Dak looked like he had never seen a blitz before

You have entirely unrealistic expectations. Dak's not fast but his movement in the pocket is pretty much as good as it gets. The problem is that he has to do it constantly, which is impossible.

Meanwhile, here's Pat Mahomes

His movement in the pocket is pretty much as good as it gets? This year? You don’t mean like 2016-19? He struggles to ever escape unless he shoves someone and keeps his feet. He used to bootleg and roll out waaaaaay faster. It’s literally night and day. Go watch early career scrambles/runs of Dak and compare that to what he shows on the field now or for that matter 2024.

Dodging guys and running away has to be an occasional move. If you are heaving the entire responsibility for solving these blitz schemes on the coaches and not any on the 11 year “franchise” QB, I am done discussing. He could and should speak with the coaches and or Jerry about scheme route combo changes to alter the approach. Yes, I agree some blame goes to the coaching staff-but a ton of this is an indictment of where this player is at in his career arc. He is not Brees, or Rodgers, or Brady, or even Stafford. Quick flicks of his wrist are not his game. He has his normal throwing stance and wind up that he likes to use almost exclusively. He is having a devil of a time escaping any rusher by running away to even buy a little time.

His numbers against pressure are always at the top of the league.

In 2025 against pressure: First in completion percentage (PFF), first in completion rate (PFF), first in grade (PFF), 2nd in DVOA.

The idea that he consistently struggles with pressure is patently false. He is one of the best in the league at it.
We also have the same oline, starting RB and WRs. Same offensive coaches too.

With all that said, he has sucked the last couple of games.

He was mostly fine against Tampa but he had happy feet last night I think.

No Crash......it's time for Justin Herbert, to get a QB you might like. Just trying to make you happy. All else doesn't matter. Missed tackles, slipping on your routes, missed blocks, ignoring blocks, dismissing 3rd down conversion rates, disregarding poor pass coverage, neglecting poor efforts, displaying very little fight or pride......none of those matter. Just want to make you happy.
aww, someone is touchy today

According to way too many people on this board our backup QB is always an all-pro who can do no wrong and we'd win every game if we'd just bench Dak in favor of whoever our backup is. Don't feed the trolls good sir.
Absolutely not true. At all.

Now...there are certainly the "move on" and "anyone BUT" crowds.

And Cooper Rush DID win some games, so there's that. (When all the Dak fans demanded a tanking)

I'm with the likes on your post.....beginning to think they have a lot of clout on the board, more ways than imagined. I'm with the likes on your post.

This is 100% correct. The only variable I don't know is how much of this is on Dak to audible/communicate vs. the whole team being so woefully underprepared and outcoached that it doesn't matter. What I continue to really not understand is how the o-line is so much worse after Smith came back, and how they adjusted well to the blitz against Houston and then have fallen on their face the past 2 games. Makes no sense.

It's astounding the amount of people who get mad and just go "DAK BAD, IT HIM FAULT HE MAKE TOO MUCH MONEY" and not realize how bad our coaching has been. Dak has plenty of blame for some playoff losses and other losses over his career but this year we are just being brutally out coached.
Well, if they think differently than us, they weren't watching the game. I mean, the dude took that rib shot. And I was shocked that they had a pass called. That wasn't something they could have just handed the ball off, get the ball out of his hand real short, real fast, because they should've took a time out there. I mean, dude obviously just got the wind knocked out of him, probably has sore ribs and they chucked the ball down the field. Yes, that's on him. He threw the interception, but. They should have took a minute. And got rearranged in that area. But yeah, these straight runs at the quarterback the last couple of weeks, especially out of 78. The right side is just horrible. And then the guys are not. Getting their hot reads the the receivers are literally not. Breaking off their routes and listening to the hot read because they are going too deep. They are not giving him an opportunity to get the ball out when these free runners are coming at him. Something is wrong there. I don't know what it is. Could be Schottenheimer could be dumb players. I don't know why. Tyler Smith. Isn't playing as well as bass, but there's something going on. And it needs to get fixed. Maybe a new players only meeting for the offense now. I was shocked that the offense looked that bad. I mean, I knew they were gonna try to blitz 'cause they saw it the week before with Tampa Bay. They saw it in the first half against the Houston team. I watched it. This line cannot pick the blitz up of somebody is not getting their. Calls out from the line. To the receivers. Somebody's missing something?.

The Packers were running blitzes that the Cowboys did not pick up. I couple of times I saw them blitz two guys through the same gap and no one picked up either guy. At the same time, Tyler Smith and Beebe were standing their with no one to block. Someone got the protections all wrong. Instead of calling more slants to Pickens or CeeDee to the blitz side, he eventually called that stupid quick pass to CeeDee behind the line of scrimmage to the outside. There were 3 Packers there waiting for it. I am not expert but it is my understanding when 2 guys blitz from one side you throw to where they were because no one will be there.

Give the Packers credit, they played hard tight defense and played the way Dallas should play. They were locked on to our receivers on the LOS and did not let them get open. They blitzed to get pressure and made Dak very uncomfortable. I only wish the Cowboys would be that aggressive.
It wasn't about that being uncomfortable. It's about having nowhere to throw the damn football, the hot reads, the communication to the outside. The receivers are running too deep. For blitz calls, that is the offensive lineman. First of all, the center is supposed to call that out. The line is supposed to adjust. Prescott, I'm sure, saw it, but what's he supposed to do? No matter which direction he tried to run, he was running into somebody. He needs somewhere to go with the ball. It's short, especially after he got hit in the ribs. There was nothing short called or run called or a timeout called, and something's gotta be done with that now. Must be a players only meeting. But it's not about lack of comfort. He has nowhere to go with the damn ball. What do you wanna do? Just step back three steps and kneel? Because that's the only other option 'cause somebody's not listening to the center, who should be calling it out to the outside the line? Who should be getting it to the tight ends? Who should yell it out to the receivers? They are not listening. The routes are too deep. There isn't any true hot routes. And yes, the things that they were doing, they were sitting on them. That is not Dax fault. Stop acting like this was Dak. This is the offense not picking up the blitz in the first half of the Houston game, they were doing the same thing and somehow the Cowboys adjusted enough and got it done in the second half and won that game. But then they started it again. Tampa Bay saw it. They did it. Now the Green Bay did it. Somebody's gotta come up with a plan. To block better, but also to make sure the receivers and tight ends and running backs understand what a hot read is and that you have to make that adjustment. They weren't giving Prescott anywhere to go with the ball....

Deer in the headlights. Showed very little mobility the last two games. Just throws high and away off his back foot. Doesn't step into a throw like you are supposed too.

The question is, what do you think Philly will do next Monday? Yep, the same thing the Bucs and Packers did.
Philly's not a heavy blitzing team. They'll stop the run cold. But Dak should have time to process.

As bad as Dallas is, Philly is a MASH unit right about now.

It the Cowboys lose to such a decimated team, I see somebody losing their job.

The offense is too predictable. Any DC with an above average IQ will just copy Gannon and Bowles gameplan. Show a blitz heavy front and use a robber in coverage. Schotty hasnt figured it out. Dak hasnt figured it out. The heralded OL coach hasnt either. We're lost when more than 4 rush the passer. Guys get in quickly and we have no answer for it.

The big tuna told Romo, that he would love when a team blitzed.. Romo made teams pay when they blitzed, dak just doesn't have that instinct,he just gets rattled and cowers.
