Nostrad'onion on Miley Cirus

It amazes me how the public gets drawn in to this kind of thing....

I guess I have a small amount of sympathy for the girls, who I presume are now in their late teens, that are now in the ruins of their childhood. The parents though who are in all shock and dismay are complete idiots if they thought this woman wasn't going to find a way to make money now. What ever happened to Hillary Duff anybody care about her anymore?

I meant how people act as if her performance was such a big news story. Meanwhile, more pressing issues are taking place while we concern ourselves with her "performance". It's the royal baby syndrome. Americans are an apathetic lot.

No it's not, she was a big influence to a lot of young girls, probably still is. At one point when she walked by that woman with the large posterior, she stuck her tongue out and simulated a motor boat, getting shocked MTV would show this is not quite the same as the royal babby being born. Cyrus makes Madonna seem classy, I didn't think that was possible four days ago. Billy Ray has my sympathy.

I think it is the royal baby syndrome in that the American public seems drawn to things that don't really matter to us. And Billy Ray was an idiot; it's no wonder his daughter is too.
 
You think a former Disney child star simulating that many vulger acts on an international broadcast isn't important? You are underestimating how easily young girls are influenced.

I'm saying we should care about more pressing things. Child stars isn't one of them. If a child is so easily influenced, then maybe they should spend less time in front of the t.v., Disney programs or otherwise, and get involved in things that matter in the world. I get it. We all like to be entertained, but the line has to be drawn somewhere.

Good parents know how to keep there child away from bad influences... watching MTV itself is something a child shouldn't be doing. MTV is the definition of bad influence. So in reality, good parenting renders people like Miley pointless... there just isn't that many good parents. hence front page news, meanwhile in the third page Syria is using chemical weapons on its own people, and threatening to basically start WW3 if the US intervenes....but all anyone cares about this week is Miley twerking on Robin Thicke....

like McCoy said we got more important things to worry about...

My 12 year old son is pretty fired up about the influence it could have on the young girls around him.

People love train wrecks and Cyrus is currently going 250 MPH with a hairpin curve upcoming. That's why Lindsay Lohan gets so much press coverage. The child actors who somehow make it to be mature, responsible adults don't get a media frenzy. Someone in this thread proves that point by asking whatever happened to Hillary Duff. She got married and had kids and has never been in trouble with the law. No shock value there so the media ignores her so they can show vulgar moves by Miley Cyrus and the coverage from Lindsay's most recent court appearance.

The young starlet from 'Matilda' wrote a nice article on why young celebrities often turn out to be train wrecks.

Quite simply put, they're never really allowed to be kids, which can lead to a lot of different destructive routes, but for the sake of this thread I'll focus on what I think is going on with Miley at the moment.

Young entertainers are under a microscope from day one by not only the media and public, but often their own studio. When they're in their early teens they can't really make the stupid mistakes young teens make-- not just because of the pressure of critical perception, but they also just don't have the time or freedom to do so. They just never really learn how to grow up and they never get all the 'young and stupid' out of their system.

So what you get is Miley Cyrus making 'look at me' mistakes that she should have made in middle school-- only she doesn't have any parental guidance any longer because she's technically an adult and she doesn't have to listen to what anyone says. Then you couple that with the fact that she has a grand stand to make said mistakes on and the downfall is amplified.

Do her son and husband make her millions? Let me put it in perspective, Miley grew up she was exposed for not being talented enough to cut it to be a genuine entertainer. So she goes the route of other hacks, i.e. Snooki/Paris/Kim K. those types. She isn't a cute teen that is trendy and can garner the masses to buy her crap, so she went the down the outrageous and mindless path. This isn't critiquing her as a person or Hillary it is what is pragmatic and going to get her MONEY.
 
I must be out of touch. I have no idea who Hillary Duff is and I don't even know why Miley Cirus is so famous, other than her dad was the mullet man, achy breaky heart guy.
