Parker to move from field to coaches booth

To be fair, a lot of our successful defenses were called from the booth...as was our SB offenses.
If they did, i am sure the DC requested to be in the booth...sometimes they prefer it that way. Not a lot but sometimes. As for CP, hiding him in the booth and bringing in MP to be hands on coaching the defense says a lot in this situation. Entirely different thing going here.

I recall seeing Quinn in the booth at times while he was the DC here.
The most famous was probably Dom Capers who was an incredible DC.

Since his retirement he’s done the consultant/assistant thing for several teams.

Where are you getting that Pettine is coaching the defense now?

Sounds like fan fiction or wish fulfillment.

I imagine he’ll be upstairs with Parker.

It would be shocking if he’s on the sideline and if he is, they might as well just fire Parker. It would be pure Jerry for sure.

I think I see the plan. Stick Parker up in the booth to "call" the defense.

Then have Pettine on the sidelines to tell the players what they really should do instead. :muttley:

This should be better for Parker. I have noticed that when the camera zooms in on his face as he calls a play he tends to call the play and then stare at the field looking lost after the play call or between plays. When the broadcast zooms in on other young paycallers we see them constantly in their play sheet getting ready for the next play. Parker is overwhelmed right now. Taking him off the field may help.

I thought he could do that just by them two being on the headset together. And then my question is if Parker's not down on the field who's relaying this information to the players and other coaches trying to keep everybody on the same page. So that's that's all I'm interested in seeing is how does this communication work?
Yeah I thought the same but to differentiate the talk between booth and coaches on field and then to players on the field, possible but this helps him see the same thing Petine sees and can let them work together "in private"

Does this actually mean what it appears a lot of people on here think it means?

They said before the season started that they weren’t sure Parker was going to be on the sidelines or in the booth.

Also, this doesn’t mean that Pettine is going to even be in the stadium on game days.

“A lie can make it halfway around the world before the truth can put its pants on.” Mark Twain
That’s a dope quote.

He’s overwhelmed.

Not surprising..

And the more I think about it.. Why would you give a D Coordinator spot to someone who has never done it when you are dumpster diving on defense?

We should’ve saw this coming but I ate the cheese.
And when you are in win now mode…

Could have tried to get Wade Phillips..

I don't know. Nobody does. Word from the staff is that CP tried to get him to come in before the season started. I think he knew he needed help. Now MP can train him and help the Cowboys. It's a win-win, and not just a quiet demotion... in my opinion.

If he fires Parker, he pays him for nothing. In this way, he can get more experience.

I wonder what percentage of DCoordinators in the NFL are in the booth vs on the sidelines.

So by my count Jerry hired Johnson and Parcells and everyone else has been bad to really bad?

Maybe Chan Gaily was ok?
