Dak Prescott and the offense has been the problem

As we know....Dak isnt the problem, however with the talent, resources and onus placed on him and the Offense it needs to be doing better than 16 and 13 pts (especially when they're at pretty much full strength) .... and based on last years claims "we just need an average Defense", well two weeks of conceding 23 and 24 pts isnt bad.
We need Jerry to accept that he needs to retool the resources he has......Dak's not ever going to win a ring in Dallas (maybe he'll waive the NTC). If, and we shouldnt, be prepared to to pay 2 WR's top 5 money then Pickens has to be traded.

If Dak could waive his NTC, I could see someone trading for him that's a QB away but is better run. And I think we have to trade Pickens. He's not coming back next year regardless. We aren't anywhere close to a championship. Might as well trade him and get draft pick(s) for him.

Dak Prescott and the offense has been the problem. I know it's easy to rip on the D. But, let's be honest. Dak and the offense have been POOR, especially the last two weeks. The D has actually been improving, and I loved seeing them be more physical today. Not their fault that the offense couldn't score more than 7 in the first half against Tampa, and scored 0 in the first half against GB (even AFTER a pick).

I don't understand why we aren't taking deep shots. We have elite WRs in Lamb and Pickens. If you have WRs like them who thrive in deep passes (like we saw last season), then we SHOULD take a few shots every so often. Even if it doesn't succeed, it plants a seed of doubt in the opposing D, and it gets them to back off. But, for whatever reason, we aren't doing that. We're just dinking and dunking with WRs who are capable of more than that. But then, tonight, the one time they tried that, Dak threw it right to the Packers after we got a pick.

So, I'm afraid that I'm going to have to say it. I like Dak. But, it's time to find the next franchise QB. This team clearly doesn't have a spark. The offense looks woeful, despite over $100 mil allocated to that side in cap space ($60M of which to the QB). I think the time has come for 1. Us to get a more proper HC (maybe someone like Sean McDermott) and 2. It's time to find the next QB. I think we'd sit the rookie a year behind Dak to learn the pro game, but I think 2027 has to be the last year. Dak looks to be regressing.

My ONE concern is that I DO NOT want Archie Manning. But, I am concerned/expecting Jerry to draft him for his last name to try to sell him as the next franchise QB.

I get that, but they haven't been giving up a lot of points on the scoreboard. They've been getting stops. And they've been pretty solid in the first half the last two weeks. If the offense is what they say they are, we have to be coming away with more than 7 points total in the first half in two games.

UNLESS you can talk Dak into waiving his no-trade clause and you find some team willing to make a deal for him. Good luck with that.

I think teams have figured out if they cover the slants, Dak becomes a deer in the head lights. Dak knows he doesn't have time to go to another hot read because the protection won't hold up. If the Cowboys had any balls they'd bench him. Maybe then he'd be open to a trade. The problem is they need to draft or acquire someone who they can say with a straight face they are trying to develop .

The garbage time touchdown pretty much sums up Dak's career. Living off dining out against prevent defense when the opposition just want to finish the game without any injuries and allow him to massage his stats baby after the game was already long over as a competitive affair.

And they needed 2 roughing the passer calls to even get that! One of those roughing the passer calls was atrocious. I know this is brought up each year but I am seeing many games effected by the refs bad calls late game this year.

The NFL needs to invest in year long refs and a referee training academy.

Technically, we might be able to June 1 cut him after 2027. And frankly, the Broncos moved in from Russell Wilson and ended up being okay even with the cap issues. It's not exactly team killing to do that. There's nothing to say we are drafting a QB this draft, and Dak gets one more year to get us to an NFCCG, or he's cut after that season.

The broncos are run different than the cowboys as an organization. They won with Tim Tebow as qb.

He should seriously consider re-teaching himself not to do the jump pass. There is no consistent accuracy throwing with it. And there are occasions when he has time to set his feet and pass without automatically deferring to it.

Used to be able to beat the blitz, and now we can't. It's weird. People just don't lose 100 IQ points in a month. Dak and our receivers used to make people pay. What is going on? Anyway, glad I went to bed before halftime.

For the last 2 games, sure. Overall? No chance. You keep saying the defense has been improving - the bar is last years historically bad defense. Dak has been terrible the last 2 games, as has the offense as a whole but defense has been the much larger issue.

Even last night which I know you’re gonna say the defense played better (and dak was horriiiiiible) the packers came in with the worst 3rd down offense in the league. They went 90% last night on first downs.

Offense is in a slump. A bad one. Defense has been the bigger issue in the other games and again love your posts but this is massive recency bias. The biggest hole on offense is their rushing attack- it’s last in the league.

Even with the duds we still have the 13th offense in the league, nowhere good enough but still far from our biggest issue

These are just excuses to defend him. One of the reasons for the systemic rot is because of decisions like the Dak contract. If you get a franchise QB, nobody is going to question that decision. What they will question is what they do with the pieces around him. But there is no question Jerry had tried to make life easy for Dak.

Dude just came off arguably his best season as a QB ever. The last two weeks, it’s become obviiis teams have figured out Schotty’s offense and Dak is back to the guy we saw in the playoffs against GB. The guy cannot process the field fast enough. He’s an early progression QB that has the fortune of 2 number 1s to throw to.
