball into the endzone
Tampa's defense ranks 2nd against the run. They are 6th in total yards allowed. 4th in INTs and 4th in total takeaways. They have a very good defense. Their problems have been on offense. How'd they look against the Dallas defense?

This game was lost by the defense. 3rd and 21 anyone? How about time of possession? almost 40 minutes to 20 for Dallas. You are trying to make this about Dak, but 3 turnovers were the difference in the game and none were his fault.

There’s no way the current Cowboys defensive personnel should be playing this bad. It’s more coaching than it is talent. IMHO

Love numbers. This really just drives home what I said in another thread about the erroneous mismanagement of this team.

The fact they spend 4/5 of the cap in offense.
They refuse to pick a QB in the 1st round.
They refuse to hire coaches with proven track records.
They refuse to pony up money for a good coach.
They don't allow their coaches to speak for their team first, and the fact that they have to speak at all after every game.

If this was a publicly ran company, Jones would have been replaced 25 years ago. It's insane to me that he doesn't have any awareness to any of this.

For the umpteenth time......I was just JOKING!!!

Reading is fundamental and "a mind is a terrible thing to waste"

I actually liked those commercials as much as Chief Halftown crying when people be littering.

Lighten up, Francine!

Blame = Bland, sorry auto correct. Meant that putting Porter on the field doesn’t take Bland off of it for the guy relieved the Bland nightmare is soon over

Bland gives up a 65 yard pass. Could've been the difference in a one possession game.

Porter was so great against the Texans.
They would still have played Bland 100% of snaps.

Hopefully they eventually move Bland to Nickel CB and let Revel or Speed play outside with Porter on the other side.

Bland was good more than one year. He was a solid rookie too.
He had the year where he set the record for pick 6s.

Hasnt been good or even close to that since.

And if we are being honest.

The one thing Ive noticed is since Micah was traded, this D has had the worst downward spiral in the NFL.

They cant rush the passer, cant INT the ball, cant force turnovers.

I know, I know, Micah sucked.

You cant ignore that this defense hasnt recovered from that trade, and they have brought in a lot of guys.

Explain to me how this D is this bad when 4 years ago they were a top 10 unit.

Quinn and Micah/DLaw are the only major losses.

So what is it?

I’m confused….are you saying they don’t miss Law and Micah and Quinn?

Of course they do. With those guys they just choked in big games and playoff games. They at least showed up against the bad teams so we of course miss that. But when yall reminiscence about them I just have to quickly remind you guys that all of them were there for the Packers debacle. You guys pretend they weren’t but they were there.

And no…that doesn’t mean Micah sucks I don’t know where ther comes from.

The Cowboys need to focus on improving the front 7. Prime in his prime is not going to produce in Dallas when opposing teams can run and pass at will against the Cowboys.

Hmm This doesn't smell right. You're part of the Anti-Dak Cult here but you don't blame him for the loses? Since you served, the dude refused to get on a knee and said there's better ways. The dude picked up trash. He loves being a Cowboys player who wears a real Cowboy hat. So tell me why you don't like him. The only reason NOT to like him is because of all his losses being one of the main players for our team.

Since we're a Marine (all branches, actually) family I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. If you don't blame him for the loses than I don't understand you being Anti-Dak then. Help a brother out here.
I detest greedy people who haven't earned what they demand. That's the reason why I'm anti-Dak.

I'm a firm believer in earning your pay, and Dak has been given 2 undeserved contracts that he hasn't come remotely close to earning. Individual stats wise, sure, he's done OK for himself, but that's the key part - he's only known for individual stats and hasn't done squat for the team. He definitely comes across as a 'me first' find of person, and that doesn't work in a team sport.

Maybe I will change my stance if he can step up and perform better in the playoffs. Or maybe if he goes to Jerry and demands a pay cut so that Jerry can build a better team around him. But we both know this won't happen.

Thanks for pointing out Dak's inability to perform good against better defenses

CP and Schotty would have figured out a way to screw it up.

No. If anything he’s just a stop gap.
Doubt he’ll have significant impact.
The cowboys and its fans are grasping at straws at this point.
Without a consistent pass rush, and Dline prone to being gashed, DBs are helpless.
