This was first season in 3 years I felt hope starting to come back

This is about what i was thinking before the season, but it has been shot down in flames ! old AC?DC song.
CP sucks And shotty just seems to be over his head.
I think he needed
CP to be good too, and now he is stuck with a guy he hired who is not what he seemed.

I havent totally given up yet,but things are looking bleak.

I am going to pick some other teams to root for that know what they are doing.
And at same time follow Dallas and just not expect anything from them.

Yeah, Dallas will always be my team, but I also like Denver, Chicago, and Detroit. Also, I don't hate the Steelers nearly as much as most Cowboys fans, in part because I've always had a good time in Pittsburgh. I don't like the Steelers, but I do have a lot of respect for Yinzers.

I’m a half-full person and always hope. But like you, I had optimism my hope was likely to be rewarded this year. I saw a different front office approach. Unfortunately, that change in approach hasn’t produced fruit thus far.

I am still hopeful things will turn around. But I have zero faith Shotty can do it. I’ve been neutral on him since his hire, but not now. I don’t expect him to be fired in-season (unless they go on a Wade Phillips situation), but they need to move on after this season. No reason to delay the inevitable.

Same here. I try to be half-full and optimistic too.

Honestly, this was the first season in 3 years where I felt actual hope starting to come back. And that's been bashed into the ground. I hated the feeling of not looking forward to a season. I hated the feeling that we had no shot. And this offseason actually gave me hope. We actually seemed to be doing things a better way. But no. Nothing changes. Just spirals down the toilet.

I genuinely don't know what to do. I'm a diehard fan. I genuinely love the Cowboys. But, at the same time, it's hard knowing that this team just doesn't have what it takes.
It sucks to read these types of posts. I genuinely like a lot of you guys. I enjoy your posts. I enjoy reading difference in opinions and having discourse.

What I don't understand is the continued ignorance of how this team is ran.

Let's put aside our differences on Dak.

This team is not a healthy sound ran organization. You see it every year on the choices made by the GM.

They aren't long term planners.
They go for the bottom of the barrel coaches.
They go for late round QBs.
They foster a culture of weak minded privileged players.
They never handle contracts well.
They are always on the losing side of negotiations.
They rarely draft well.
They are often late to adapt to strategies used around the league.
They hang onto players wayyyy to long.
Every player knows, you get in good with Jerry and you are untouchable.

Who owns the 49ers? Who owns the ram who owns the Seahawks?

I know a few owners like the giants, patriots, eagles, chiefs, but it's because of the successes they have had. Other than that, I don't hear anything from them.

Why does Jerry and his family dominate the Cowboys culture? It's poison, it's been 30 years of poison.

None of this other stuff matters. Dak sucks, Dak is top 5, Ferguson dropped passes, bland didn't get an interception, our DC sucks.

Nope, it's the core, it's rotten and until that's fixed, we won't see results on the field.

I just hope more fans on this board and elsewhere start to realize this and stop supporting the cowboys.

I mean, I watch and cheer on the team, but I couldn't go to games if I wanted to, and the most recent jersey I got was from eBay, and Walmart before that

Well Rusty, I appreciate you, I like reading your posts. I would gladly buy you tickets to a game if you ever wanted it. I want fans like you to be happy. I miss miss being happy watching the Cowboys. It hasn't happened for me since Romo and whitten. And before that growing up watching aikman and Emmitte as a teenager.

I hope that one day this all turns around. As much as I don't like Dak, And heavily critical of the organization, I would trade it all to be wrong and for them to win this year.

Just not sure that's going to happen with the way they run things.

So, if few things went right for the cowboys they win the game.
I don't think that's real "potential". I think that's more like hope, luck, and happenstance.
They can't win consistently with hope and luck.
I agree having things fall your way, or being "lucky", is part of any game.
.
Jimmy Johnson talked about being so well prepared and focus to:
Creating your own "luck"
Beating your man 1 on 1
Smashing a big gorilla with a 2x4.

Cowboys haven't done much of these last 30 years.

Which I agree with, but I mean, come on. How many times did we connect on the deep ball last year? How many times have we attempted it this year? We actually had been successful last year with the deep ball. If Dak isn't doing his stupid jump pass, he should have hit Lamb at the 10 for a walk in TD to go up 14-7. It's not just creating luck. It's lack of execution. The plays are there to be made. They're just not making them. And that's inexcusable at home, especially at night when the sun isn't in their eyes.

I like Dak, and I liked Romo. It's just, it's clear that the players don't want it enough. The plays are there to be made. They're just not executing. If Dak hits Lamb wide open like he should have on that jump pass near pick, that's 14-7. If he hits Flournoy on the 2 PT and Bland catches the pick for what was ironically his easiest pick 6 yet, we win the game. We hold the Bucs to 0 in the first half if Bland just doesn't hold on the first drive. I know it's a lot of ifs, but it's why I push back partly against the coaching argument. Yes, the coaching could be there, but the players have to execute when the plays are there to be made. The coaches can only do so much if the players aren't going to execute.

Rusty the only solution is to put your fandom in perspective and find other things to do. A few years ago I realized Jerry killed the team I love through neglect, stupidity, incompetence , greed - take your pick. Hopefully the team resurrects some day. But until then I see this clown show for what it is and I just don't care that much.

Yeah, I mean, they'll still be my team, but yeah, it's been frustrating. My bar was literally just asking them to win a bad division this year lol. That's a low bar lol.

After 30 years, my expectation are literally shot, so none of this surprises me. However I really felt that we would see significant improvement with some light at the tunnel. Sadly not meant to be....again. Losing doesn't hurt as much if they put up their best and get beat by the better team. That's not the case.

Fans should start to stage walkouts, leave the stadium empty in the second half. Now THAT would be embarrassing to the Jones. Well earned too.

That would be, unfortunately, Jerry gets paid. And if Cowboys fans don't show up, other fans show up because of the stadium. Jerry gets paid.

I wasn't around in his early coaching days, but during the decline of the team in the late 80s, there was plenty of talk on AM radio even if there was no Internet. Night after night people called in saying Landry should be fired.
Pretty certain that was the locals thoughts but it was local not national. The the ten year contract was given and the naysayers probably went mad over it but again local. Tom made good and the Cowboys went on to success.
