Because it's a thing we all choose to do for fun and entertainment. I don't see how you can ever call fans unrealistic or delusional or whatever you're implying and act like the team losing will do anything to change the Jones' or the culture, and that fans should push for that to boot. The Cowboys are the most valuable sports franchise in the world after losing for 30 years straight, both with relevant and irrelevant rosters. And you think losing will somehow change this culture? The only thing that will maybe change this culture is Stephen actually making a Ben Johnson or Joe Brady type hire for once and backing way off after Jerry passes. Maybe his kids currently just go along with Dad and will step back when he's gone. Or maybe they like being involved and will continue the trend. Who knows. But Jerry going away is the only way these big cultural and process changes happen. This board of actual fans who follow the game and know the backup players names is a microcosm of a microcosm of the poeple who fill up ATT Stadium on Sundays.
As for now? This isn't the 2003 Cowboys roster. They have what should be a top 3 offense. They should have beaten Baltimore and unlike last year actually have some talent on defense. They have to get Bland off the field and get some healthy players back and so strictly based on football I do think it's possible to field a roster competitive enough to get hot at the right time and contend, and even beat San Francisco. Especially in a weak NFC east and weak NFC overall. San Francisco are a better coached team but we are perfectly capable of getting hot and they are perfectly capable of having some bad games. Any given Sunday. Would you have picked Seattle and New England to be in the Super Bowl last year at this time? Most everyone would be lying if they said yes. And you know what? If you want to argue until you're blue in the face about Dak sucking or how any of us who actually want our football team to win are delusional, then cool dude. If you want to spend all your time behind an anonymous profile on a random Cowboys internet forum telling everyone "I told you so" because you take a glass half empty look on everything then that says way more about you than it does people who choose to spend their time rooting for their team to win. Spending this much time on here when you apparently want the team to lose is a level of pathetic that can't even be touched by the most delusional, optimistic fan. You don't have better things to do with your time if the Cowboys are so beneath you?
Yes, this team frustrates me more than I can fathom most times. If I was capable of jumping ship for another team I would have years ago. But alas, I've been watching them since I was in diapers and I'll be 40 next year, so I just can't quit them. So even if it's overly-optimistic I will continue to hope for the best, be mad when the worst happens, and enjoy the wins when they come.
