Truth is the Cowboys showed last Sunday night that they can move the ball without him, and Orton is far from top tier. We need to think replacement and we need to do so sooner than later.
 
Im a big Romo guy but if you are watching these bowl games there is talent to be had. I just dont want to be caught with our pants around our ankles like we were after aikman.

Past results of other QB's are not indicative of future performance of others. I think it is laughable to think Romo lasts until 38 or 39. One year it's his shoulder, another year it's his ribs, this year he has a "cyst" if you believe that, then this herniated disk he needed surgery for. He refuses to even run the ball anymore. I think Romo has 2 years left if that. It was extremely dumb to give him that massive contract. Bears just made an equally dumb signing with Cutler. Another QB that hasn't achieved jack squat or shown he is a leader.

yeah i can tell you i had issues with spasms in my leg and feet for 1 and 1/2 years after the surgery. still 4 years later i have to do back exercises every morning for about 30 min. now i do not have the best trainers in the business, so his issues may not be as bad as mine were but just picking up your kids and caring them can be a pain literally sometimes, then you have to do stretches to loosen up. So i would say diffidently, we need a good back up next year "Keep Orton" and get a good Rookie to groom to start in 3 years. even if he is able to come back from this this year, he will have lingering pain for the rest of his life. backs are no joke.

I have had eight major neck/back surgeries and over twenty out-patient procedures done over the last 12 years. I have more rods plates and screws than I have bone in my spine lol. I can say from first hand experience that Romo is in a tricky situation. Forget pro football, if he is not careful , the rest of his life can be ruined. He will have to make some serious decisions that will determine his quality of life from now on. If I had his money, I would never risk it.

This is the kind of post I'd expect from you. First you challenge me and the data. Then when shown the data you double down on your ad hominem attack and your expert medical opinion which is worthless. You say past results don't matter ignoring the history of the league then support your argument with a shoulder argument (it was a broken clavicle which is hardly a recurring/chronic problem), the dreaded cyst on the back which means nothing either, and the one concern which is a herniated disc which has been addressed.

Then you bring up Cutler after saying other QBs don't matter in the argument of the longevity of another QB. You not only have no argument but you contradict yourself in trying to support a nearly unsupportable position and your need to bash Romo. You asked for data and you got it. Now, present your own data without the anecdotal evidence which contradicts itself and maybe someone will listen.

It never fails that because one or two players are able to play their positions until they are close to 40, fans assume that it is common. The length of the average NFL career is not that long and it is rare for a player to physically hold up when they have took a beating like Romo has over the years.

There is a thread here where Troy said it was his back that forced him to retire & not the concussions. It was an interview he did so it's in one of the newsfeed forums probably.

So you're saying you didn't read any of that article nor have you looked at the QBs in the HOF or any other evidence. There's more than a two and even a few.
 
A bad back could mean the end of the Romo we know. I was injected with a material that was supposed to make x-rays more visible inside the spinal cord, and 30 years later I'm still suffering from crippling pain. A quarterback needs to be obtained before next season starts or we could be in big trouble going forward.
 
Football aside, I'm sure Romo would like to pick up his next child, give them biggy back rides, and play catch in the backyard. I know as fans its hard for us to separate these guys from their profession but at the end of the day, they are just as human as you and me and would like to enjoy these types of things we take for granted at times.

I am all for Romo coming back and kinda wish he could get a ring before he retired, but I also like Romo the PERSON and I would much rather know he can go through life being able to do these everyday things than to risk life threatening injuries in an effort to get Dallas a SB. Let's be honest, Jerry has yet to build a good team around Romo so why should he think something will magically change? He's going to be 34 and has plenty life ahead of him. He has OVERACHIEVED as an undrafted player coming out of Eastern Illinois. Yes, as a Cowboy QB, he may be considered a failure. But he can look back at his NFL career and be happy knowing he wasn't ever supposed to amount to much and ended up shattering most Cowboys QB records and making well over 100 mill.

Actually it is your reading comprehension that is lacking. I never "challenged" you. I basically said your "facts" had nothing to do with Romo and that every player has different genetics and factors that can determine how long they play. Go back and read my post slowly. Just because player X plays to 39 doesn't mean player B will. Is that really hard to understand? I think it is laughable that Tony will play that long, am I allowed to have that opinion? You have ZERO "facts" that will tell any of us how long Tony will play until. Neither of us do, it's just opinions. Again, past results of other QB's are not indicative of how long Tony will play until.

Great post. If I were Tony I would retire in a year or 2. Beautiful wife, cute kid, another on the way, set for life, achieved more than he could have ever dreamed, media constantly attacking him for all the choking, taking a ton of psychical abuse over the years, multiple surgeries, etc. Visibly declining as well.
 
It sucks Fisher said romo first complained about back pain 10 DAYS after signing his contract.
