Such a conundrum.
Wanting to see "old-school" football that you loved and the violence that made it what it is.

And an innocent wife and their children wanting to see their father come home safe after a hard days work.

I don't see conundrum. If your worried about safety, go into a different field.

Easy to say, hard for your loved ones to handle.

How about we start giving QBs who make stupid throws and get their receivers killed fines. All these problems would be solved almost immediately.

If the league keeps expanding, we are going to keep seeing crappy QB play. Crappy QB play is what gets theses guys hurt as much as anything. This is such another stupid possible rule I dont even understand how they could consider it.

I've said it again, but I dont think there is any reason the NFL wants to do this other than to bring in more money from marketing top players and jersey sales. Doesnt make sense any other way.

Handle what?

An unnecessary blow to the head that makes them an invalid for thirty years. Leaving your mother to handle a family with more questions herself than answers.
Children that go crazy and leave their mother except for the youngest- left to pick up the pieces and take over said family.

You must not have lost a father at the most important time of that family's life. Otherwise you would not have asked that.

You have no idea.

Go back to your happy life. No one else is different apparently.

this is football for crying out loud. the game is based around hitting people people. The players know the risks. just like if you don't want to get punched in the face for living you don't become a UFC fighter

Um, how often has that scenario happened in football?

Yeah, and I am sure that your life is just like that of an NFL players family.

Football players are compensated extremely well going back to free college educations where they can learn the basics of F=M*A

If you don't head injuries happen...
If you don't tragedies happen...
I know of one.
Personally.
You will be the only person I consider putting on an "ignore list".

do you drive a car? how could you? don't you fear the risk of injury if you get in an accident? how could you put your family under such risk? you should sell you car and walk to work and wherever else you need to go. But you better carry a gun in case someone wants to mug you.

how about a cable breaking on the elevator you may use at work? or those nasty sharp corners on your desk, might hurt if you were to slip and fall and hit your head on those.

but you know what, there is a solution to all this madness. Maybe we all should just lock ourselves in a closet somewhere and refuse to come out because this world is a dangerous place and we don't need the family worrying about any of us getting hurt.

We'll we could always play flag football and take out the risk entirely. I believe you can count on one hand the amount of severe, life altering injuries (i.e. paralysis, death, serve brain damage) that has occurred in the history of the NFL.

I'm sorry your Dad or friend got hurt (from playing football?), but it's not like people don't know what they're signing up for. You want to make big bucks you have to take risks.

Did you mean to link a different article? I'm not sure how this matches the thread title or your post.

Goodell isn't on the competition committee. No new rule has been formulated. They're looking at a potential problem area and considering possibly addressing it. The problem area is defenseless players, not anyone anywhere.

It's a sublimely selfish attitude that requires people to risk debilitating injuries for one's entertainment. If the game can be played with less risk of severe long-term health issues, I'm for it.

So we should end boxing, UFC, martial arts, bobsleding, hockey, baseball, horseback riding , etc...

I DON'T SEE THE PROBLEM. WHY WOULD YOU ALLOW A PLAYER TO HIT ANOTHER PLAYER AT THE KNEE'S WHO DOES'NT EVEN HAVE THE BALL? THIS IS NOT A NEW RULE. IT IS BEING LOOKED AT.
