Re-watched the Tampa Game-thoughts/opinions

I’d like to add something I noticed and I don’t know if this is happening to other teams but there seems to be a lack of effort tacking, it’s like they’re just going through the motions to get the guy down instead of trying to punch the ball out or stick their heads in there.

The defense looks mentally beaten and it’s manifesting itself with the effort.

Relax SteveTheCowboy.......I thought I'm entitled to opinion like you. Am I missing something?
I'm pretty relaxed....some anxiety about needing to go out and mow my overgrown Florida yard. UGH!

Yes...of course you are! I'm encouraging you to express it!

When you’re getting blitzed every play and those blitzes aren’t being picked up it tends to make QB’s a little off.
How much longer before you start the annual Dak sux hiatus? The OL actually did a decent job of picking up most of the blitzes. Dak got sped up and his poor footwork and mental midgetry reappeared. Which caused worm burners and bad throws to escalate. FACTS

How long before you stop telling lies? some Deacon you are hypocrite.

 For just purposely putting yourself through that torture again….i couldn’t do it.

Offense

-Something was off with Dak. His accuracy was all over the place, majority of his throws were high. He usually feasts when teams blitz them, but struggled throughout the night. Footwork was also terrible.
-Tampa corners were sitting on the underneath routes, dared the Cowboys to beat them over the top.
-Both interceptions were on fastballs where it bounced off both Ferguson and Flournoy.
-Run game struggled throughout the game.
-Schott's decision to go for 2, made zero sense. You also play for the tie at home.

Defense

-Outside of 1st drive, thought the defense is the 1st half wasn't bad. That 1st drive they could of gotten off the field multiple times, several penalties kept the drive going.
-2nd Half the wheels came off and that snowball affect started where they couldn't stop the momentum. 1st the long run to start the half was poor tackling, they should of stopped the run early on. The huge pass on the next drive was due to Bland falling, he is healthy? This is unacceptable. Then you have the Turpin fumble.
-Giving up that 3rd and 20 plus was a back breaker. We have seen CP play soft zone in the same situation with the same results. However, when they do blitz, they never hit home.
-Downs is a far better player inside the box then as a roof safety. Unfortunately they are mash unit at the safety position.
-I see a defense that is very finesse, struggle to take on blocks, pass rushers look like they quit after they get stopped after the 1st move, tackling in space is a problem. Just not a physical team, which has to be addressed at some point
-The outside runs have been an issue for this defense for years, inconsistent of setting an edge.
-I do think some players started to quit as the game got out of hand.

Couple of my opinions-something isn't right with Bland, is it confidence/injury? He looks like Diggs from last season. Think they need another physical linebacker next to Barham. Downs needs to play inside the box as that is where his strength is. Front office is going to have to get help for this pass rush, outside of Lawrence who flashes.
Mostly I agree with your write up. Did that hand injury of Dak become a factor along with 3 game 11 day death march. Disclaimer you don't make excuses you play what's they point to.

I have to admit, I didn't have a problem going for 2 there. You had an offense rolling at clutch time and was unexpected by the Bucs. Yes, it didn't work out, but I liked the decision. And Dak had his man open, just threw it too late. It was there and if successful everyone would be praising the out-of-the-box decision by Schotty.
The 2 INTs bouncing off our helmets and the INT dropped by Bland confirmed it was not our night and we'd need to do something extra to overcome those unusual happenings. Trying to do something extra just didn't work.

All good.....I have fall aerating on the list before overseeding in the DMV (Commander country). Just a personal preference to responding to threads over creating them. May have a few in the archives and early on. And my comments are never intended to be personal to any fellow-poster.

The Boys are due to make up for their pathetic performance vs. Tampa! Will they? Good question!

There's a pretty good chance it'd be difficult to find many Cowboys fans that feel confident in them!

With respect to Bland, I posted below and believe it is the problem with Bland.

With respect to everything else that went wrong on Thursday, from my opinion it was a combination of mental and physical fatigue, coupled with lack of preparation and overconfidence that they could come out and turn it on whenever they want to against an inferior team. They seem to always approach these games against inferior opponents as if they are a varsity team going against a JV team or top 25 ranked team going against a Div II team. Forgetting this is an NFL team and the margins between the worst team and the best is not that far removed (in the case of the Bucs, all of their losses were by 8pts or less).

One of the many downfalls of this team is believing every player who comes back from a major injury, will always revert back to their capabilities prior to their injury. What they fail to recognize is that the majority do not and when it doesn't happen they take, we'll give it one more year removed to return to your previous form, then two years, then three years. Then they finally realize they will never return and by that time, you wasted 4 years at that particular position. We've seen it time and time again, whether it's their own players, draft picks, or high draft picks they pickup through FA. It gets worst when said player has a single breakout year before their next contract and we overpay on potential and not production.

The coach needs to counter with quick slants behind the blitz, and make them pay. We kept trying to have those long developing down field plays.
Shotty calling the plays unless Dak is checking out to plan B. Seems like with a 10 plus year starting QB this wouldn't be that hard to fix? What am I missing?

Honestly yes dak is to blame for those picks

The reason is he can’t throw receivers open

Usually they are given a couple ofnplays, it gets called un huddle.
Upon line up, read defense and everyone including WRs adjust and hopefully see the same thing.

You dont call a whole new route combination at LOS.

And some responsibility is with QB for sure, but the coach has to make adjustments in play calling.

Otherwise all 10+ year veteran QBs just call their own plays and no need for OC

Dak did have a bad game ,but he is not the only one. This was a total debacle coach on down
