Why Garrett didn't argue the Clock

I believe forward progress was called and the clock continued to run.

Too bad we didn't have the refs from last week's game. On Washington's final possession, they gave the Commanders forward progress AND stopped the clock. Fortunately, our defense kept them from scoring anyway.

The refs were terrible in the 4th quarter. The blown delay call and letting Dez get mugged in the end zone on the 2 pt conversion.

Every player knew something was wrong. Pretty much every person in the stadium with football knowledge knew something was wrong. The Head Coach seemed to be one of the few that didn't realize something was wrong.

Well, the officials didn't know either unfortunately.

I doubt Garrett didn't notice. We had barely gotten the ball set. He's just not a screamer like some fans want.

Seems like the times I've seen this happen to other teams, it's the QB who catches a play clock issue and notifies the refs. Orton seemed unaware of the play clock on multiple occasions. Can't help but feel Romo would have noticed as soon as we lined up.

What I want to know is why the clock jumped from 40 to 25. Why 25? It's so random.

Pretty sure those are the two valid numbers. 40 for normal. 25 for administrative ones. So 25 is a valid number, but it didn't apply there and should have been 40 seconds.

The 25 sec play clock is for when they come back from TOs and commercials and after penalties are enforced. The 40 sec clock is for all other plays and is supposed to start as soon as the officials spot the ball

It happened so quickly no one really knew what was happening. They had not even broken the huddle and the refs called the penalty. Players know they have to hustle after long pass plays, but this was crazy. The refs had to realize something was wrong. They needed to huddle up like they do on every call and get it right. Why have a replay booth if they can't even fix the official's own errors. It could've been disastrous for Dallas.

Someone monitors the play clock, and at that level, there is no reason someone shouldn't be in his ear right away. This is just another in a long line of oversights by the staff.

What did the play clock operator do??That is his screw-up. Officilas are ultimately responsible but he screwed it up!! Rdiculous.
FYI, the clock operators are hired and paid by the NFL. The blame is really on him. Inexcusable. Not reviewable.

Its funny. Everyone is talking about how terrible of a coach he is but just coached a 4 or 5 win team to 8 wins. He has a 4 win team overachieving but I know in some of you guys mind there are some who believe this team is a 11 win team or more.

Ah, ok. Been watching for 35 years and never knew this. Thanks.

That's just not true, you are basically saying this team has even less talent than the 5 -11 teams from the Campo era? Please. Give Campo this team and he'd have better results than Garrett, better yet, give Garrett Quincy as QB, Troy Hambrick as his RB and Antonio Bryant as his WR and he doesn't win 2 games in a season. You may love Garrett but to say he coached a 4 win team to 8 wins is just silly.

Haha, is Pereira a Cowboys fan? Multiple punctuation marks. He seems really PO'd.

Thank God we scored. Can't imagine how depressed I'd be all month if we lost and this dumb screw up by the officials was hanging over the loss.

Dallas won a single game over a team with a winning record. Where are these highly improbable wins? What games is this team stealing?

I won't say that it had less talent than the 5-11 teams but Campo wasn't out there with undrafted rookie free agents starting in his secondary. He had some quality veterans on that team. We are out here with 6th round rookies, cast-off, undrafted free agents all on the defensive side of the football. Not to mention the few guys who skins on the wall in Ware and Hatcher were both injured.

And I don't "love" Garrett. I personally think he will be a good coach in this league but I don't think it will be here. I personally don't think there is a head coach out there. who's obtainable to us that could win under the current situation Garrett is. He can't hire his own coaches, he's not allowed to hold his players accountable because of his owner....

I wouldn't lose any sleep if Garrett is replaced but I think its silly to assume that getting rid of Garrett will fix this team. How many more times do we have to change head coaches before you guys realize what the "real" problem is? There's not a head coach here who can coach this team to the Super Bowl.

You could argue we should've lost the Raiders, Vikings and Deadskins games.

I could counter that with, Dallas should have won against Green Bay and Detroit (and they should have). The second Washington game could have gotten away from them, and maybe the Viking game. The others, not so much. Again, this team is not winning games it shouldn't.

I just don't get this thinking. I mean as bad as we are on defense? The worst in the league? I don't see how anyone can sit here and say we should've won more than 8 games. And with the circus we have on offense? I'm not giving Garrett some compliment by saying it i'm just noticing a lot of posts talking about how terrible we are and when you factor in all the negative things we do? It makes you wonder how we won even 8 games.

If Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth can figure it out on their own, I don't it's too much to ask of an NFL coach to be aware of it.

And what was he to do about it? Was he supposed to throw his play sheet in the air? Maybe toss off his headset, that would show them. Call them over the sideline and tell them that the NFL stands for Not For Long with calls like that? He could have whined and cried for 30 minutes. We still would have been given the 5 yard penalty. It was not review-able. So not sure what he was supposed to do here that would have changed anything.
