How do you explain this?

Tony Romo on 3rd down this season.

47.1 completion % (34th INFL)

5.7 yards per attempt (30th NFL)

57.6 Passer rating (32nd NFL)

Just waiting for a Romo lover to post how efficient Romo has been this season.

You mean that some backup qbs have higher completion percentages? This isn't just a Romo problem but also the offense's problem.

I'd like to see the amount of pressured he received on those throws as well, that is if you have those stats. Romo has typically done pretty bad this year when pressured, worse then usual. Regardless, ouch indeed.

I do not have those stats but Isnt that what Romo is supposed to really excel at? Pocket
Awareness, evading pass rushers, extending and making plays outside the pocket?

Good OP as this is exactly what I consider to be the major problem on offense. Looking deeper I think it is beating the blitz, whether it be Romo failing to audible into better protection (see Peyton Manning) or failure to audible to a better hot route or failure to throw a crisp pass on target or failure on the WR part to catch the ball or get open. THIS is the key.

Pretty Bad, that looks like a QB afraid of throwing picks and not taking risks.

Kinda also looks like the percentage a QB would have when no one gets open on 2nd down and the running back loses yards on first. Also, we must be out of this world on 1st and 2nd down given our overall numbers aren't dragged down too far with these bad ones. I wonder what that means about our playcalling...

OP, where is the link to the entire list? I'd like to see some context.

The other interesting thing is to compare Romo's stats on 3rd down THIS year with PREVIOUS years. It's way down.

It means that he's having a bad year like the rest of the team.

It's an anomaly as be is usually better than he's looked the last few weeks.

How'd you get the ranks90.1 ugh? It's pretty hard to compare them all at once this way.

But using RG3 as the benchmark for average qb play. His 3rd down stats are 90.1qbr, 60 comp %, significantly higher than Romo's this season.

Like I said in another thread. There are outliers that a lot of fans over look and go straight to the yardage TDs vs Ints stats ...

Look! It's another Romo hater circle jerky

Having said that, if those figures are correct, that is disturbing.

Romo doesn't understand the importance of getting a first down, been noticing that since JG is here.
when we need less than 5 yards on 3rd down, Romo looks for long developing touchdown route for valuable 3-4 seconds, even though there is a receiver available for first down in 2 seconds after snap time. Usually ends up with holding, sack or open first down receiver covered.

I notice payton manning, he usually looks only at the first down receiver and throws him the ball if he is open before the defense has a chance to collapse on him.

First downs keeps our defense on the sidelines, gives offense a chance to get into a rythm. Not sure if it is Romo's fault or JG
