Eagles and Commanders could be reduced to spoiler role against Dallas in Week 16 & 17

The pitiful performance of the NFC East so far has me thinking about one thing: It's possible that the Eagles and Commanders could already be eliminated from playoff contention by the time Weeks 16 and 17 come around. If so, they would be reduced to playing spoiler role only against Dallas.

(The Cowboys play the Commanders at FedEx in Week 16, and host the Eagles in week 17.)

Of course, every NFL team plays hard against the Cowboys regardless of the situation, especially NFC East rivals. But at least this would make it quite easier than playing against desperate Eagles or Commanders teams who would be in the thick of the playoff hunt and have additional motivation............. who could clinch a playoff berth of their own by defeating the Cowboys in a win-or-go-home situation for both teams (like the Cowboys' 31-14 loss to the Giants in the season finale two seasons ago, or the 28-18 loss to the Commanders in last season's finale.)

Sorry but I'll worry about December games in December. Let's just try to beat the Chargers next week.

Had a buddy tell me "this game is over, it's in the bag!" a couple years back against the Jets in week 1. Ever since that point I don't make any early judgements or predictions, whether it be gamewise or seasonwise. Ya never don't know ;)

Yup way too early for what ifs. This division always seem to shake itself out and come down to the wire. One of the slow starting teams will go on a little run I think. We just need to stack up some Ws week to week

On the other hand if Dallas loses to San Diego, they are staring at Denver and a possible 2-3 record. The division would be completely wide open at that point. I wouldnt count Washington or NY out of it just yet.

Way too early to say this. Still tons of football to be played.

Didn't the Commanders come back from the dead just a few years ago? To challenge for NFC east after they were declared out of it?

We have probably at least 3 nfc east losses. We almost always lose at least one game to each rival. But for sure we need to show up in san diego. Losing 2 games in a row will derail us.

Not scared of San Diego or Denver but that's just me, we'll be 4-1 in two weeks

It seems like everyone has all but accepted a loss against Denver. I think we match up well given our pass rush and Manning not being very mobile.

and they have some injuries on OLine - The LT is out for the year. The game is in Dallas - I like our chances

wow.....EARLY THREAD ALERT, EARLY THREAD ALERT....WARNING, WARNING!!!!!

If so that would really be sweet - the next 4 games after Denver are all very winable - washington, philadelphia, detroit, minnesota. All 4 of those teams playing bad right now.

Dallas could be reduced to spoiler role by that time. Come on folks, we are still in Week 3 of a long season.

If the Eagles stay healthy, they will be in the hunt for the div champioship or a wild card. I wouldn't dismiss any team right now. An injury here or there and it is an entirely different scenario. Way too early.

All jesting aside, it is still early in the season. But it sure is great to have 2 of your division rivals starting out deep in the hole at 0-3 .

The only way they can play spoiler is if the Giants are within 2 wins of taking the East and right now the Giants are 0 and 3, so I'm not even sure that scenario can play out at this point, unless the Giants experience a huge turnaround and soon.
