I remember people being optimistic about CP but I mostly remember people wanting us to wait for Leonard. A lot of people didn’t like CPI have nothing more than a rudimentary awareness of Leonard. I don't recall saying anything but I'm sure if I did it wasn't anywhere near the level of praise that was being given to CP.
I was thinking it was like when we brought Bob Mcadoo in.This feels like a Monte Kiffin moment. Jerry forgot he’s played this card before and it didn’t work.
Long-time NFL coach Mike Pettine is joining the Cowboys defensive staff, reuniting with coordinator Christian Parker. As the Packers defensive coordinator form 2018-20, Pettine gave Parker his first job in the NFL in 2019. When hired, Parker attempted to talk Pettine out of retirement. Now six weeks into the season, Parker has a veteran coach as a sounding board.
Actually he's in the same role he'll have here But don't you think he learned something you are weird you think that all that time he worked under Rex Ryan and others it wasn't just Rex Ryan he also had a large role with the Packers that's where he met Parker you might want to look at his resume closer He still was in the same capacity or higher he also was a head coach and his defense is at the time he was a head coach we're pretty good with the Browns I believe doesn't mean he was a good head coach but it means his defenses were always pretty good with the Browns..A caveat here is that Pettine was defensive coordinator with the Jets only in name, and he had his most success there because the defense was actually ran by the head coach, Rex Ryan. The success of the Jets got Pettine his next job with the Bills, and the results were middling. He then had a bad head coaching stint with the Browns before returning as a middling DC with the Packers.
The numbers his defenses have had when he's been the coordinator (without Rex Ryan) don't put him in the same class with Flores. I like doing something here, and am OK with the hire, but it's not like we hired someone who used to regularly produce No. 1 defenses. The only time he did that was with the Jets, and it was Ryan's defense. Pettine was just his righthand man.
He's not a senior advisor he's senior defensive assistant he's basically going to be Parker's right hand man A guy to help bridge the gap to get this 34 communicated to the team it is not a consultant job it is not an advisor it is simply help Apparently they're gonna be on game day Mike is gonna possibly be on the sideline and I heard Parker's gonna try it from the booth and now he has someone down there he can trust That's it It's communication thing an extra pair of eyes..I don't think this is about his tenure in the NFL (which started in 2019), so your question is moot.
I'm suggesting it's about the male ego. He's the DC. A demotion won't set well with him. So, the approach the Cowboys are taking is giving Parker a "senior advisor". That gives CP help and protects his ego.
We'll see how long this lasts, but it signals the front office has identified a problem with the defensive coaching leadership.
Williams looking like he'd be a great guy to have cheese burgers with.Along with anybody else on the defensive line. I challenge someone to name a Dawg other than Barham. My Boy from Ohio State he's even moved toward the softer end since joining Dallas-Down. I don't know what they putting in the food. But we need more T-rexes out there. We already have a Lamb. I almost forgot Porter. But we shall see about him.Well...I guess we will see what happens...personally have never been a fan of switching coaches mid season. Let's be honest...because this is what this is...a coaching change....and hopefully a scheme change. Parker was hell bent on stopping the run with 6 guys...and that was a bad concept from the minute I heard it...Had a feeling this was gonna blow up in our faces. Now let's see if we actually get aggressive for once....blitz...play man under...with some cover 2 help over the top. I wanna see CBs start jumping some routes...instead of sitting back and letting backs and WRs catch the footballExcellent. I don't know if it will help, but at least they're trying.
According to AI results (never know what you're going to get), Pettine's specialty is exactly what we need (pressure)
Mike Pettine's specialty as a defensive coordinator centers on a 3-4 defensive system built around aggressive blitzing, press-man coverage, and foundational roots from the Rex Ryan/Baltimore Ravens defensive coaching tree
I’m willing to give him a chance.Pettine is not going to make a difference, he stinks
They got worse. We said it couldn’t get any worse before the season started. How did that turn out?
No.
Again Parker wanted Petine to join staff when he was hired. Petine opted to stay retired. Todd archer reported then that Petine had an open invitation.
Im not sure why a young first time DC struggling seeking help is viewed as a bad thing.
Cowboys have not lost three in a row yetThree straight losses, huh? That’s tough.
/hangs head I also thought that Matt Eberflus would be great. Thanks for the honesty.

Hard to evaluate Ebers influence since he’s not calling plays./hangs head I also thought that Matt Eberflus would be great.
He seems to be doing OK with the 49ers, so maybe it's just the Cowboys team itself that is the problem. Draft stupid players, or slow ones, or good ones and then make them change positions....
He builds a great roster that anyone can coach these guys to success.Jerry will do anything to avoid bad optics or paying average pay for good coaches. He would hire 50 coaches for 100k a year before he hired a head coach for 15 million a year
