If Milton gets a real chance to play with Eagles this could get good!

Has all the natural gifts...size, running ability, cannon of an arm

However if you dont have the mental aspect down its all a waste of talent. Any sort of pressure he panics, makes bad throws, and etc. Have always been concerns with his accuracy and ability to read defenses
His worst quality is accuracy. His accuracy has to be the worst in the NFL.

I have watched alot of Qb player over the years and personally even though he was far from perfect I saw great upside with Milton in the preseason... I'm out on Dak because I have seen enough of his deer in the headlights and his inability to have what I consider Elite Qb composer... Having said that, If Milton does indeed get chance with Philly and does great, I believe that may be the total nail in the coffin for me as a fan. Each and every year my enthusiasm lessens.

If you were like me and liked what you saw from Milton and wanted to see him get a real chance, how would you feel if Milton became a star in Philly? Hypothetically that is??? I would be happy for Joe quite honestly, but I'm sure Jerrah would spin it on how much he loves him some Dak and happy for Milton, YADA YADA...
Shocked. One read wonders w/ no field vision don't become super stars.

:lmao:

I can't call myself an expert on any level but I can't help but think I know a special QB when I see one, and Joe really has something. I don't know if he can be a reliable starter in the NFL but I think he has a lot of ability and the jump I saw him take from last season is huge. What I'm saying is I think it was a mistake not holding onto him.
Wrong ability. He didn't show the ability to learn the playbook and go through progressions. What you saw was a strong arm hitting wide open first reads. Won't work against real Ds.

Up to this point, roughly half the posters who've commented in this thread.
Yup, because at least half of us prefer a competent Qb over an athlete. His athleticism is nice to have, but not what makes a good starter at QB.

FWIW: I liked Milton when I watched him in the preseason.
I thought he was more versatile than whoever the other guy is.
Better arm. Better runner. Better athlete.
Who wouldn’t want that?
People who want to win. Because that's not the important assets in a QB.

Here we go. Ridiculous fans coming out of the woodwork. Talking about once again turning in their cowboy card if they miss out on some spare quarterback. That hasn't done a thing yet in the NFL and was sitting on the practice squad for anybody to take at any time and it took. A rival just probably to put a thorn in our side. But sure, they have Jaydon Blue and Milton. They're gonna win 6 Super Bowls with them. Yeah, let's get ridiculous. I'm turning in my cowboy card if this time. They miss out on a player. It's so ridiculous. You are so ridiculous. The extra in here is sad at times. Look, there's a lot of things that you can. Stand behind and protest. This isn't one of them. But hey, if he ends up turning his career round, that's great. I mean, Sam Darnold did it for the most part, but he's being exposed again. He is what he is. It will take a great team for someone like Milton to even have a chance, but you're over Dak, a guy who's putting up MVP numbers just about every year. No, he's not an MVP, but he's putting up. Top five numbers and you're just over it. For a guy like Milton. That's all I need to know about you. Get back to your fantasy football and your Madden, because this is the weirdest pose I've seen that you're gonna turn in your card. This is what pushed you over the edge if Milton. Of all people. Somehow, the Cowboys let get away..

The insanity. I wasn't even going to say anything, but I was in such shock. That I just had to. Dude. Just whatever it is that's bothering you, it ain't the cowboys you need to seek therapy. Because I don't know if he's gonna get on the field much. They may have a package for him, but Tanner Mckee is better than you think. And let me explain something to you. They also have another backup. Jalen Hurts is not out for the year. He'll probably miss four weeks. I think that's the minimum. They just want to make sure he's on blood thinners and it is. Clot clears his. His time is not over. He may even return back this year. You're just so extra. It's insane that you would even post that. This is where you make your stand on 1. Joseph Milton...

Milton has a cannon arm and can perform well when there is a clean pocket. When there’s any rush at all, he’s one of the worst QBs ever to make a Dallas roster. There’s a reason he cleared waivers for 31 other teams. Think about that. He holds zero interest for 31 other teams. I agree with 31 other teams, and I think Milton doesn’t even belong on the practice squad.
He only got poached from our PS due to injury. And unless there's another injury he won't even play.

It looks like he will get a shot.
How so? Did you see Tanner Mckee and? In the preseason. He's the one that's been with them all year. He will be the starter. And Hertz is not gone. This is a 4 week thing where they probably give him blood thinners. Make sure he's. Healthy and he comes back, he's not injured. He will be back. So there's 4 weeks where you're going to see at least the Eagles use their current crop. Of quarterbacks and maybe somehow Milton comes in for a package if they make him the number 2. I haven't looked 'cause I don't follow the Eagles, but you guys are nuts. You just act like Jalen Hurts just lost a leg and he hasn't. Is not coming back and you're not paying attention. Tanner Mckee is a pretty damn solid prospect, 'cause I saw him in preseason. He played pretty damn well...

But you're right, we should be extra. Everybody read all about it. Jane on Blue and Milton are gonna take the Eagles to the promised land. Yes, this is what I love about the ridiculous comments with Cowboy fans who don't think before they speak. And this dude's laying down h And this dude's laying down his card if Milton turns out to be a good quarterback. .
Exactly what's the time limit on that? Because Jalen Hurts will be the quarterback later this year. I guarantee he's coming back. But even if he doesn't. He will be back next year. But there are other quarterbacks on this team that'll probably be better. But how long have we given Milton? As long as Sam Darnold got. I mean, Geno Smith, these dudes, how long are they gonna roll around the league or? How long are we giving Milton to call him great and that the Cowboys made that mistake of not replacing? A guy who's still playing in his prime, who's putting up MVP numbers, but you're over him 'cause you want a guy like Milton just because he's 6 foot 5 with a rocket arm. There's about 70 of those. That come out of college. In the last decade that are no good in the NFL.,..

Milton is nothing but a short term rental until Hurts gets back. No idea if they know it, but Philly fans do not want him to play.

I don't doubt that you may be a better evaluator of QB play than me. Just for fun, where do you think he might go in an NFL draft if he'd played in college the way he played in preseason this year?

It's a different office. He definitely seems like a better fit than Tanner McKee.

if they can get their run game going, it'll take big pressure off of either QB
Their OL is make shift. Every running back on their roster is from the practice squad. Any QB back there without significant NFL experience is going to have a rough time. Just surviving is as good a fit as can be expected for the poor soul playing QB for Philly.

The odds are extremely low. I estimate less than 1% but...

The starting quarterback could get hurt. Tanner McKee is currently starting for the Eagles.

The backup quarterback could get hurt. Cole Payton is McKee's insurance plan.

It's not like ^ nonsense ever happened before. Right?

Just something to think about in case this thread OP's premise somehow miraculously becomes reality. And here is a link before an essay pops into this plane of existence explaining why this what if of a what if cannot happen.

A lot of QBs have a cult like following for no apparent reason. Zach Wilson in NY, and Justin Fields in Chicago. Just to name a few. I don't know what the fascination with Milton is. But at the same time, I wouldn't be surprised if he rushed for over 100 yards against us.

Interesting thought. I'd have to separate into two facets.

1. If he only played as little as he did in preseason, still late in the draft.
2. If he played all season that way, then 2nd or 3rd, most likely.

To be clear, to get my evaluations I read a ton from what experts say, and then extrapolate that info to attempt a reasonably logical conclusion.

In this case, Milton showed to be a good playmaker, but we already knew that. However, to be a good starting QB you must go through progressions and you must have the ability to see and interpret the entire field. It's a very strange ability, because a QB has nanoseconds to go through all this. You can't just be smart, you must be fast/smart.

Milton did play very well, of that there is no doubt. However, I didn't observe him going through progressions. His first read was mostly open. So, why were they open? Because in the preseason you mostly have DBs who can't mirror a WR.

So, you're not just watching for completed passes, you're analyzing why the pass was completed and then trying to evaluate whether that same pass would've been good against NFL talent.

That's why you see so many backup/young QBs look good in preseason. Poor coverage.

I think it's due to his extreme athleticism, and the lack of knowledge many have as to what makes a good NFL QB.

When commentators, coaches and fans say a player has " upside" that usually means he's not playing very well and probably never will..............

Maybe team loyalty too. We hope our players succeed. No one wanted to see him fail.
