Barry Switzer has a long-standing wish he wants Jerry to fulfill before he dies

I distinctly remember feeling like I was watching the death of a loved one as that game went on. It was obvious the run was over and it was going to be a real dogfight to get out of there with a win.

O'Donnell to the rescue! He gave away the game and made Larry Brown a rich man.
Every time I hear of Deron Blands "magical year" thoughts of Larry Brown come to mind.

I only wish that I could give credit to Al Harris for Larry too.

I just did not enjoy it one bit. You knew the team was crumbling, we barely made it there, and they are kicking our *** and we're going to need some luck to win. That's what I thought. That Super Bowl win ended up doing so much damage too.

Yea I knew it was the end. I still think the 94 team was the better team. I think if Jimmy was still there, we 3-peat. Back to 95, I just never dreamed that 31 years later we wouldn't have been back.
The 94 team was 50% better than the 95 team. We had lost pieces in 94 like Ken norton, gogan, Jimmy Jones but we still had he majority of Jimmy's players. In 95 we lost Harper which was devastating and a few more pieces and it just wasn't the same team at all. Erik Williams was maybe 50% of what he was in 94. We were running on fumes.

Don't forget about the coaching and lack of discipline either. We could overcome it in 94 a lot better than a 95. The coaching staff in 94 was also a lot better.

4th and 1 against the eagles in our own territory.......twice! Should be enough to keep him out of the ROH......the man was a joke.
Switzer was ahead of his time. Today’s analytics probably say he was right.

Barry Switzer has a long-standing wish that he wants Jerry Jones to fulfill before he dies.

“When Jerry puts my a– in the ring of honor someday before I die,” Barry Switzer said on 96.7 The Ticket. “You listening, Jerry? And I’m 89 years old, and I’m going to have Charles Haley put me in. Because Charles Haley, after I was gone, Charles Haley called me and asked me to put him in the ring of honor when I was already out of the way from the Cowboys.”

Tom Landry, Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer remain the only coaches to have brought Super Bowl victories for the Cowboys. However, Switzer is the only one among them not on the Ring of Honor. Landry was inducted in 1993, while Johnson was inducted in 2023.

Now, it will be interesting to see if Barry Switzer finally receives the recognition he is asking for.

is switzer just as senile and jerry jones is to think that he deserves to be in the dallas cowboys ring of honor. he was the start of the downfall of this team the last thirty years. he started the attitude that the players think now that they could just show up and think that they deserve to win.

Err, no

He is looking more and more legendary with all the lean years since.

I don't think he had a lot to do with that SB win. I think that was mostly Aikman and the coordinators.
I don't take credit away from a coach who won a Super Bowl. Even if his main job was to get out of the way and let the team do what it had been coached to do. Barry won a national championship in college and a Super Bowl in the NFL. It takes a good coach to do that.

Would he have been able to do it in the NFL if Jimmy hadn't built the team? The evidence we have since then says no, because Jerry would have been building the team.

I really like Switcher but he put Jones in a pinch with that gun/suitcase/airport stinkaroo.

I hate Switzer so much, I think it would be the last straw for me if Jerry did that

He lost in his first year, when all the right pieces were there. I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing the second year is when Troy decided to start being the hard *** in practice, since Switzer refused to be.

Whatever the case, winning one SB with that team doesn't earn a place in the RoH.
