Opinion: Give Mr Parker a chance

After all the BS that was spread about him being the savior of the defense and anointing him as an instant HC candidate, all before he had even coached his first game as a DC, I think he should be shown the door.

He's nothing more than yet another project guy who is learning on the job. A typical Jerry hire.
Brian hired him

The needle hasn't moved from last year's rock-bottom defensive unit, despite what were touted as substantial personnel upgrades.

I fear we're looking at yet another in an almost unprecedented string of unfortunate hires by Jerry...who, after all these years, apparently holds fast to his "any one of 500 coaches" philosophy.

Romo and Dak were/are very good quarterbacks. The odds on replacing them with someone better are very low. We would likely go through 5-10+ QB’s who are worse before we land someone better. Even with a #1 pick you aren’t guaranteed anything. Do you really think Cam Ward or Fernando Mendoza would set the world on fire and be better than Dak anytime soon? Probably not. I would love Drew Mestemaker but he could easily climb up to #1 pick and become untouchable. So it’s not like it’d even be an option at that point.

I’d give Parker to the end of the season to show signs of improvement. If he can do that then he gets next year to show that the defense is legit good. If it doesn’t get any better throughout the season this year though I’d probably just let him walk after the season and count my losses. We still haven’t seen his defense with everyone healthy and Porter/Speed/Durant/Thompson/Downs as the full secondary. Obviously he has been a massive disappointment so far but at some point if there is zero continuity in the coaching staff and philosophy then players will quit buying in.

I think the front office needs to do a much better job at finding guys who can play his scheme or he needs to do a better job at changing his scheme to fit the players.
“Romo and Dak were/are very good QBs.” I can’t get past this because your definition of “very good” and mine are completely different. You’re NEVER gonna get a franchise QB if you NEVER try. This FO has proven they are clueless about what it takes to build a championship team.

Shirley you folks didn't start a new position and set the world on fire first few weeks.

Good lawd

Go Cowboys!
So far, he has had 5 chances given we are entering week six. I predicted the defense would struggle this season with all the new players, new coach, new schemes, but we aren't really seeing any real improvement. That is a VERY bad sign that you aren't improving at all over a five game stretch given the current situation.

They've given up 136 points over 5 games. That's 27.2 points per game.

The "high powered" Cowboys offense has scored just 2 points more (138 points) than the defense has given up! So this defense is playing like it's playing against the Cowboys offense every game, except they aren't!

I agree everyone's overreacting add in all the injuries you got a new player in JPJ that hasn't played yet but 25 snaps got sick the next game guys are in and out you're playing playing practice squad guys you are new you need some time and what did I just read what is this mike Pettini just added to this defensive staff?

Yes I just read something I don't know if it's real but why was Mike Pettini added? And at what capacity Is there some part of the defense that could use some help a consultant Is this the addition some of y'all were crying for not you i'm it's just anybody reading this?

Allow it? We can debate it, argue it, ignore it but allow it? Are you a right little communist?
Like I said, if you’re ok with people calling others an idiot, which they have the right, then don’t get mad when someone points it out to you.

Maybe you should try reaching in bag with players like Reddy Steward in it.

Fangio couldn’t make players who don’t belong on the League work.
Oh I see. Reddy is the reason bucky Irving ran for 178 yards and the team had 241 total rushing yards. Dang and here I thought he was a corner.

Go back and read. You were the guy that got mad. Now go eat a Snickers.

I've been saying it since the off-season.

I'm gonna trust that they know what they're doing. But I've also repeatedly said that the offense would have to score 30+ to win probably

It's only been 5 (awful) games defensively

I'll see where we are by thanksgiving.

"Give the coach time." WE ARE 30 YEARS PAST THIS. DAL is not a continuational institute of study. Coaches should know what they are doing at this stage.

It seems to me like your definition of very good = playoff wins and Super Bowl rings. Outside of that, both of them are elite QB’s and the #’s show it. I do have a different definition of very good bc playoff wins and championships are a team stats not a QB stat.
