Broaddus tweet re Leary

they should have....he's playing great so far. garrett said he wanted to get stronger on the line, so idk why they didn't have interest in him.

He wasnt even on our board. Not a scheme fit.

There's literally nothing more annoying than the fan who picks the one player who plays well and was drafted after the Cowboys' pick in any given round and harps forever about the player. The funniest part is that everyone makes it seem like Warford was some slam dunk at 47...he wasn't drafted until the 3rd in a lineman heavy draft.

i'm not coming out of left field. i'm not sure if you post in the draft zone but there was a handful of us that had warford in our mock drafts.

I understand. And you were also complaining a lot about Floyd until recently. But seriously, what's the point of constantly complaining about not drafting a guy who wasn't on our board? What does it add to the board months after the draft?

To be fair, there were many who wanted another O lineman with the next pick, whether it was Warford or whoever. Escobar was a wasted pick with what was still out there and less of a need. Gavin may turn out to be really good but for this season, it was a wasted pick. OL/DL made more sense at the time.

Did Leary hurt his knee or something? I haven't heard anything.

Or is this just about his degenerative condition that we knew about from draft day?

Oh yeah, drafting Margus Hunt (the next lineman on our board) would have made a great deal of sense. It stuns me how fast fans want to bash and/or crown draft picks.

This is all based on a single, unsubstantiated tweet. But hey, it gives guys like Zordon free reign to whine about Warford...you know, because they would look silly if they still whined about Floyd.

Here we go again with this......

I am aware of Leary's degenerative knee condition, but I wasn't aware that his knee is flaring up or was injured. It's just a tweet that may or may not be accurate. Either way I'm sure we'll suit up on Sunday and play and the world will still be spinning.

The bottom-line is that I've seen Bernardeau play enough. The man is terrible and I don't care how much Brian Broaddus hypes him up. Whether or not we should have drafted Warford doesn't really matter now. All I know is that if Mackenzie Bernardeau plays any significant time then this oline is going to regress and get worse, not better.

I think the tweet where he's concerned is simply because of the history of knee problems. It's week 8 and I'm sure by now there will be some soreness.

Yeah.

I thought your post (#26) was a very good one that was right on target. It is so easy to look back at a draft and say we shoulda done this or we shoulda done that.

Annoying, particularly when Dallas had such an outstanding draft anyway.

Hope Leary is ok. He's better than Berny but haven't been impressed w Leary. He's clearly the weak link of the line. Everyone else has been awesome though on that unit for the most part.

wow floyd??? you have me confused with someone else. i've never brought him up once since the draft.

the board is their board, not mine nor yours. i have no allegiance to it so i see no harm in discussing the matter. plus if he wasn't even on their board then that opens another can of worms with the scouting dept.

More spontaneous OG fretting? After we proved we could fill one of the positions by building up low-round (free agent) depth and with a veteran FA off the street? While we were getting perfectly serviceable OG play from Bernardeau, too, at the start of the season? This is a non-issue.
And, not that they're related in any way other than in the minds of some Cowboys fans, but there's going to come a day when everybody acknowledges that the Escobar pick was not a bad 2nd round pick for Dallas. From the outset, it was known that he was a player who was going to develop over time. TE is not a plug-and-play position, especially when the prospect needs to get stronger and work on blocking. We knew this going in, and the organization talked about it on draft day.
