I hate to be the sourpuss this morning after what was otherwise a very encouraging night of good football from the backups.

But I'm sorry. Last night put, yet again, the picture in the frame regarding the embarassment of an owner and "GM" we have to suffer.

Question 1:
How many General Managers spend a preseason game, the most critical time to evaluate talent and roster construction, sipping chardonnay in the press box?

Question 2:
How many General Managers do you see go ape nuts with their family during a preseason game when an interception gets returned for a touchdown? It was like a post-game Super Bowl celebration up there.

It just speaks to the delusion of the man. Thank God above we have a head coach that is above it all when it comes to Jerry.

Jerry is such a doofus.

He has been here since 1989, .. you just now noticing he is a little off, and is a doofus ?

To be honest though, I thought he was fine last night.

Please move to the Rant Zone. :p

Just kidding, we all know Jerry is a fan first and a GM second. Oh well....

It's no secret last night had a happy go lucky feel to it. Even Garrett wasn't too pent up, just a lot of good feelings about LA

Jerry is such a doofus.

Probably every single one of them. But it would be speculation either way.

good god. he can't go on the field cause owners shouldn't do that.

he's not the GM so he shouldn't be involved.

so he sits in the box and watches a game and people still bag on him.

ignore has a new friend today.

Well, you obviously didn't read the post.

He was drinking wine during a game. Sound like a GM to you? Can you see Ron Wolf with a 40-ounce during a Packers game?

Jealousy is an ugly emotion. Are you really paying that much attention to what Jerry is drinking? Sounds like an obsession to me. And I also went 'ape nuts' when Holloman returned the INT for a TD. All that tells me is that we have a GM who has passion like a true Dallas Cowboy fan. I think the Holloman pick was a good find by the scouts and JJ. His athleticism showed last night.

How can anyone watch that game last night and call the GM responsible for the talent on the field a 'doofus' is beyond me. So far, the 2013 rookie class looks very promising. Which must have all the Jerry-is-the-devil-incarnate fans all upset. What a shame:D

Wow dude, get a life...looks like that GM was excited about his Rookie class

You clown

A general manager of an NFL team was drinking a glass of wine during a talent evaluation game.

The other 31 GMs wouldn't even think of doing that.

I went crazy during that int for a touchdown too. There are just some plays in football that are so exciting to watch that it doesn't matter to me if its preseason or not.

But you're a fan. You can drink beer and go nuts all you want.

The GM is supposed to be working and have a sense of the task at hand, not hanging with the family at the neighborhood block party.

Answer #1:

Who cares? Talent evaluation and roster construction talk are going to happen at the coaching staff level, and only after watching film in considerable detail. The only people making snap judgments based on individual plays without knowing the defense and particular assignments are the same people making snap judgments based on snippets of beverage drinking.

Answer #2:

Who cares? Perhaps Jerry should simply have nodded and smiled knowingly or would he then have been criticized for smugness and lack of enthusiasm? Exactly what level of enthusiasm should we -- as fans -- permit Jerry?

Not like there's film or anything to go over the rest of the week all GMs in the league do all their evaluations live on gameday...

Remember when I told you that you are a good writer but that sometimes you come out with some crazy stuff? Well, this is one of those times.

That's because they don't own the team. Jerry doesn't have to worry about being fired so he can do whatever he wants including enjoying watching his team play in the HOF game. Was he drunk? Do you think he missed anything and by the way they have these things called video cameras that record everything and let you watch it over and over again as may times as you like. The HOF weekend is one big party for the NFL community. I don't see anything wrong with Jerry's behavior.

Jerry Jones watched the game, i was offended. news at 9 because im an hour ahead special of the others. Jerry Jones congrats team on a job well done, in a pre season meaningless game, offense at the 10 oclock hour. And before you go to bed, Jerry Jones is still GM of the cowboys, good ruage.
