It is time to move Dak under center!

Been clamoring for this for years. That’s why the offense also looked so different last year when Dak got hurt. Same offense but Rush could take snaps under center. Play action is a very difficult proposition in shotgun when the defense knows you can’t run anymore.

Up the middle for sure though booker’s first couple games gonna be a challenge for a rookie. The tackles are still a qurstion mark. But both to me looked better late in the year and are healthy so that should get better

You are just about as likely to get hit in shotgun as dropping back though it does take another second or two

Well, it's not so much the hit I'm worried about. It's back peddling and planting the foot over and over again. Keep in mind, this is a guy that just wore an ankle boot on a fishing boat.

Dak can always evade pressure from the edges, but not up the middle. I feel they could create that inside wall like they had with Leary/Travis/Martin again.
 
Dak doesn’t need the extra distractions from his reads. He struggles enough with them in the shot gun.

Let’s not complicate things for him.
 
The Church of Dak cannot accept the fact that their dear beloved icon is simply incapable of running an offense from under center.

I can’t believe people believe this propaganda baloney. They hear it once and they keep running with it. He can read a defense as well as any other quarterback in the league. Saying he can’t is ridiculous. You don’t get the numbers he gets not being able to read a defense.

You do realize how long it's been since Jared Goff was a RAM I mean come on seriously let's stay in just last year or let's do a two year study but you reaching all the way back to Jared Goff with the Rams who couldn't win his Super Bowl but Matthew Stafford did I don't get why you're trying to cherry pick it look we all agree they need to run it more under center but you just can't be a one trick pony you're going to have to mix it up so let's just move it to 50% how about 52.5% would that make you happy why don't you send a note down to Jerry hopefully he'll pass it on to BS and they'll get it worked out just for you.lol .

I'm just having a little fun with you but apparently a lot of people in here believe they have more ideas and they only want to think about these things but the entire coaching staff for the Dallas Cowboys have no idea the semen existed they haven't been thinking about it or have they but they're not telling anyone because why would you?

Isn't there a threat on does the Dallas Cowboys have an advantage with the new coaching staff and a lot of people said no a lot of people want to deny it but this would be one of them keeping things like this a secret their new ideas the things they might do and no they're not going to do it in preseason and no they're not going to do it in open practices these are things you'll never see or hear about until the game plan start rolling out in the real season starts..

I'm pretty sure this is like pretty common knowledge teams understand and I'm sure they'll try to get it installed if they think it'll work for this offense.....

Why is it important to be under center? It makes a defense play honest as they don't know if a run or a pass is coming. Do you have the numbers? Percent UC vs shotgun?

They have to mix it up where it's not obvious that UC mean run play.
 
Dak has played plenty of snaps from under center. However, going all the way back to Tom Landry, the Cowboys have always been more of a shotgun team. Many think it is easier to read a defense when you aren't turning your back to it.

Staubach and Romo played tons in the shotgun. Aikman is the only Cowboy QB I can remember who played more under center, and that wasn't the scheme; it was his preference. He came from Oklahoma where the QB was more of a runner, and then had only a little shotgun experience at UCLA. He was uncomfortable with it.

Most QBs can do both after a year or two in the NFL.

hey dad, Welcome to the new nfl where they run multiple offenses and they don't have a run first offense that everything runs through the offensive line in the running back that's very rare nowadays I don't know where you've been but this is the 90s..

Not sure why you or even I don't want to hear what happened 5 years ago let's stay in the now let's stay in this is always in flux but we even seen back then we seen running shoot offenses we've seen all kinds of weird greatest show on turf type offenses everybody runs something different trying to not be easy to read but I don't want to hear about anything in the 90s we don't have Emmett Smith we don't have that offensive line and we don't have that coaching staff so let's get back into 2000s please but I'd prefer to stay in the twenty twenties...

Given so many things change in different types of quarterbacks come and go different ocs different offenses we need to stay in reality here I asked for some statistics from the last 3 years or so not something from back when we ran a completely different offense...

Yes of course, troy was under center all the time, that's how he came from college and that's how he ended up in the pros but that is not how it works anymore you Taylor your offense to the strengths of your best players so we'll see what they do... You know that whole entire saying will tell you what's coming and you still can't stop it well those are the glory days we're not in those days anymore we need to hide what we're doing everybody knew Emmett Smith was getting the ball on 80% of the plays and then the ball was getting probably thrown deep to Irvin and occasionally you had Harper or someone else make a play or your tight end but pretty much you knew what was coming and you couldn't stop it..

We are not anywhere near that type of team I don't know anybody in the NFL that could do that right now don't say the Eagles and Saquan Bartley because it took more than that this isn't your daddy's or your granddads NFL people are running different things now....

I will take an offense that's multifaceted that we're not running from under center too much that we're not running from shotgun too much that they picked a proper plays in the game plan for the defense we're facing that week how about that?
 
Honestly and I hate to say this but it's too late IMO. Maybe I should ask, what improvement are you hoping for

I'm asking because, IMO, Dak is who he is at this point and age. I'm not sure how much this would improve his game as opposed to the offense in general. We DO know he is one of the best play-action quarterbacks in the league.

Don't act like this was the 50s. Most teams, if not all teams ran many plays out of the shotgun in the early 90s. The Cowboys were the only team that ran every play from under center. I don't know of any other team that did that.

Even today, if you have a good OL, and run a 21 personnel offense, the D has to account for it. You can't just sit back in Tampa 2.
