Nolan vs Eberflus vs Parker through their first 5 games

The room.

To their credit they’ve done a good job of rebuilding that room no thanks to the drafts.

The issues are those 2023 and 2024 drafts are suppose to be in year 3 and contributing at a high level. The 25 and 26 guys just aren’t ready.

Factor in our trade or free agent acquisitions are hurt…this room looks worse than Tommy Wiseau’s.

And now think about who had the most/least talent to work w/!!!!

And did you evaluate what teams they played and how they are defensively?

What we do know is that all 3 have/had a sucky D. Don't see the point in comparing warts. And this comes down to having a terrible GM anyway.

I’ve heard the same. Mazi and Taco were Cowboys because coaches wanted them. This idea Jerry forced those picks are silly. He sucks at his job but all he knows is what’s told to him.
He tells anyone who will listen that the buck stops with him.

If he was a football guy. He would have known Taco wasnt better than Watt and told Rod to shove it.

So either he isnt the football guy he tells us he is or the buck stops with him, or both.

Nolan gave up 180 points, but 12 Passing TDs(84 points) and 7 Rushing TDs(49 points) for a total of 133 points via TDs.
There's still 47 points unaccounted for. We also gave up 15 field goals and a few 2 point conversions as well?
Unfortunatley, it’s right. Here’s a Nolan

  • 19 Touchdowns (6 points each) = 114 points
  • 14 Field Goals (3 points each) = 42 points
  • 1 Safety (2 points) = 2 points
  • 14 Successful Extra Points (1 point each) = 14 points
114 + 42 + 2 + 14 = 180 total points.

There were bunch of missed and blocked PATs

All those guys were fired after their first year. Not sure this stat is the flex tweet; I think it is.

25 sacks and 2 interceptions total among the three of them. Yuck! That is disgusting.

I'd like to see Dan Quinn compared to them. I wonder if it is markedly better after 5 games.

Nolan was 2020 so right before Micah Parsons was drafted. Jerry traded Parsons before Eberflus got the chance to use him. I'm sure Eberflus schemed his whole rush plan and defense around number 11 only for him not to be there week 1. Obviously Parker didn't have Parsons as a player either. Quinn is the only one that had Parsons. I would like to see if there is a correlation.

There is absolutely a correlation.
It can be argued it was causation.

Sacks by season
  • 2026: 17 (projected)
  • 2025: 35 - Clowney - 8.5
  • 2024: 52 - Parsons - 12
  • 2023: 46 - Parsons - 14
  • 2022: 54 - Parsons - 13.5
  • 2021: 41 - Parsons - 12
  • 2020: 31 - Lawrence - 14
  • 2019: 39 - Quinn - 11.5
  • 2018: 39 - Lawrence - 10.5
  • 2017: 38 - Lawrence - 14.5
  • 2016: 36 - Mayowa ! - 6
Not only did Parsons lead the team all four years he was here, he made the other pass rushers better.

Quinn also had both Bland and Diggs during their brief prime.

I’ve said it several times but it’s common for fans to be uncomfortable with the idea that the talent is the issue.

You can fire a coach overnight and hire someone the next day

You can’t do that with your entire pass rush.

That’s a good point that roster building is a long game. If you’re depending on your rookie class to save you, you’ve got problems.

I was curious to see how our offensive players have looked over the past 4 draft classes:

2023:
TE Luke Schoonmaker
OL Asim Richards
RB Deuce Vaughn
WR Jalen Brooks

2024:
OL Tyler Guyon
OL Cooper Beebee
WR Ryan Flournoy
OL Nathan Thomas

2025:
OL Tyler Booker
RB Jaydon Blue
OL Ajani Cornelius
RB Phil Mafah

2026:
OL Drew Shelton
WR Anthony Smith

A few observations:
2023 was terrible.

2024 was decent in that we got 3 starters. But no stars, so let’s see if they get a second contract. Guyton was on bust territory but might have turned it around.

2025 is mixed. Booker was a home run. Best pick in years. But the rest of the class is terrible.

2026 looks like a bust too. Are those guys even on the team?

Overall, we’ve done a pretty terrible job drafting RB and WR. We draft a lot of OL, and have done pretty well. A few home runs (Smith and Booker), a few solid picks (Guyton and Beebee), and a few busts.

Definitely curious to ever know how often the scouts and the coaches align or disagree heavily on players in the draft.

Have to wonder if Beebe has played well enough for them to pay him I assume average starting pay, or will they let him go like Biadasz and then try to draft another one to plug and play?

I just hope moving forward they can at least be as active in FA as they were this year. Don't want a huge signing but at least try for the 2nd level guys instead of dumpster diving.
And please stop trading day 3 picks for disappointments like Lance, Murray, B Jones(OT), thinking they can turn it around here
