Why Garrett didn't argue the Clock

Garrett doesn't seem to understand the game clock. I was at the game and everyone in the stadium was wondering what the hell was going on, apparently except Garrett. I figured out within about 5 seconds what must have gone wrong.

Garrett isn't the worst coach in the league. The portion of the game that happens off the field with him I think must actually be pretty decent. I think he just doesn't understand anything about managing the time in the game which means he looks very bad consistently.

We had no penalties except for that one that really wasn't a penalty, right? So we had no penalties and still lost.

Not really, cause we got the ball back and scored.

true. But maybe some of us subscribe to the thought that you only have so many good plays in a game and we spent 1 when we could have saved that play. I wish JG would have somebody that could buzz him about the clock error that was broadcasted for 20 million fans on television watching the mistake well before the next play was ran. Now come on! Fire him again...and again...and again. Peace Cowboys fans we deserve better than this shlucker.

yes! exactly and guess what we speak about this 8 times per season every season he has been here costing the Cowboys 3 games a year. Could have won the division before the last game and not had to let him mismanage week 17 again...and again....and again..... la la la

[qbeliveuote="Nexx, post: 5391320, member: 12921"]and the quick timeout before the half before the field goal attempt. no reason to panic and call a timeout with that much time left. you milk it to 2 seconds then kick the field goal or force philly to call the time out.

I believe that the TO Was called after an incomplete pass... so you couldn't run the clock down. With that said, JG has got to be the worst game manager ever![/quote]

no, it was a completion to witten, the ref signaled for the clock to run, and JG called TO with23 left. i have no idea what the reason was.
that said, i liked the clock mgmt at the end of game and holding that one last TO

you throw the flag anyway. The refs know they owe you a make up call and you will get it.

No you don't throw the flag. You do what every other good coach in the league does with the clock stopped like that and make them come over and explain what happened to you.

@MikePereira FYI, the clock operators are hired and paid by the NFL. The blame is really on him. Inexcusable. Not reviewable.

Not that it matters now. We still scored a TD on the drive. Sadly, we didn't convert the 2 pointer. :(

That's what happens when your head coach has to be the play caller. Doesn't have time. Besides, I don't even think the refs knew what was going on.

JG said himself that BC was calling the plays. So he can use that excuse. He already put it out there

What if he would have said that he was calling the plays instead of BC? Can you imagine the firestorm that would create?

Regarding the time out called before the FG attempt at the end of the first half, I believe the prior play ended with a Witten catch and then he stepped out of bounds to stop the clock.

So I think the time clock had stopped anyway. As to why he took the time out, I'm not entirely sure. Perhaps there was an issue getting the FG unit ready before the play clock expired.

Why didn't Garrett have the ref explain to him about the mistake regarding the clock. He should of tackle the ref to get his attention.

Garrett didn't know, along with the rest of us, that the Cowboys got screwed.

Every player knew something was wrong. Pretty much every person in the stadium with football knowledge knew something was wrong. The Head Coach seemed to be one of the few that didn't realize something was wrong.

I believe forward progress was called and the clock continued to run.

The ref signaled his forward progress was stopped inbounds and the clock kept running. I was puzzled when they said Dallas took the TO. The only reason for Dallas to stop the clock so quickly is if they were going to go for it on fourth, but that wasn't the case.

I don't remember it too clearly, so I will defer to the both of you.
