Tampa increased blitz rate

We don’t do that, CP expects us to rush with non rushing players, even though there has been basically zero success.
Dallas front plays a lot of twist and stunts and are ranked near or at bottom of EPA when they do.

It’s okay to expect a lot from a franchise QB. Dak makes $60 million annually, making him the second-highest-paid QB in the NFL behind Mahomes.

It looks like to me that Beebe should have picked up the blitzing LB and abandoned the double team block.

Not sure why he did not make the adjustment, you can see the LB moving well in advance.(At least you can in slow motion)
Looks like he was the one getting faked out this time.

but I thought Dak was elite against the blitz...

He's 3rd out of all quarterbacks in blitz completion rates. I guess being 3rd isn't elite, but is it amongst the worst? Remember... there are 32 starting quarterbacks in the NFL.

Let's see how good your math skills are.

On that play, Luepke missed his block. Had he stuff the blitzer, there might have been room for Williams to get some yards. It's think like that that make the difference.

Luepke has never been a very good FB because he is not good at his main function which is to pick up defenders like that. I like him for certain things but not as a lead blocker.

As for teh point about blitzer. You are 0-4, playing with a rookie QB against a supposed powerhouse offense. Why not take some risks and prevent Dak from using his two big time receivers? It is exactly what he should be doing.

If Parker had gut, he would have done the same ting to the rookie UDFA, especially on big 3rd downs.

WHAT?! When did they start letting teams do this “blitz” deal? I’m gonna have to let Jerry know about this. Daggum it. The league could’ve gave us a heads up here

It’s not like Williams forgot how to run the ball. The scheme sucks, and Bowles played a lot zone while blitzing. It got Dak completely uncomfortable and he struggled. IMO this offensive scheme sucks, and there are no adjustments. BS is in over his head and it’s costing this team.

These are run blitzes

Dak is good agains the blitz. He’s mediocre against zone. Dak throws well on his first read, meaning when he’s decisive and knows where he is going.

Again, blitz differs. Teams can blitz when they are tired and can’t generate pressure. Many mediocre QBs are good against the blitz.

Thought this deserved its own thread.

Interesting to see they increased run blitzes by 14% over their normal rate.

I like that Bowles essentially doubled down. All week we hear about how good we are, particularly Dak, at handling the blitz. Tampa was 0-4 and instead of backing off, they threw more pressure at us. Even if it had backfired, at least they tried. I give him credit for that.

I know they are talking about run blitzes, but blitzers are attacking before they know that it's not play-action, so Bowles made the decision to blitz and keep on blitzing until we gave him reason to stop.

Sounds like something our defense should consider too seeing we haven't been able to generate a lot of pressure and blow plays downfield anyway.
