ESPN: Was Jones' choice on offense wrong, too?

Awesome!

Jerry's recognizing that there might be some problems with Jerry's decisions, so clearly, he'll reach out for help and ask Jerry to make things better…

Oh boy, do I feel better…

Hmmm...
Games under garrett where we abandon the run.
Games under callahan where we abadon the run.

My contention is it makes no difference if we have him calling players or not cause we have the same results...survey says...

Hmmm.....

"Jones made another decision on the coaching staff in the offseason that doesn’t look good right now either. He forced Jason Garrett to give up the play-calling duties and hand them over to Bill Callahan."

As much as I bash Jerry...this is not one of the things I can hold against him. I, and many others on here by the way, wanted Garrett to give up play calling and focus more on the entire team. My total amateur opinion is that it is not so much the play calling (except the Minn game) and more about what these guys to in designing plays and practicing them. If plays don;t work, it isnt necessarily because the play was called. There is something much deeper wrong with the offense.

The only thing that will work is to hire a GM and let him fire the coaching staff and work as a true GM should work.

We all know that ********** Jones won't do that though.

Good observation LOL

The biggest problem is that Jones shouldn't be making these decisions - the head coach should be. The head coach should have control of all on-field aspects of the team, and absolutely needs the assistant coaches to report to and be loyal to him.

If the head coach isn't capable of making these decisions, then he shouldn't be the head coach.

I understand where you are coming from, however, if you take a step back and really look -- Callahan and Kiffin really hadn't been successful in the recent past.

Last time Callahan was calling plays was at Nebraska. There he ran a once proud team into the ground -- culminating in 76-39 loss to Kansas the year (2007) when they finally canned him. Kiffin was so bad at USC that he was fired by his son. He gave up 730 yards to Oregon last season.

These guys were not ascending coaches -- they were descending coaches. Callahan might have been a good OL coach but nobody but Jerry thought he was HC/OC material.

These were poor choices -- and these choices are playing themselves out on the field.

It really doesnt matter whos calling the plays when the gameplan and offense are the same does it?

Which of Jerry's choices concerning the Cowboys' organization have been correct period recently? These coaches will be successful down the road just like Rob Ryan when they are not buried under his poor decision making and roster construction.

I hope he knows by now that Larry Lacewell and Barry Switzer don't have the answer.

Kiffin will be successful down the road?

I have news for you. This is the last stop for Kiffin. If being fired by his own son in 2012 wasn't enough, being the DC in charge of a defense on pace to give up the 2nd most yards in the history of the NFL is the final nail is his career.

We all know the next stop for Kiffin, he's too old...

I understand.. So if the argument is that the wrong choice was made to call plays, then thats fine and I tend to agree. But the part I dont agree with is the "Jason should be calling the plays".
