Just watch this interview and recall back to all the times in the off season he laughed off suggestions that the cap would not hold us back from addressing our holes. Well 2nd question in he admits it. Oline was not addressed partly b/c of the Cap issues, period. He even had the nerve to blame injuries as if this line would be better off with a healthy Livings/Bernadeau. This guy doesn't get it.

I feel very uneasy about our future with him in charge. I don't see what this guy brings to the table for this organization. Can somebody break it down for me? He's not even as charismatic as Jerry.

Are you saying healthy Livings/Bernadeau would not be any better than injured Livings/Bernadeau? Hard to imagine that would be the case.

I used to be very impressed by him, and heard so many good things about him. I found myself wishing Jerry would just hand things over to him, and that we'd be so much better off. But now, fair or not, I'm not sure about that.

The starting OL, as is, Waters or Moore-less doesn't really have me worried all that much. It was god awful last year and we went 8-8, with clear improvements this year, I don't think we have to worry, then Waters is just a luxury signing

Ugh. S. Jones has said that they had no concerns about getting under the cap, NOT that the cap would never prohibit them from signing someone. People, we were hit with an unfair cap penalty AND franchised Spencer, yet we still found a way to be nearly 10 mil under the cap. That's pretty impressive.

It would be even more if we were not on the hook for the bad contract given to Jay Ratliff.

I am incredibly impressed with Stephen. He's a cap genius in the way he's had to figure out ways around his daddy's spending habits.

You think Jerry understands the cap?

Name one team that currently doesn't have a bad contract or is still being stung by one?

I can also list Orlando Scandrick and Doug Free as two more that have been particularly painful to look at.

He can manipulate the numbers and gets that end done---in other words, is not as incompetent as many and is good at playing the funny money game every year to get wiggle room, but that is half the battle.

All of these skills are unnecessary at the end of the day if the business of self-evaluating the talent was better. If he were a better talent evaluator and knew what talent was worth locking up to these contracts, then he could earn the "genius" label.

In that regard, he has the same flaws as his father in overvaluing what he has and it shows in the books. Once someone shows a glimmer of talent, they are more apt to throw money at the player than rely confidently on their own ability to replace them if they go outside of budget. If there is one thing we do not do is take a hard line with what we are willing to spend.

there is a huge difference in being able to get under the cap and being able to go out and cut who ever you want and sign who ever you want.obviously had we had the cap space

All we really did was push money into the future. Our cap situation is not better, per say. It's only forestalled.

Jerry has said himself that Stephen is gaining more control of the team the past few years.

Judging by the most drafts and coaching changes, I'm guessing he will be a solid owner for us.

Atleast I'd like to believe that...at the moment the arrow for this team is pointed upwards, so I'll be satisfied with that.

I am holding out hope that Stephen has enough sense to hire a GM and not appoint himself. As long as he hires one, then I am good with him owning the team. Not sure I can handle another era with a Jones as GM and owner :(

Livings is serviceable, he did an ok job as the year went on last year... Your not going to have a pro bowler everywhere.... I actually think if Livings was healthy they wouldn't be trying to acquire another Guard at the moment... But that's just my opinion

Bernardeu is a back up, he was a back up in Carolina we experimented with him as a starter and it didn't work out. That's why I think a move for a starting Guard opposite Leary is coming after Brandon Moore retired.

And I see big improvements with the way the organization has been run the last 3 years, I can't speak for anyone else but I've been pleased with the improvements that have been made over the last 3 years.

I see some are getting prepared to hate on another Jones when Sr steps aside, or passes on.

I think Stephen has a lot more control over this team already, then a lot of people realize.

Same here. I used to think he'd be a big improvement, and maybe he would be. But he seems to sound more like his daddy every year..
