Prescott and Romo bottomfeeders

Dak Prescott has a career regular-season record of 22-25 (.468) against teams that enter the game with a winning record.

Tony Romo had a regular-season record of 19-32 against teams with a winning record (above .500) and an 8-10 record against teams that finished at .500.

So for all of the guys touting how Romo was a much more capable QB, this stat shows the falsehood in that statement. They are pretty much the same QB. Both are known to put up good numbers yet crack in high pressure moments in big games against above average competition.

Just for the sake of comparison

Tom Brady 74–47
Highest number of wins against winning teams in NFL history.

Patrick Mahomes 22–12 (or ~64.7%)
One of the highest win percentages against winning competition in the modern era.

Lamar Jackson 14–4
Strong track record against winning teams, including standout single-season marks.

Very lazy take.

Bunch of buzzwords...like yer ESPN.

Let alone blaming win/losses/playoffs only on qbs.

Lazy low IQ.

Romo always had high powered offenses....girl...what the....
Sam hurd.
The Romo and Dak eras have only gotten us one game closer to the Super Bowl than Quincy Carter. So my overall “take” is if Dak were to leave the Cowboys we would not go into franchise purgatory because we are already there.

Since Aikman retired we have hovered around 500 with an occasional 10 win season and an occasional 5-7 win season and only 4 times a playoff win. 2 wins for Dak and Romo respectively.

People have laughed at me or said snarky comments but no one has refuted my overall point. We were a 10 win team and a playoff berth and an early exit from the playoffs with Quincy Carter. The statement of when Dak leaves we “will go back to the Quincy Carter days” is simply untrue because we are in those days expect Dak is the QB. Our franchise has maintained an average performance and an occasional playoff berth with nearly exit for 20+ years.

Truth hurts them.

Carter had the #1 defense that is true but look at the offense. Troy Hambrick at running back, oft injured WRs and a poor offensive line. What would have Carter done in 2016 with a rookie Zeke and that offensive line with Bryant and Witten.

But we can do this all day and this is a distraction argument from my overall point. Some fans believe once Dak leaves we will “go back to the dark ages of QB” well regardless of how many laughing emojis you throw at me the Quincy Carter era only came up one game shorter than the Dak era.

Dak and Romo are not preventing us from being in the dark ages, we are still in the dark ages. Romo and Dak are just more marketable by our terrible owner and GM and we (well some) are believing we’re competitive with these guys. Barely making the playoffs and getting a quick oust is not competitive. We’re still in the Quincy Carter dark ages of QBs we just like these guys better.
Yes, the 2003 Cowboys offensive supporting cast sucked, including the QB.

That's why the offense was 21st in points scored, while the defense was 2nd in points allowed.

The offense held that 2003 team back.

The 2026 Cowboys have a damn good offense and a terrible defense. The defense is holding this team back.

You're almost figuring this football thing out!

You seem to think that Participation Trophies count for something. And they count for NOTHING...

What I figured out is Romo and Dak are not franchise changing QBs. They are a part of the group of QBs that hasn’t replaced Troy. This team is still in rebuild mode 25 years later. Like it or not we are an average team with a couple seasons of 10+ wins and early playoff exit. We’ve also had some 5-7 win seasons . Overall we’re pretty average since Troy retired. This franchise is a bottom feeding franchise that beats up on weaker opponents and loses to playoff teams.

I am going to make a statement and you tell me what QB and what era I am talking about. We had a 10 win season and a disappointing early playoff exit. What year am I talking about? If that statement can be applied to the Carter Era, Romo era and Dak era then there is no Carter, Romo, or Dak era; we are still in the rebuilding era. This era started in 2000 and is currently going on.

If you want to debate show me the highlights of a divisional win since 2000. When that powerhouse team started getting injured and old in 1996-1998 we started dropping off. Once Aikman went down we went into rebuild mode. We’re still there and we’ve been there with 3 different starting QBs.

There’s a movie with Will Ferrel and John Reilly, the racing movie, and the dude says “if you’re not first you’re last”. That’s the NFL. If you’re not first you’re last. Putting up stats and highlights means nothing if you’re a fringe team. We’ve been a fringe team since 2000 but the difference is we are marketed as a winning franchise. I don’t buy into that thinking. 4 playoff wins in 26 years means something in not working.

I know. But someone said Romo elevated his team. Did he really though?

Not saying he wasn't a good QB with some very good moments. But should I list his numerous calamaties?

They're in some ways more painful than what we've recently experienced. Let's be fair. Romo had a massive choke bone, and a black cat career.

Just. Like. Dak.
Just absolutely factually not true.

I'd go ahead and post his numbers but people like you judt could not care any less about them.

You have absolutely ZERO idea what the franchises would be like without them.

Welll...you may have an idea in your head...but it means nothing.
Umm the franchise didn’t have them and we won 10 games, made the playoffs and was eliminated early. That’s not in my head. Google it. It is fact. Without Dak and/or Romo we went to the playoffs and lost in the WC round.

If you can prove to me that we did not win 10 games, made the playoffs and lost in the WC round than I will admit it’s all in my head.

Yeah, Troy won all on his own!

The #1 defense in the league had nothing to do with those Super Bowls!
