This defense has zero pass rush

Absolutely nothing on the outside or the inside. In the 90s we got amazing push up the middle and had good rushers on the outside. We get zero push up the middle even with Williams who is slowly becoming a bust of a trade. His decline in 2 years is wild. The very few times we've gotten anything from the outside has been from Ezeraku and the guy just can't finish a qb to save his life. He had one completely squared up the other night, LT woulda killed the QB, and EZ completely whiffed. It almost looked physically impossible for him to not get the QB but some how he got brushed off. I've been saying it for years we need BIG Leon Lett, David Irving type pressure up the middle. That however was while Micah was here and sadly now we have nothing but a bunch of JAGS.

Eze is soft and can't finish the few times he sniffs around the QB
Malaki looks like a big MEH.....showed a little bit but not anything special
Gary is washed and can't move
Houston and Wheat are high effort JAGS
Williams like I said is on a huge decline only 2.5 sacks last season and his hits and pressures are way down
Clark is washed and gives nothing in rush or run game
Otito has played well but is nothing more than a rotation max effort guy.
Overton doesn't offer much either way

Caleb Banks woulda been a perfect fit for this team and we look like we sadly whiffed on our 2 first round picks cause Downs hasn't offered much either. Had this been a top 10 defense and Downs was added I could envision him having a greater impact and playing more freely and aggressively, but on this bottom feeder he isn't allowed to do what he's capable of.

Malachi Lawrence looks better than Ezeiruaku did as a rookie. I think he has potential. Remember, he is a rookie.

The problem with the Cowboys defense is, offenses can take out the Cowboys ends with TEs, or at least with one on one blocks. Williams and the other tackle just get double teamed. This iw hat Parsons did for Dallas. He commanded two or three blockers leaving everyone else with a single man to beat. The problem was the Cowboys DTs were awful and didn't need to be double teamed. The right move for Dallas was to keep Parsons AND acquire a DT like Quinnen Willliams. That is how you win championships.

They need at least a decent pass rusher to cause problems for offenses so they can't just double up Williams, and if they do, there is still a pass rush from the outside. Watching Ezeiruaku get swallowed up every week by OTs is nauseating.

Well them throwing the worst pass rusher in the nfl out there continously isnt gonna help. I hate seeing #7 take the field. Dude is so trash and such a waste, its infuriating. Our dumb coach is ginna wait till its too late in the year to actually activate Houston.

You can’t expect your DTs to be your every down pass rushing threats. Q gets a lot of penetration but your ends have to contain and make plays too.

It's hard to fathom how they jettison nearly their entire starting defense, bring in a new coordinator and scheme to see worse results 5 weeks in. It seems almost impossible lol.

I do think there is something to building a piece meal staff and the lack of cohesion on how the individual units play together. A lot starts with the head coach that mostly runs a good offense, but seems to have no clue about the defensive side and assumes the other coaches got it. Then who knows what's going on in the defensive meetings and individual positional meetings.

If this staff doesn't make it into next season I would expect the Cowboys to hire a defensive head coach and assume they lean towards one with more experience.
