Everybody is down on the team; however, the next 2 games are against the Giants and Raiders. They've already beaten the Giants once.

Everybody should be back in the lineup except Lee and Durant.

The DL should be a little better than early in the season.

Fred, Leary, TWill, Wilcox and other young players have more experience.

Am I missing something?

The Cowboys had 6 turnovers and still barely beat the Giants. Eli shredded the Cowboys' "defense" when the defense was as healthy as they have been all year. If anything this is a much weaker team now than then.

The coaches, for whatever reason, and not just injuries, these coaches are either far apart on where they stand, or Jason really doesnt know what hes doing.

As bad a I hate to say it, Brandon Jacobs is running hard and their fullback Conner is a crushing blocker. I gringe thinking about him taking on Ernie sims..
The trade for Jon Beason has helped them at their area of biggest need on defense and jpp is getting healthy.
Eli has had a few clean games in a row.
And we are playing in ny where weather could be an issue.
Now all that said, they have won some ugly games against bad competion but
I honestly hope our team comes out focused and plays hard ... I expect a tough game. A game we can win but as always, it will be a struggle.

What has changed since we beat the Giants opening night? Realizing that the defensive performance in that game was NOT an aberration. Blowing a seemingly insurmountable division lead. Realizing that we aren't a lock to win the division after all. Watching the offense stink it up just as bad as the defense game in and game out. Realizing that the coaches and management have no answers at all. These are juts a few of the things.

WWeaker

Weaker how, other than Lee?

Selvie has had time to learn the defense. Nevis, Brown and Byrd must be upgrades or they wouldn't have replaced the other guys.

Waters was not here for that game so that's a wash.

The coaches consider Wilcox as an upgrade over Allen.

My primary point in this thread is that we might be overacting to the Saints game.

If the Saints game had come after the bye week, it might have been much closer because most of the injury issues should be resolved.

Lee is a major blow for a defense that didn't really stop the Giants outside of forcing turnovers. I would be surprised to see New York turn the ball over that many times again, and Dallas' offense hasn't been effective enough (except for the Denver game) to stick with the Giants if they score a lot of points.

This is a winnable game for Dallas because New York still hasn't been that good, but it's likely to come down to one or two plays, like in most games for this team.

You have a point and I'm really hope they respond to the NO debacle with some intensity.

It's on the road where we've played much worse this year.
The Giants have a hint of a clue and some hope.
We don't have Sean Lee.

IMO most of all is the road issue, although losing our best defensive player this year is huge.

Sure, everyone is probably overreacting to the Saints game a little bit. Surely we won't be that bad every week. But still.

Is/was Waters that big a game changer?

I dunno, but our how about our Special Teams unit? It's been the ONE consistant thing about this team this year. Dwayne Harris on returns and especially in coverage....I think he's the team's MVP.. Good coaching I guess.

I love how people dismiss the Giants. Like they havent been a thorn in this teams side for the better part of the last decade. People like to talk about "this seasons" Eli like he diddnt roast every single coverage player on the Cowboys on the road to start the season. 6 turnovers wont be happening again, and we all know that this is a coddled dome team that cant hack it in cities with football weather.

What has changed? The turnovers are gone. The defense is still getting torched, the offense is still struggling.

INJURIES

Exactly. Don't think that just because we won means it was easy. the offense was pathetic just like they have been the majority of the year.

I agree. The turnovers hid the fact that the defense stunk. My young grandchildren could have completed passes on the slant routes against this defense. I think the biggest change is that posters have seen that this is the worst defense in team history at this point of the season and the offense has been exposed as being talented, but unreliable. Doubts about the coaching is also a factor in the attitude change.
