5 Coaches Who Could Take the Cowboys to the Next Level

Jerry will never hire a good coach because no good coach will take the job with limited say, Jerry’s ego will never allow him to let a real coach take this team.

I thought the Cowboys should of hired Bill Belichick instead of shotty but a lot of folks her were dead set against it.
Imo, Belichick definitely would have helped the defense. He would have only been here long enough to break Don Shulas record. Plus, Jerry and him are friends.
It really was a good fit for both parties imo.

This is completely another discussion, but not Bill Belichick.

In both Cleveland and New England, he simply did not win without Tom Brady. 36-44 in Cleveland and 29-38 without Brady with the Pats.

Jerry is going to go out and hire another retread like McCarthy. Doug Pedersen is available one last paycheck from the NFL is about all the Cowboys are worth.
Jerry turned over a new leaf, hired a young and "fresh" innovative mind, and with these results Jerry is certainly wanting to do it again...

No head coach who has ever won a Super bowl for one team has ever replicated the same for another team . No Ex Super Bowl winning coaches for me thank you. Besides,.......Im not out on Shotty yet,....still in his corner. Now CP? I want him gone asap. With all the time money and resources thrown at the defense there is no way on Earth our D should be anywhere close to THIS BAD. He's got to go.
All the money thrown at the defense? Seriously. Our defensive spending is 28th in the NFL. Our offensive spending is 3rd at $163 million

Cap hits for Dak, Perkins, and CD this year are $91 million; the cap hits combined for all 26 defensive players are $96 million.

We are 27th in points allowed and 28th in yards allowed for our 28th in spending. We are getting exactly what we are paying for with the defense.

CP though? Yeah, he needs to show or go; at this point, go.

Keep in mind:
Brian Schottenheimer $4.5 mil per year 4 years
Kirby Smart: $13 mil per year 10 years

Most of these guys have little to no NFL experience (besides Bill and Saban ofc) and little to no incentive to leave their current job. There is zero good reason why Kirby/Lanning/Freeman would quit their current job on their own accords. Especially for the Cowboys job which everyone knows is a pain in the rear end. At those schools, they are kings of their castles. In Dallas, the Jones family is, period.

Belichick almost certainly plays out his days as a coach at UNC and I’m not even sure if he’d be able to come in and get across to these guys at his current age. He seems better suited for coaching college kids at this point. Saban probably has zero desire to coach again and nothing has led anyone to believe he has the NFL figured out if he even did. He has not had success at that level.
Money should be NO OBJECT! This club is worth BILLIONS, so paying off a lame duck HC should be no big deal!

^ this.

Whether one believes in Rayne Dakota or not, I think its obvious that he can continue to run this offense whether or not he has an ex-DC as a HC.

Before their defense went to crap Demeco Ryan's installed a really good defense but without an experienced successful offense the team met its limitations.

Brian Flores for the next HC here......he's psycho and that fits right in my wheelhouse

Straight up the man doesn't suffer fools or soft players
He’s an amazing coordinator, but I hear a lot of bad about him as head coach….people can’t work with him, a little TOO rough maybe. We could use a stern hand, but maybe he was too much back them? I’d give it a try though for sure.

1. Kirby Smart
2. Dan Lanning
3. Marcus Freeman
4. Bill Belichick
5. Nick Saban

What a horrible list. This guy gets paid for this.

Flores will never be an NFL head coach.

The NFL will settle the class action suit because they are undoubtedly guilty of most of the allegations and they can’t ever let their emails and internal documents see the light of day.

He’ll get all the millions he’s lost from being blackballed and continue to be the best DC in the league as long as he wants to do it.

My brother wants a hardnosed coach. In the modern era I don't think that works anymore. Ditka (RIP) grabbed a kid by the facemask and yanked him off the field; Mike Singletary got in a kids face after a bad play and sent him to the locker-room while the game was still being played. I don't think you can do that anymore for many reasons. One, the player will punch them in the face in they did that and two, I think players union will get the coach suspended or something like that. The players are part of society, so they are no different from the kids who talked back and challenge teachers' authority.

You and I are about the same age, since I/you played sports, our coaches would whip our *** if we talked back to the teachers or got a failing grade. Now they get fired if they did that.

I have 4 teachers in my family, 1 is a teacher for the poorest district here in SA and the other is a teacher at an alternative school. The stories I hear makes me sad and I think it's the reason why good teachers get burned out and quit. It's the teachers with the "I don't give an F" attitude who is only in it for the money that last, but they don't make good "teachers."

What's your take on getting a mean, disciplinarian type of coach? Will it work in this modern era, or do you have to be a "Players" coach?
Those coaches still exist, but they have to play mind games. Some players need to be ripped and others shut it down, if they are. Jimmy had a psychology degree, that helped him tremendously. If you can't play those mind games, you better win and win fast.

They should have gotten Mike Vrabel, but Jerry and his buckethead son were scared of him.
Vrabel interviewed with the Jets but it was only part of his negotiations with Kraft.

That hire was a done deal from the day Mayo was fired.

Vrabel is in the Patriots Hall of Fame and would have been hired when he went to Tennessee except Belichick was still there.
