Pettine - I think I can help a lot

...I think a GB shut out is coming Sunday night. :)> ..

I'm going to tell you guys now, not quite a guarantee but almost. He will shore up the defense and improve it a bit. A veteran coach with a outside perspective, he is absolutely going to come in and make some small adjustments to show quick improvement. It doesn't matter that the players aren't performing, aren't tackling, etc. with his experience, he's going to quickly improve the efficiency.

I'm not saying he's going to work miracles. But if we had to put a number on it, he's going to move us up the defensive rankings three or four spots in the next few weeks just from tightening up on our glaring weaknesses.

I believe CP has the right mindset and plan, unfortunately it was too much change too quickly and combining that with so many new defensive players.

let's get a smooth guiding hand in here to help ease us into CPS overall changes, but slow the bleeding down. I've seen this many times in other industries. I'm not saying we're going to win the next few games but I am saying he will bring the experience to make some small changes quickly.
:hammer:

The fact that CP asked Pettine for help indicates that he has confidence in Pettine to help him. Jerry isn't the one who insisted upon hiring Pettine. That's what some see as the case here. As much as I dislike Jerry, I doubt it was his intention to get rid of CP but rather, trying to get Pettine to help him.
CP requested Pettine's presence from the start, which means his hire was totally wanted by CP.
CP gonna get fired,

I just find it weird that coaches that have spent most of their life around the game & so many people defer to as "experts" in all matters, can't figure out what the other teams are doing and thus a clue how to defend it.

Are other teams running anything exotic, ground breaking, against us?
The simplest explanation is that we just don't have the talent on D. Possible learning curve on defense as well. But that wouldn't explain giving up 241 yards on the ground to the Bucs. That's ridiculous. That's not scheme, that's just bad. Probably both.

The Giants ran the ball 37 times for 165 yards. Nothing exotic about it. The Bucs ran it 39 times. It reminds me of mismatch college games. Where one team just runs the ball because they're just a much better team. A consultant isn't changing the results.

I think it's more hope. We're desperate for anything and his "specialty" seems to be simulating pressure. He likes the Double-A pressures where you bring the linebackers up into the gaps and the OL has to sort out who's coming. Don't know how much of that we'll see since it's still Parker's defense, but we've got to get some quick pressure on the ball.
Especially considering our LBs suck outside of Barham—or they're out 5 weeks for a hamstring.

When he said he had a 4 inch.......i thought, it's gonna take more than that to satisfy this crowd. Lol

So CP reached out to him.
So not a Jerry thing.
Shows how much fans want to hate on Jerry. :lmao:
You've got this wrong. Fans do not WANT to hate on Jerry, they are forced to hate on Jerry due to his extreme bumbling as a GM and his insistence to remain one even though he's been absolutely awful at it.

Shows how much you're obsessed w/ Jerry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If he just gets them to tackle that would be great.

All jokes aside, I think Pettine will help. Will it be enough? Maybe not, considering he can't change the players on the team. But I expect modest improvement.

We will know he's had an impact if we start sacking the QB. Parker hasn't been able to affect the QB at all, and these pass rushers are bunk.

Listening to Mike talk to reporters, it seems clear that he cares for CP, considers him a good friend, and is here to help his friend out, not sabotage him. That said, it sounds like he will be brutally honest.

I hope it works out. Not sure I can survive another season of watching a 32nd ranked defense.

We have way more talent on this D than is being shown at present.

Maybe the pass rushers are bunk maybe not. However, you won't be able to find that out in a read and react D like Parker is playing. He's even making Q not look so good!!!!!

Shows how much you pay attention.
I am not obsessed with Jerry at all. You and the haters are. You always have to repeat the same thing.

I do not care for Jerry or the FO. But I do not allow them to consume me, nor my every post.

The interesting point in all this is that Parker reached out to him. Now, what we don't know is if he was told to reach out to Pettine or whether he did it on his own.

Guy’s history is interesting. His dad was a legendary coach in Bucks Country PA. (CB West). He was a very good high school coach at North Penn. He started as a quality control coach with the Ravens and moved up from there. He spent a bit of time with Pitt but he basically went from HS to the NFL.
