How important to Cowboys avoiding 2-4?

Losing to Tampa and winning at the Packers used to be so us, but I don't see it now. We are just plain bad. Don't see us winning in Green Bay or Philthy.
If the offense is clicking we can win those games, although it will be tough. If the offense plays like it did against Tampa, the results will be the same. I shudder at having to play the 49ers and Rams, It's going to be rough. Dak doesn't fair well against those teams.

I certainly don’t have any confidence heading to Green Bay after our loss at home to Tampa.

Our division appears to certainly be getable this year but falling to 2-4 the pressure will continue to grow.

So how big is this game Sunday night ?
If we're a bad team, what difference does it make how bad the rest of the division is? I don't get any joy from making the playoffs with 00.1% chance at winning a championship. Playoffs are nothing to celebrate anymore since over 40% of the league gets in.

Getting to the dance is still better than being left at home .

As long as Jethro is at the helm we have almost zero chance of winning a championship regardless.

Big picture, it's probably not important because this team isn't winning the Super Bowl. And that is all I care about.

If winning the division is important, I guess it's important.

Unfortunately winning a championship hadn’t been in the cards for decades .

Cowboy fans don’t have much else to root for except when Jethro will be 6 feet under.

I just hope for at least 17 meaningful games. Other than that its painful watching.

In that case, what are we really cheering for than? Knowing you aren't going to win a championship makes even the WINS matter less for me.

I just mean, if you win a division of 4 bad teams, you're still a bad team. Bad teams don't win championships no matter who is GM.

Slightly off topic, but even asking the question highlights the two fundamental problems the NFL has in expanding outside the US, when soccer is the global sport.

1. 17 games isn’t enough. You can’t increase the number without killing (possibly literally) the players because of the physical impact, but knowing you’re season is pretty much done and dusted after 5 or 6 games isn’t going to attract a global audience used to 40 games or more. Nothing you can do about that.

2. No relegation means there’s virtually no jeopardy for teams once they know they aren’t getting to the playoffs. Playing for pride after week 5 or 6 is pretty poor stuff. There would be riots on the streets anyone tried it but maybe a fundamental restructure with 3 divisions with promotion and relegation between them would be good for the sport. If the difference between 4-13 and 5-12 is staying in the top division and fighting for a championship the following year - that game really is important.

Don’t take this as meaning I don’t like the NFL, I love it, genuinely. But that doesn’t mean you couldn’t make it better, especially to find a way to avoid tanking teams losing for draft position.

The division is weak. If we didn't lose to the Giants, I'd say a must win to even stay remain in the conversation. At this point, this season is a wash. It sucks that it happened in week 5. For Shotty, a must, if there aren't improvements, Shotty is a mid season fire.

There are six degrees of separation for NFL teams:

Super Bowl-caliber team
------------------------------------------
Strong playoff-contending team
------------------------------------------
Weak playoff-contending team
------------------------------------------
Barely plus .500 team
------------------------------------------
.500 team
------------------------------------------
Sub .500 team
------------------------------------------
1st overall draft pick team

How important to Cowboys avoiding 2-4?

Answer: As of today, the importance is either inching forward towards .500 football or falling back towards handing in the first card during next April's draft. The entire team, including its infamous 84-year-old mouthpiece, should not even whisper about any other aspirations until it can achieve that much.

They dont

Love is going to be out there with his buttcheeks out wobbling around the field throwing absolute missles

Breaking news: THEY WILL WIN THIS GAME, but you'll question yourself like where was this team a week ago as we lost a game we shouldn't have!!
I hope you are right but... I don't know there just hasn't been a lot to get excited about so far and GB always seems to play us tough.

I can't help but feel like they go in and win this Sunday night. Go in and win over a good Green Bay team after they rolled over to a winless Tampa team. It's just what the Cowboys do. They're great at giving us the rollercoaster rides of the majors highs and the major lows. lol
